Betty's POV

It was finally the night of the dance. Anticipation and excitement ran through my body. Months and months of planning had gone into this and all I hoped for was that people enjoyed themselves. I never thought I'd say this but it'd be finally good to get away from school, as much as I enjoy the company of all my friends I'm sick and tired of having to watch Archie and Ginger laughing and smiling in class and her constantly being at his locker with her arm gently tracing down his muscled chest. I know we are on a break but that boy still manages to make my heart flip. I was taken from my thoughts by a hand placing it self on my shoulder. "Betty?" "Oh my god! Kevin! You scared me." I exclaimed as I turned from my vanity to face him while laughing. "Yeah sorry about that. Your sister let me in. You okay though? You seemed pretty deep in thought." He stated as he plunked himself on the ottoman placed at the end of my bed. I lightly smiled at him before placing down my mascara and turning back to him. "I'm fine, I guess I just though tonight would be completely different." I said with slight sadness in my voice as I sat my self on the vanity chair gently throwing one leg over the other while smoothing out the the bottom half of my evening haze coloured dress. "You thought you'd be going with Archie." Kevin stated as he slowly meant forward a little to meet my gaze while delivering a sympathetic smile. "Yeah." I stated with a quick smile before adjusting the top of my dress while letting out a deep breath. Kevin quickly stood up and walked over to me grabbing my hands bringing me to stand up before him. "Well tonight can still be fun. We will have the greatest time Betty. I promise. Now come on, Veronica and Reggie are waiting for us at Pops." Kevin stated as he grabbed my clutch from the end of my bed, placing it in my hands before handing me my jacket and shoulder bag which contained my bikini and clothes for the after party as we exited the bedroom. Kevin was right, tonight could still be fun, I'm not going to let my thoughts and feelings get in the way of a good night.

As we arrived at Pops, the snow was really beginning to chuck down. The staircase leading up was almost fully submerged in snow. Kevin quickly grabbed the umbrella from behind him before exiting the truck and running over to my side to open the door for me. "Here you go m'lady." Kevin stated in horrible British accent as he held the door open for me before quickly shutting it and locking the car. We both let out a light laugh before linking arms and heading towards the entrance for Pops. The neon signs lit up the dark car park, adding a sense of warmth to the night.

We quickly entered through the glass door bringing in a trail of slushy snow, though feeling the warmth from the radiator flow throughout our body while quickly talking off both our jackets before I hung them on the hanger while Kevin closed the umbrella placing it in a small bucket by the door. We both quickly began scanning the diner only to hear the sound of Veronica and Reggie laughing coming from the direction of our usual booth. Kevin and I quickly began walking over only for me to stop in my tracks quickly grasping Kevin's arm. He was there, Archie. It was easy to identify the figure as him, the structure of his body and his broad shoulders and the way his messy red hair glowed in neon lights. My heart began thumping out of my chest and I could feel my hands starting to become clammy. "Betty? What's wrong?" Kevin questioned as he turned to face me while placing his hand on my shoulder. "Did you know he was coming?" I questioned as I averted my gaze from Archie to meets Kevin's eyes only for him to look in the direction of the table before snapping his gaze back to mine. "What, no. Veronica never said anything about them." Kevin explained as he gave my shoulder a light squeeze. "Look, don't let this ruin your night and plus it might not be that bad, it might be good for the two of you to finally be around each other, you know after avoiding each other for so long. Now come on let's get over there before Veronica starts yelling." Kevin explained in between laughs as he placed his hand on the small of my back guiding the both of us towards the booth. "Hey guys!" Both Veronica and Reggie yelled as we approached there table both delivering huge smiles as Reggies arm draped over Veronica's shoulder. "Hey." I exclaimed with a smile while darting my eyes towards Veronica making it clear to her that I was annoyed about her not telling me that Archie was going to be here, though she just smirked in response. "Well are you guys going to sit?" Reggie questioned as he stared at me and Kevin as we where both just standing facing the booth. Kevin took a quick seat next to Veronica leaving only one spot available for me to sit. I slowly turned to face Archie only to see that his eyes where already on me. God I've missed him. "I can move and get a chair." Archie stated as he began sliding out of the booth only for me to place my hand lightly on his chest stopping him, causing electricity to run throughout my body. "No, no it's fine. Stay where you are." I said as Archie quickly slid back into his place next to Jughead before I slid in next to him with our bodies slightly touching at the shoulders. I could feel the heat radiating off his body acting as a furnace for me while his cologne filled my nostrils. I could feel my body going into a frenzy as I took all of him in, even though we weren't technically speaking I feel safe next to him. I could see Archie in the corner of my eye constantly turning his head slightly to look at me. A blush was evident on his cheeks and it was taking all my will power to not just lean closer to him and wrap my arm around his muscular ones. The silence that hung in the air was uncanny, it was the first time in almost three weeks that Archie and I where properly in the same room as each other  outside of school. "So. Archie!" Veronica lightly yelled as she slammed her hands on the table causing everyone to jolt slightly. "Your performing tonight right, want to spill on information of which song it is. A classic Archie Andrews? Or are you serving us with some new material?" Veronica questioned as she placed her lips around the candy stripped straw taking a sip from her milkshake. "Sorry Ronnie, I'm leaving it as a surprise. It's a new original that's all I'll say." Archie stated as he moved his arm to rest on the top of the booth behind me. Just knowing how close he was sent goosebumps throughout my body making the hairs on neck stand up.

"You're no fun Andrews." Veronica stated as she threw a crumb in his direction while letting out a small laugh. "Crap, guys we better get going. The dance started almost an hour ago. Plus we want to spend at least a little amount of time there, other wise we'd just spend the entire night drunk at Ethel's after party." Reggie explained as he took a look at his watch before signally for all of us to leave the booth. Jughead being Jughead jumped out of the booth by climbing over the back into another one, leaving just Archie waiting behind me. I quickly began sliding out of the booth, unknowingly tangling my feet in the bottom of my dress causing me too fall backward only to be caught by two strong arms. Archie's hands lightly rested on my waist as I feel on his lap causing sparks to fly throughout my body. I quickly turned my head only to realise that our faces where only centimetres apart. Those eyes. Those beautiful brown eyes. It'd been a while since I'd seen them so closely. Like always they're where filled with the traditional Archie Andrews looks. Love, sincerity, care, passion, happiness and concern. "You alright?" He questioned while flickering his gaze between my lips and eyes searching for an answer. "Yeah....Yeah I am. Thanks." I stated with a small smile in between breaths as my heart beat attempted to slow down causing us both to let out a light laugh. "Be careful next time clumsy feet." Archie stated with a chuckle. Clumsy feet, a nickname Archie has had for me since we were kids, somehow I always managed to embarrass myself by how clumsy I was. It warmed my heart just hearing him say it. Both the smiles on our faces grew as we started into each others eyes only to be pulled from our daze and back to reality by the sound of Veronica clearing her throat. "Don't mean to interrupt this beautiful moment but we're already running late." Veronica stated with raised eyebrows and a cheeky smile as her eyes landed on mine. We both jumped apart with me quickly exiting the booth before linking arms with Kevin heading towards the exit. As I looked back to the booth I could see Archie slowly standing up while patting down his suit and straightening his blazer. He looked up quickly meeting my gaze causing a smile to largely grow on both our faces. I've missed that boy so much and Id do anything just to be with him again but was I ready.

Archie's POV

The drive to the dance was silent, all you could was the slight sound of music coming from the radio. Betty got a ride with Kevin while Veronica and Reggie went together. Tonight was the first night in what felt like forever since Betty & I had spoken. Though it was awkward it still felt so natural. I missed her, more than words could say. Holding her, kissing he soft yet plump lips, feeling her soft skin, the way her hands ran down my torso, how she'd tangle her legs around mine at any given time. Everything about her was mesmerising. "Okay you've being smiling like an idiot for the past 10 minutes, wanna tell me what's going through your head right now?" Jughead questioned as he quickly turned his head in my direction before looking back at the road. "Huh? Oh nothing don't worry about it." I stated as I sunk further into my seat while continuing to smile. "Whatever you say man. So you nervous about performing tonight?" Jughead questioned as he turned into the school car park. "Not really, I think I'm more nervous for her reaction than anything else." I explained as I let out a deep breath before looking into the rear view mirror checking my hair. "I'm guessing Veronica told you all about her idea." I stated as I turned back to him as he put the car into park. "Yeah, its actually a pretty good one. You guys are miserable without each other and well it's ruining the fun for the rest of us plus you guys are made for each other and the sooner you're back together the better." Jughead stated as he placed a hand on my shoulder. "Yeah I know man. I agree. There's nothing more I want than to be with her again but what if she doesn't want the same thing." I stated with a slower tone as I moved my gaze to my fingers where they where fiddling with one another. "Listen there's only one way to find out and by what I saw in Pops I'd say there's a high chance that she wants the same thing. Now come on you're going to miss your performance." Jughead stated as he unclasped his seat belt and exited out of the car with me doing the same on the opposite side. We both slowly proceeded towards the building entering through the front doors before entering the gym. "Well nothing like the smell of a sweaty gym and hormonal teenagers." Jughead stated as we continued walking throughout the crowd making me laugh a little. "Well you know it's no different from the usual everyday smell of school." I explained as we stoped at the refreshment table before taking a glass of punch. "Who do you reckons going to spike the punch tonight." Jughead questioned as I handed him a glass. "My money's on Chuck. What about you?" I questioned after scanning the room and turning back to Jughead. "5 bucks on Moose." "Your on." I stated as I shook his hand in agreement before seeing Kevin and Betty enter the gym with Veronica and Reggie. They all quickly spotted us and began walking over. "Took you guys long enough." Jughead stated as he grabbed a cheeseburger from the table and took a bite out of it. "Oh shut up Jughead, not all of us are as desperate to get our hands on our fourth hamburger for the night." Veronica exclaimed as she crossed her arms over her chest while lighting laughing. Jughead just simply rolled his eyes and continued diving into his burger. I couldn't take my eyes off Betty, she always looks beautiful but tonight she's just radiating. The way her hair falls over her shoulders and her eyes glimmer in the light. How silky and soft her skin looks while also glowing in the night light. I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket snapping me from my thoughts I quickly took it out to see a text from Josie telling me to come back stage. "I've gotta head backstage guys. I'll see you all after the performance." I said as I quickly began heading for the main stage only making it halfway when I heard Veronica yell my name. "What's up Ronnie?" I questioned as we continued walking. "I was just making sure that you really ready to do this. It's a big thing." She stated in a quick yet sympathetic tone. "I'm ready, just make sure she's in the room when I'm playing." Veronica gave me a quick smile before turning around and walking back towards the rest of the group.

I quickly made my way backstage pulling my blazer off while rolling up the sleeves of my shirt to reach below my elbow. "You ready Archie?" Valerie questioned as she came round the corner checking on me. I slowly looked up into the mirror letting out a deep breath before turning around and slinging my guitar over my shoulder while heading towards the stage. Nerves swam around my body intensely, while I've performed in front of the school before this was a much bigger risk. It either makes or breaks everything between me and Betty.

"And our next performer is someone we all know and love, performing his new original song please welcome Archie Andrews." Josie chanted into the microphone causing everyone in the gym to start cheering and clapping as well. I quickly walked over to the microphone while taking a seat on the stool, while swallowing the lump in my throat before taking a light deep breath. "So this is a new song I wrote and it's about someone very important in my life and how we've being through so much and no matter what I will always love her and I just hope she feels the same. This is say you won't let go." I explained into the microphone while my eyes locked with Betty's, I could see the surprise look on her face so clearly as her mouth was slightly gaped open.

As I strung the last chord I could feel my heart beating out of chest while sweat slowly formed on my forehead. I looked up to the crowed for my eyes to only meet Betty's like how there where constantly locked on Betty when I was performing who was caught in the crowd with Kevin of everyone slow dancing. There was so much emotion running through the air it was impossible to know what she was feeling. All I can think about is whether she liked it, hated it, did it work or is it officially the end for us.
