Chapter: 38 They Are Here

Nathan's POV

It's been almost all night since we have been searching for her. Officer Kellar's men have been searching her in disguise so that, whoever has kidnapped her would not be alerted. Sometimes it feels like we are really close to her and other times it is like we are just going round in circles.

"Here," Adam comes and hands me a coffee, which I gladly accept.

"I would have never guessed Victor could be one of those, " He shakes his head and takes a sip from his coffee," All his records were clean, nothing was out of the place."

"Maybe someone cleaned his records," I shrug, as I stare ahead, "Or maybe Victor is not his real name."

He silently nods his head, then looks at Natalie who is talking to someone.

"I had no doubt that Natalie is one crazy girl, but never thought she could be such savage," he chuckles. His phone rings and he excuses himself.

I walk to Natalie, who has finished talking," Why don't you go back and rest?" I suggest her, as she has been with us almost all night.

"I won't go anywhere," she purses her lips and shakes her head.

After standing there in silence for a few moments, I can't stop myself from asking.

"Was she going away because of me?" I sigh and hesitantly ask her, somewhere I know the answer, but still, I need to hear it from her.

"Why there is need to ask such question when you already know the answer," she straight looks into my eyes," If you expect me to give you any other answer because you are feeling guilty then you are wrong."

"Her life was never easy, but you also left no stone unturned to make it worst," her tone is even, as if she is stating a fact," I don't get it now why are you here? Just go home and sleep or do whatever the hell you do. When we will find her, we will inform you."

"You also know I am concerned about her," I close my eyes for a moment," it is not like I am happy about whatever has happened."

Adam approaches us still talking on his phone, abruptly his relax expression turns into a stony, he slowly nods and says," I will let you know if we find anything."

"I think I know who has Abigail," he clenches his jaws.

I wake up with the worst headache ever, I think probably this is how people feel when they are having a hangover. Slowly, I take in my surroundings, only to find myself in an unfamiliar place.

Where am I? How long I have been here?

I try to move my hands, but they are tightly tied to the armrest of the chair with rope. Even my feet are tied to chair's legs.

My thoughts are disoriented, clenching my eyes tightly I shake my head as I try to clear my mind. Gradually, the haze lifts and I am more awake, as previous events come crashing down on me.

Oh, God!  That Victor is one of them. He kidnapped me!

Quickly I scan around the room, in which I am held. The room is bare apart from two chairs and a mattress. There is a window on the opposite wall, from which I can make out outlines of the trees surrounded by darkness. The room is not poorly lit, so even it is dark outside, inside the room, there is enough light.

I can hear a faint male voice from outside of the door, but it is unclear, from the conversation I can judge he is talking on the phone because there is no second voice, other than his.

I struggle against the hold trying to free myself, but I ended up hurting myself. The ropes are so tightly tied around my wrists that, when I pulled my hands the friction caused rope burns. Stinging sensations brings tears to my eyes, but this doesn't stop me from attempting to free my hands.

Clenching my jaw tightly, ignoring the pain, I pull the ropes hard in hope of slightly loosening them. After struggling for a few minutes, I give up as it is useless. Leaning back on the chair, I sigh as few tears escape from my eyes.

I bite my lip to stop myself from crying, as my whole body is trembling from silent sobs. I know one person cannot get lucky for the second time. Closing my eyes, I try my best to calm my frantic heart beating, as I can feel I am on verge of having a panic attack. My chest constricting painfully and my breath is becoming ragged.

"Shhh...calm down, just take deep breaths...I've got you..."

A familiar voice rings in my head as I focus on my breathing. More tears roll down my cheeks, as I clearly know whose voice is this.

"He is not going to come for me this time, he doesn't have any reason to come," I swallow trying to get hold of myself.

I become alert when I hear footsteps nearing the door. My gaze fixed on the door like I can stop the person from reaching me, just by staring at the door. The handle of the door rattle, following by a click sound as the door unlocks. My heart drops into my stomach as the door slightly opens, not knowing what is going to happen with me when Victor is going to come inside. The door opens completely revealing the person behind it. I release a deep breath, which I never knew I was holding, and my whole body relaxes seeing a familiar face.

"Thank God it is you, I thought it is Victor he kidnapped me," words falling out of my mouth quickly," He is one of Owen's friend and that night he was with them. He wants his revenge from me."

"Please, untie me," I lightly tug my hands, only to realize my mistake when it stings more.

"Why are you standing there? Come here and untie me," I expectantly look at him, when he doesn't move.

He saunters towards me, with a lazy smile on his face which makes me narrow my eyes at him. He drags a chair and places in front of me and sits while staring at my face. I look at his strange behavior my expression full of confusion.

He stretches his hand towards my face as my gaze is locked with his, as I am trying to figure the reason for his absurd behavior. When he touches my face I cringe from his touch and lean back in the chair to create as possible distance as I can. He chuckles, but instead of pulling back his hand, he moves closer to me our knees almost touching, and again caresses my face.

"What are you doing?" I frown and move my face to the other side.

"You are so beautiful," he whispers and brushes his thumb over my lips, his eyes following his hand's movements. He leans forward, our nose almost touching, my eyes widen in horror.

"Ben!" I shout as I pull my face away from him," What are you doing?"

Instead of replying he laughs, his laugh sends chills down my spine. Then realization dawns on me, my pulse picks up, as I look at this familiar but somewhat stranger before me.

"Why?" I whisper in disbelief.

"Because I love you," he smiles to himself, " It is time now that you should be with someone who deserves you," he raises his eyes to me, his lips stretch in a grin that creeps me out.

"I thought you were my friend," I say as a single tear rolls down from my eye.

"Shh...princess don't cry," he wipes my tear with his fingers," I can't see you crying."

Then he leans back and puts his hands in his lap," You thought I was your friend, but I don't want to be your friend," he shrugs.

"What do you want, Ben?" I swallow and ask," Why you have kept me here?"

"I want you," he keeps his hands on my tied hands," I want you from the moment I saw you the first time, at Adam and Hannah's wedding. You were..." he shakes his head and grins," You are so beautiful. But you were minor, so I thought I will wait for you."

"But what you did to me? huh?" he narrows his eyes at me and asks like you question a child about his mistake.

"You married that Nathan," he gives me a pointed look and nods.

"You wore his ring in your finger," he grabs my finger and twists it hard, causing me to suck in a deep breath.

No matter what I will not give him the satisfaction of seeing me hurt. So I try to keep a straight face.

"I loved you so much, that I left you," he says still holding my finger tightly.

"But when I saw you that night at Ethan's house and looked how that Nathan treated you. I know that I can't leave you with him," he gives me an innocent look," My princess deserves only love...love that only I can give her."

"I hired Derek," he stops in mid-sentence when he notices, I am frowning in puzzlement.

"Victor, his real name is Derek," he answers my unasked question," he was one of your admirers that night when you went to the party."

"You know there were around eighteen to twenty guys in that room who wanted you?" he watches my face in awe, and cups my face in his hands," but I am the one who got you and I will always keep you with me...for me."

Shutting my eyes I try to block, voices from that night and the horrible person sitting in front of me.

"So where was I?" he claps his hands," Yeah, so I wanted someone who hates you that way he doesn't fall in love with something which is mine." He claims me as if I am not any human but some kind of object of his possession.

"I also want someone who knows Owen, so that he can't harm you," he says, then he turns his head to the side," But that Owen tried to hurt you at that nightclub," he shakes his head.

"You know what I did to him?" he asks excitedly," I killed him," he informs me in a proud tone.

"I would have eventually killed Derek too, but that idiot got arrested," he says and laughs," he thinks that I will save him, but no, I will anonymously give all the evidence against him so he will rot in jail for the rest of his life. And even if he opened his mouth, it will not matter as we will already be far away from here," he smirks.

"Now you don't have to fear anyone," he grins," Nobody is going to touch you, just me."

"You are a disgusting person," I tell him.

"Hey, but don't worry, I will not touch you without your permission," he shakes his head, ignoring what I have said," You will yourself tell me to touch you."

"How can I force myself on someone so delicate...so innocent," he caresses my face with his knuckles, then moves his hand down to my neck. He looks at me and smiles, leaning forward he brings his face to my neck and brushes his lips against it. Then he moves to my collarbone and his hands travel down my arms.

Clenching my fists tightly I try to ignore his breath on my skin. His touch, his breath everything wants me to tear off my skin, I feel so disgusted with myself.

He suddenly stills, when screeching of the tyres are heard. He pulls back and looks at me, then abruptly he stands up and walk towards the window.

"They are here," he looks outside the window, then back at me.

A heavyweight lifts of my heart and body when I hear these three words.

"They are here to take you away from me," he frantically shakes his head," I can't let that happen. You are no one's but, mine."
