>Chapter Thirty-Seven< Cecilia
I left my honor's class that morning feeling rather warm. Whether that was due to the fact that I was sitting next to the heater, or that I was extremely embarrassed, I'm not sure.
I found Nala again, this time leaning up against...my locker.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, nudging her away and switching out some books. She bit her lip. "The principal tracked me down, Cece." She began. I froze. There was no way this conversation was going to end well.
"What did you do?" The question sprang off my lips before I could think about it. Nala pretended to look offended, but her usual spunk wasn't there. I lifted my eyebrows, shutting my locker with a bang, and looked directly at Nala. "What's going on?"
"Your mom called." She said slowly. "She wants to talk to you."
"Why wouldn't the principal just take me out of class?"
"I don't know, tiger, why would he talk to me instead of waiting for you?"
I bit my lip. "Walk down to the office with me?" I asked. Nala nodded once, and smiled at me. "It's going to be okay, Cece." She assured me. I sighed and shook my head.
"Actually, Nala, something's telling me that it's not going to be okay at all."
