Chapter 11
Becky came out, pretending she hadn't heard a thing.
"Let's go eat."
I nodded and stood up. Grayson grabbed my arm as I past him.
"Go ahead Rebecca, we'll catch up."
She looked at me and I nodded.
"Alright."
She slowly made her way to the food court.
"You okay?"
I shrugged, not saying anything.
"Are you mad?"
I looked him in his eyes. "Did you tell everyone what he said?" Grayson nodded as he looked away. "So now everyone's going to think I begged you back?"
He shook his head, "No. No one will think that."
"You don't know that."
"Hardly anyone knows we're back together yet."
He pulled me to his chest. I wrapped my arms around him.
"We can make up some intense story."
I laughed. "Why?"
He shrugged, "Entertainment." He kissed the top of my head. "Let's go eat."
I was ready to pass out by the time we dropped Becky off. She was very excited about her dress, and I was still dress less. I was passing out when Grayson merged onto the highway. When he missed the exit, I looked over at him.
"You missed it."
He shook his head, "No, I didn't. I'm taking you to one last place."
I gave an exasperated sigh. He smiled at me.
"You'll find a dress in this place. I promise."
I nodded and closed my eyes.
The next second Grayson was waking me up.
"It's only 10:30. You can't be this tired yet."
I got out of the car. A woman was smiling madly when she saw Grayson. I felt a little jealous. She was prettier and older than I.
"Grayson!" she said excitedly, completely ignoring the fact that I existed. "What an unexpected surprise!"
He nodded, "We're" he pulled me to him by my waist "here looking for a prom dress." She looked me over once and smiled. I wasn't a threat to her.
"Sure. We can get a dress for your friend."
She turned around and started looking through the store.
She started pulling dresses off the walls.
"She's in love with me, so she'll give me a discount." I laughed. "Let her think what she will about you and I. Just don't confirm or deny."
I nodded.
She pushed me into the dressing room and put a lot of dresses in the room with me. Most of them looked retarded. I knew they wouldn't fit me. I tiredly started to strip. I tried on 3 dresses then heard a knock on the door. I opened it, still wearing one of the dresses.
"Are you going to show me? Or do I have to come in there with you?"
"I guess I can show you."
He nodded and looked over the dress, obviously hating it. He stuck his head in to look at the dresses.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me out.
"Does this look good on her?"
The lady smiled, "It looks great."
Grayson shook his head, "I think we won't be needing your assistance the rest of the night. Will you be so kind and take those hideous dresses out of the dressing room please."
I looked around at the dresses. There were a few that caught my eye.
"I'm sorry sir." She went away and took those dresses with her. Half an hour later I put my head down on one of the clothes racks.
"We will be closing in 15 minutes." Someone said over the loud speakers.
I groaned. "I'll never find a dress."
Grayson cleared his throat from behind me. I looked lazily.
My jaw dropped. "It's so pretty."
He shrugged, "It's still your favorite color, right?"
I nodded. "Yea."
"Go try it on, don't forget to come back out here."
I grabbed the dress and went to my dressing room.
I was getting frustrated when I couldn't finish zipping up the dress myself. It was at the place on my back I couldn't reach.
"Having trouble in there?"
"Yea."
"Come here."
I opened the door and turned around. He zipped it up. I walked to the 3 mirrors without looking at him.
"What do you think?" I asked.
He nodded, "It's nice."
I smiled lightly, "Let's get it and go. I'm so tired."
He nodded once and walked up to me. "Too tight at all?" I shook my head. "Loose?"
"Nope."
"Content?"
I nodded, "Yes."
"Good." He agreed.
I turned around and gave him a hug. "Thanks for this."
He nodded, "I don't want to do this again."
I laughed, "Me neither."
When I pulled away he wasn't letting my waist go. He wanted a kiss and wasn't going to ask for it. I sighed then brought my lips to his.
There was a gasp and a shower of hangers hit the ground. I was tempted to look over, but I didn't want to stop the kiss just yet. He pulled away first this time. I put my head down on his shoulder and yawned. He rubbed my back lightly.
"Go take off the dress and slip it to me. I'll pay while you dress."
I nodded and did as he said. He was waiting at the door with the dress over his shoulder. I fell asleep in the car before he started the engine.

Grayson was twirling his keys in the kitchen the next morning. He was ready to go.
"Hurry up."
Someone's grouchy this morning.
He threw me a granola bar.
"That's your breakfast. Let's go."
I rolled my eyes and stuffed a water bottle in my book bag as I ran out the door behind Grayson. Brian and Chris were in the backseat already. I looked at my watch. It wasn't late yet.
"What's the rush?"
He looked in the rearview mirror. "Chris needs to do a makeup test this morning."
I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. Brian still wasn't looking at me. I was determined to break him of that habit today.
I took off my seat belt.
"What are you doing?" Grayson asked, not taking his eyes off the road.
I hugged the back of my seat.
"Brian?"
"What?" he asked looking out the window.
"Look at me." He didn't. "Please?"
He hesitated a moment, then looked at me for a brief second.
"Do I look mad?" He looked out the window again. I put my hand on his rough cheek, which he probably should have shaved this morning. "Stop beating yourself up, buddy." I turned around and sat in my seat. "I'm sure Grayson took care of the beating part."
Grayson only did a short nod.
School was torturous. 30 people I didn't know wanted the rumors about Grayson and me to be confirmed or denied by lunchtime. I was the first one out of the classroom when that bell rang. I quickly made my way off campus. I'm sure the campus security guards were hearing bits and pieces of the rumors because they let me off campus so quickly.
I sat on the trunk of Grayson's car as I waited. Grayson didn't usually leave campus because it was too tempting for him to just stay away from school. I would probably just lay out here until the bell rang. Not too much of a hassle considering the questions people have been asking me all day. Grayson this.... Grayson that... even heard someone call me a whore under their breath.
I pulled out my iPod and leaned back on the glass of the car, very careful not to cause the alarm to go off.
"So you're just going to stay with Grayson?" Unfortunately I could hear him through my ear phones. I slowly sat up. He looked angry. "Are you going to stay with him?" Jason asked again.
I nodded. "I heard you the first time. And yes. I'm going to stay with him."
He shook his head, "Maybe you should tell Jessica that." He pulled out his cell phone. She was kissing him.
"You could've taken that last night." He shook his head and showed the saved date. I sighed. It was a few minutes ago. "She could've surprised him."
He shook his head, "You know that guys reflexes. Nothing surprises him."
I looked down. "Get out of here."
"I'm just trying to show you the dick that guy is."
"Get out of here Jason." I said a bit louder.
"You're really going to ignore the evidence?"
I shook my head and hopped off the car. I don't need this. I turned up my music and started walking away.
"You do know he does want her over you." He hollered.
I turned around and pulled the earphones out of my ears.
"I don't need this shit from you Jason. You don't know me."
"I know him. Do you see the difference in the way he looks at you and the way he looks at her?" he shook his head, "Just another thing about your rivalry. You both always have to win, no matter what the price."
He was in hitting range. I slapped him across the face hard enough that the sound echoed.
"Stay away from me."
He was pissed when he looked back at me. I started walking away again.
"You're lucky you're a chick or I'd kick your scrawny ass."
I kept walking, rubbing my middle finger against my thumb quickly, diverting the aggression somewhere else.
Keep walking. Just...don't give him the satisfaction of knowing he's getting under my skin...
"Go... run back to the fucker who doesn't even want you."
That's...IT!
I turned around to him and threw my bag at him.
"Shut the fuck up Jason. I swear to god!"
He caught my bag with a smirk.
"Or what?" He took a few slow steps towards me. "What are you going to do?"
I grabbed my bag and left him standing there. I got as far away from him as I could. I was in my next class 25 minutes before it started. The teacher didn't care. There were at least 6 to 10 math freaks in the room at all times. I sat in my desk and put my head on my desk.
I was done. Finished with the drama that came with school. Drama that came with Grayson. The drama that came with Jessica. There was a poke on my shoulder. I ignored it. Another poke. I sighed and looked at the poor soul about to receive my wrath.
It was Brian.
