Day 13
Your earliest memory
I have few memories from before my brother was born. I remember running inside Winn-Dixie and I remember the scratchy carpet at CVS. I remember going to a country vet and they gave me kitten/puppy bottles to play with. I remember my mom scooping chocolate-covered raisins into a bag at Blockbuster. These are all very vague flashes in my head.
My first vivid memories actually center around his birth. I remember sitting in a cardboard box while my mom asked me my opinion on names. Then I woke up one morning and my grandmother was in my kitchen because my mom had gone into labor and was at the hospital. I slept over at her house that night and my dad came by to visit and brought me a Barbie doll. Also I pooped in the bathtub and cried. I was wearing Barney socks and couldn't sleep and my grandmother got mad at me. My dad got me the next day and I brought my white teddy bear and sat in his lap. I heard babies crying while they got baths. I do not actually remember meeting my brother for the first time. I was two years, eight months, and 14 days old. It is the only thing in my life I truly remember with so much detail before age five or so.
After he was born, my mom said she would get me one thing I wanted, and the bizarrely specific thing I wanted was this
because I saw it on TV. I also remember seeing Fruit Gushers commercials around that time and thinking your head would actually turn into a fruit.
