Philips' Pov
"Are you good? You've been looking upset since morning." Steve asks as he took his seat beside me. He was my seat partner. It used to be Samuel but he changed positions this term. He wanted to be closer to that girl he's been having a crush on. Lord knows when he's going to tell her he likes her.
I turn to Steve who was looking at me expectantly.
Am I okay? Nah. Heck, I'm not okay.
"Janet is coming back to stay with us." I tell him without hesitation. His mouth forms in an 'o' shape.
"That's messed up." He says as he leans back in his chair.
"Tell me something I don't know." I reply with a sigh.
"Didn't you say she was never coming back to Nigeria?"
"Well, that's what I thought."
"When is she coming?" He asks again.
I chuckle a little before replying, "This evening man."
"Well damn." He replies looking upset as well. "Do the others know?" He asks, obviously referring to Samuel and Nonso.
"Not yet. I found out this morning. I'd tell them later."
These guys have been my brothers for a very long time now. They know literally everything about me. Everything. It's only normal for me to tell them about this.
"You'll be alright."
"Yeah."
The bell signalling break over goes off and a few minutes later, students start trooping into the class. I notice those three come in too. Joy, the one Nonso likes but will never admit, Eniola, Steve's girlfriend and the last one Amaka Obi, Samuel's babe.
I really am yet to know her personally. I only know her as the girl Samuel likes. I can count the number of times we've had conversations, which is weird since we've been in the same class for close to six years.
"Amy, my girlfriend's friend." Steve says after tracing where I'd been looking at.
"Girlfriend. I still can't believe you have a girlfriend." I say with a laugh.
Steve clutches his chest in mock hurt. "What you tryna say man?"
"That you're a player. That you don't do girlfriends." I say matter-of-factly.
"I was a player. I'm a new man now." He says with a proud smile. "Eniola changed me." He adds and I fake a gag.
"Whatever guy." I wave him off, not in the mood to hear any trashy love talk.
"And Beatrice?" He asks.
"What's up with her?"
"What's up with her?" He asks me back.
"What's up with her?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.
"Guy na." Steve says laughing. "I thought you guys were dating sha." He says with a shrug.
The Government teacher enters and we greet.
"Dating? We're not dating. She's just...a good friend. Yeah, she's a good friend." I whisper to him once the teacher turned to write on the board.
I take out my Government note and Steve does too. We then start to copy the note the teacher had already started to write down.
"Yeah right. A good friend that you like to kiss and sometimes have s*x with." He replies sarcastically.
"Guy!!" I yell as I frantically look to see if anyone had heard him.
"What? Is it not true?"
I simply shake my head at him, not having any words to say back to him.
Beatrice and I have been intimate with each other but only once. Not like it's something that happened over and over again. She and I are family friends sort of. We've known each other for a really long time and I don't know, we got carried away at some point.
I'm not interested in having any relationship with her though. She's not my type of girl.
"And who is your type of girl?" My subconscious asks.
Who is?
I take a second to glance around the classroom when I find Amy already staring at me. She looks away immediately but I continue to stare.
Who is?

I pack my notebooks into my school bag right after the closing bell is rung. My mind wanders then to what awaits me at home. I can only hope she is yet to arrive.
"Philips." Someone calls. I stop packing my books to check who.
"Oh Amy, what's up?" I ask, a bit surprised at her coming up to me.
"Nothing. Please can you borrow me your...your Statistics note?" She asks sounding nervous.
I'm about to say, "sure" when I remember we submitted our notes this morning.
"I submitted my note this morning." I tell her.
"Oh yeah." She starts to laugh nervously. "Did I say statistics? Sorry, I meant Government."
I nod, eyeing her suspiciously.
I slowly turn to take out my Government note when I catch her two friends looking at us. They quickly cover their faces with... newspapers?
Where'd they get newspapers?
"What's wrong with them?" I ask Amy, using my neatly wrapped Government note to point at her friends.
"Who?" She asks looking around the class.
"Your two friends over there." I point out my thumb in their direction.
"Err... I don't know. I'll take that now. Bye." She says in a rush, taking my Government note and scurrying off.
"What was that about?" Nonso says from behind me. I turn to him.
His appearance mirrored mine. He had his backpack slung over his left shoulder. His tie was loose around his neck and his shirt was tucked out.
"I don't even know. Weird people everywhere." I reply shrugging.
"Yeah, my cousin is weird." He says with a laugh.
"Your cousin?" I ask confused.
"Yeah, wasn't that Amaka? She's my cousin na." He replies. Well, that's new.
"How come I'm just knowing?" I ask and he looks at me with obvious disbelief.
"Everybody knows we're cousins. How don't you know? We even live together." He says exasperatedly.
"Oh wow." I reply chuckling.
"Anyway, is what Steve said true?" He asks and I can immediately guess what he's referring to.
"Yup." I reply, "Unfortunately."
"Omo." He starts to laugh. "That b*tch has mind sha."
"She's still my dad's sister. No one can change that."
"How far? Tell your popsi now. Just tell him what happened. Let him know the witch he has as a sister."
"Guy let's just free the thing. It has passed. Almost four years now. Make we just forget am abeg." I tell him not quite ready to go through with the discussion. How does he expect me to tell my dad what happened. He might not even believe me. He might even take her side and blame it all on me. I'm honestly not ready for all that wahala.
"Let's just die the matter." I say to him again. He looks like he wants to say more but shrugs instead.
Samuel and the others join us and we head downstairs. The topic comes up again and Sam suggests the same thing Nonso did.
"See guy free this thing. I'm not telling my father anything." I say almost sounding angry before walking far ahead of them.
I spot my car in the driveway and hurry to get in.
How do they expect me to tell my father that I was raped by a girl? And not just any girl; his own sister.
