《87》
I was currently juggling a bowl of cake batter with one hand while the other held a pan of cookies.
Helping out Seokjin's grandmother was definitely a risky call on my part.
When I offered to help her bake, she was ecstatic and immediately threw an apron my way. She had already begun assembling several ingredients on the countertops and had a batch of brownies set in the oven when I arrived, so she already had a head start on things.
I should've listened to Jin's warning about his grandmother. At first, she was so sweet and thankful for my help, but then she asked me to do this and that and I simply couldn't refuse to help her. Of course, she was busy with other tasks as well, but she told me to do several things at once and my head spun as more tasks piled on.
My mind snapped back to my current predicament as the tray of cookies began to tip and I had to jolt to the side to stabilize them. Looking heaven-ward, I could practically hear Jin's words with a hint of an admonishing tone in my head.
"A bit of a heads up, y/n. I recommend you not to offer to help my grandmother in the kitchen. Dawon's learned that the hard way as have all of the boys. If you catch her at the wrong moment and offer help when she most needs it, she will latch onto you and basically make you her slave around the kitchen. If you choose not to listen to me, which you will already be punished for should you have gone farther than my instructions, I seriously order you not to spill anything or make a mistake. Like, at all. She will be sweet no more." He ended off with a shudder and a far away look before he turned to me and smiled gently at my panicked expression.
As I said, I should've listened.
"Dear, could you pass me the cookies please! Thank you- Oh and do set that cake batter on the counter. Think you can start icing the base of the Christmas sugar cookies? Shoot! I completely forgot to cut the shapes out of the snickerdoodles! Could you do that, too? You are such an angel!"
Her back was turned to me as she was setting the cookie tray snugly in the oven while also taking out a pie. She couldn't see the pure misery I was in, but I simply shuffled towards the counter to do as she asked. Multitasking on various things, I couldn't really enjoy the activity as I did my best to finish all the tasks set before me. The Christmas tunes that had been softly playing on repeat through the speakers were really starting to make my eye twitch as I did my best to ice with a stable hand. I simply mentally cried for my follies.

"Thank you so very much dear! You were such a great help and are officially off the hook!"
I let out a relieved sigh as I began to trek towards the exit until I heard her tell me to stop. I immediately felt my face pale as a wave of dread fell over my being. What now?
"Come over here and try one cookie of your choice! I normally never let anybody have a taste early, but you deserve a treat, sweetheart."
My eyes lit up as I eagerly bounded up to her as she laughed at my reaction before gesturing to the wide variety of cookies. I've iced so much and my mouth watered the entire time I decorated, so this was definitely something I wouldn't pass up.
I spotted one of the cookies that I iced and added a discreet extra eye on earlier to make it special. Choosing it, I instantly took a bite into the soft, gooey, warm treat and nearly moaned at how satisfying it tasted. It melted in my mouth and soothed my taste buds all while stimulating it with the sugar rush at the same time. The cookies were perfect and I definitely looked forward to stacking my plate high with them tomorrow.
Seokjin's grandmother laughed before commenting, "Just the same as everyone else! Glad to know I haven't lost my touch."
Sheepishly smiling, she patted my shoulder gently before shooing me out to get rest. Gladly following her orders, I stepped out and roamed the halls all while enjoying my reward. I took my time to glance into a couple rooms just to see if I could catch any of the boys or even Dawon's presence, but each one was empty. This was expected though as I could tell most of the guys rather stuck to either the bedrooms to relax or in one of the entertainment rooms instead of the study rooms.
Still, I decided to check out the last room on the downstairs hall just to make sure. Opening the door a smidge revealed a dimly lit room that looked to be a mini library with large windows that gave a beautiful view of the backyard. Seeing nobody in sight, I was about to back out until I bumped into a chest and stumbled forward on reflex. Whipping my head over my shoulder to glance at who had startled me, I caught sight of a familiar bunny-like grin.
"Jungkook! You scared me out of my wits!"
An easy laugh rang out as he leaned down towards me which caused me to back up further into the room.
"I can't believe you couldn't even hear my footsteps. I even made sure to let out a small cough earlier, but you didn't notice at all!"
"You're lying! I totally would've heard you!"
Cheekily shaking his head, I narrowed my eyes up at him and pressed an accusing finger against his chest before claiming that he purposefully meant to scare me.
I was taken aback when he leaned even closer to my face and prevented me from backing up when he placed a hand smoothly against my lower back. He suddenly sniffed and I tensed at the gesture.
"You got to taste the famous cookies that are only meant to be eaten on Christmas."
I cast a brief glance towards the small amount of cookie in my hand which caused him to follow my gaze, however before he could try to snatch it I lifted my hand and stuffed it into my mouth.
"Hey! You could've shared!"
"Nope! It's too late. Mmm, this is so delicious and sweet."
Jungkook's gaze darkened as he watched me exaggeratedly express my love for the treat.
"You're gonna regret that."
"Regret what? I earned it fair and square."
"I wanted some."
"So?"
"You should've let me taste some at the very least."
"It's all gone. See?"
I waved my hand in the air mockingly but he suddenly grabbed my wrist and stopped the motions. I was about to ask why, but the words got lodged in my throat as he leaned forward and licked a stripe up from my palm to the tip of my middle finger.
My cheeks warmed instantly as he didn't stop and continued towards my index finger before going to my thumb and sucking a bit. The wet sensation of his tongue muscle flexing over my skin caused light tingles to follow and a buzz brushed down my back when he got to the sensitive dips.
He released my thumb with a soft 'pop' and looked up at me.
I thought he was gonna turn into the blushing bunny he usually would be after such a bold act, but my breath got taken away a second when he said, "I don't think that was enough."
He suddenly cast a brief glance up above both of us before mischievously grinning at me. I looked up as well and my focus landed onto the small brush of mistletoe that hung over the door.
"That's a perfect excuse for me to taste more."
I couldn't even let in a breath before he leaned forward and pressed his lips against mine. Widening my eyes at his actions, I caught a glimpse of his eyes watching my reaction before shutting and tilting his head to further the kiss. I lightly gripped his shirt to hold steady before shutting my eyes as well and following his lead. We gently kissed for a couple of seconds before Jungkook's tongue traced my bottom lip asking for an invitation.
I granted him passage and he tightened his hold around me as he twirled his tongue with mine. The sensation was not exactly new after a couple shared kisses with the others, but I still haven't grown used to it. A soft whimper pushed past my lips and he reacted by placing his free hand against my jaw and tilting my head to get a better angle.
Overwhelmed with the welcoming shocks that invaded my systems at the recognition of its soulmate, my head started to get a bit hazy and filled with thoughts of Jungkook. He knew how to kiss and was definitely holding the reigns as I tried my best to follow and imitate his actions.
A few moments later, he was the one that started to back up first and as soon as we separated our lingering lips, heavy pants escaped both of us. My eyes fluttered open and I caught sight of Jungkook already intensely looking down at me while he panted slightly and his shoulders heaved a bit with each breath he took. I slightly loosened my grip on his shirt as he did around me.
"Wow. That definitely sated my hunger for cookies... although, I could always go for another taste."
Letting out a small smile in response to his smirk and wiggling eyebrows, I leaned my head forward to rest against his chest. I could faintly hear his heart thumping at a fast pace and my grin grew wider at the effect I had on him.
"Don't be so greedy."
"I can't help it. You're like a drug that I have to take daily or else I might just die."
Letting out a small chuckle, I tilted my head up to glance at him and noticed how funny he looked from the angle he was in.
"Though your words may be flattering, this angle isn't."
I let out a laugh as Jungkook immediately frowned before purposefully tilting his head further to produce a more prominent double-chin.
"How about now? I know it's a lot, the hair, the bod- when you're staring at a demi-god."
I immediately erupted into more laughter as Jungkook joined in while swaying us a bit.
"Really? A Disney reference?"
"Who says it's a simple reference? The description from the lyrics are only speaking the truth."
"You're too much sometimes."
"I prefer the term, flamboyant."
"Oh my. Did Namjoon teach you that?"
"Perhaps?"
Rolling my eyes at his obvious mock obliviousness, my lips eased into a gentle pucker as I leaned up to place another kiss upon his lips, to which he generously returned.
A few seconds passed of simple bliss. As we swayed at the entranceway of this study room, enraptured by each other's presence, it was a moment of peace for my mind. I just allowed the remaining worries to drift away as Jungkook eased the weight off my shoulder through his gentle caresses.
"What are you two doing!"
The comfortable atmosphere shattered the moment the silence was broken. Jungkook and I leaned back and turned to the side only to see a familiar woman marching up to us with pursed lips and an infuriated expression.
"M-Mrs. Park, we ca-"
"Shush! You both knew exactly what you were doing!" She stormed up to us before halting and crossing her arms with a hip jutted to the side. She looked irked but had a sly tilt to her lips as if she had caught us doing something illegal and was ready to snitch.
"Uh, kissing?"
"Kissing in a secluded area that is away from the public eye. This is an act of infidelity to my sweet boy. I caught you both red-handed."
"Woah, woah, wait a minute. What? You didn't catch us doing anything wrong."
Jungkook brought his hands forward to accentuate his words through hand gestures while I crossed my own at her confrontation. Jimin's mother merely cocked an eyebrow and let out a scoff.
"Nothing wrong? You two are over here smacking lips while Jimin has been pondering over y/n's whereabouts this entire time! How could you do this in the first place, y/n? I thought you were a sweet and loyal girl. Turns out looks can be deceiving."
"What are you insinuating here! Jungkook is my soulmate just as much as Jimin is! I am in a relationship with both of them as well as the others and we've all mutually agreed to be with each other. I'm not cheating!"
"Let's be honest here, you can't possibly love all of them. There's always going to be favorites and jealousy, and this whole "relationship" will break in the end. And my dear Jimin is just confused. As his true soulmate, you should only support him! These others were simply a test from God to challenge yours and Jimin's loyalty! Clearly you have failed!"
"You've taken this too far. How could you possibly think that way! You have a soulmate so you know how we feel about each other! Jimin can also love whoever he wants, not just y/n!"
Jungkook took a step forward, but Jimin's mother immediately took a step back in fear and put her hands up in defense. I pulled Jungkook back behind me because I noticed his jaw and fists clench.
"You better stay back and stay quiet! I've never liked you. I could go on about details, but why waste my breath. Y/n, you're really starting to upset me. I thought I could give you a chance, but I'm quite frankly disappointed in you. I had hopes that Jimin would have a better soulmate, but perhaps this may be an opportunity to set him up with someone else."
My resolve to stay polite snapped as she looked to the side in thought.
"What the fuck! Who are you to say anything about Jungkook, or I- or anyone for that matter! Your judgement means nothing to anybody but yourself! Who cares if you don't like any of us, what matters is Jimin's opinion. We are his soulmate, not yours! You also can't choose who he loves or ends up with either. He is an adult who can make his own life choices while you were simply the woman who carried him for nine months. What obligations could you possibly have over him?"
"I personally believe that soulmates are a concept that shouldn't have existed. I myself left my own soulmate for this life and look where I am. As a successful business woman, I should know what I'm talking about! Jimin doesn't love you! He is brainwashed by this useless concept. I know who he loves and what is best for him! I have nothing over him except his complete and utter trust in me."
"You are holding something over him! We all know it! Everything you are saying is so blinded and wrong. You can't control every aspect of Jimin's life for your own personal gain. The fact that you admitted that you left your soulmate for success only further implies that you would use your son for the same reason."
The loud clap and my vision suddenly turning to the side registered way before the pain did. I was shocked from what just happened, but I felt Jungkook immediately tug me back and gently massaged my burning cheek with the pad of his fingers while asking if I was alright.
I couldn't respond or focus on his actions. I looked straight towards Jimin's mother who was heaving and held a face of pure outrage. A quick glance to her reddened hand made what just happened fully register.
She slapped me.
"You don't know anything! I am doing what's best for Jimin! He will listen to-"
"How dare you!"
