《86》

"All I want for Christmas is you, baby!"

I let out a groan as I lifted both hands and tried to cover my ears from the screechiness emitted from Namjoon's voice. The others were either curled up like me or laughing their heads off.

Namjoon was doing his best on the last note.

But it hurt.

He prolonged it for a couple seconds after the music stopped before finally having mercy and letting his voice die out while ending off with a dramatic pose.

I let my hands drop and looked over to the boys who were sprawled around me, trying to catch their breaths. Taehyung had a few tears in his eyes as his boxy smile was shining at the current events. Jimin was curled into Yoongi as the latter looked unbothered with headphones blasting loud music over his ear plugs. Jungkook and Jin were sprawled on the floor with red faces and aching stomachs from laughter.

Namjoon plopped down exhaustingly next to me on the couch before joining in on the laughter too.

"Told you I could hit that high note."

"What are you talking about? I never said you couldn't."

"Could've sworn someone challenged me to. Anyway, I delivered the best concert that any of you guys will ever witness. It's a shame it wasn't filmed."

Hoseok leaned over from next to me and devilishly smiled as he held his phone up and shook it slightly.

"Please say something to your fans, RM."

Namjoon's face paled before he tried to scramble over me in an attempt to retrieve the phone. Hoseok let out a yelp as he stood up just as Namjoon dived over my lap. I let out a wheeze from the sudden weight.

"No! Give me that damn phone, Hoseok!"

"Never! This is gold!" Hoseok chuckled as he ran to an empty corner while the room began to erupt with laughter again.

"Namjoon! Get off me!"

Namjoon hastily got off my lap before biting his lip in a moment of contemplation as he glanced between Hoseok and I. Letting out a wince as I brought a hand over my chest to regain my breathing, he leaned down and gently cupped my face.

"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"

Glancing up at him, I could tell he felt truly apologetic as his lips were slightly turned down in a pout and his eyes worriedly scanned over my form.

"I'm fine."

"Really? Are you sure? Did I bruise you or break anything?"

I rolled my eyes before playfully shimmying several areas of my body to check if their functioning was working and then inspecting my hands and legs closely for show. Deeming myself fine after tilting my head from one side to the other, I looked up at him and flashed a smile.

"I'm really fine. No need to fret, Joonie. Thanks for checking though."

He let out a sigh of relief before sitting next to me and pulling me closer to him. He shot a glare at Hoseok who was mockingly dancing where he stood.

Suddenly a knock sounded at the door and we all shot each other glances silently asking who would answer it- before ultimately looking over at Hoseok.

He looked surprised before mouthing 'why me?'

Jin mouthed 'Because you're already standing. Go answer it.'

With a pout, Hoseok begrudgingly walked over and opened the door a smidgen to answer whoever was on the other side.

Wisps of the conversation could be heard as the others began to straighten themselves up. I curiously tilted my head closer, as if the sound would somehow be amplified after leaning closer a couple of millimeters.

It wasn't long before Hoseok opened the door wider to reveal two maids who held trays of several tea cups. Both bowed before fully stepping in and walking over to the coffee table. Jin immediately tried to clear the space, but they politely handled clearing it off and telling Jin that he didn't need to help.

Once it was all set, the maids picked up the empty trays and some trash littering nearby. Both smiled and one said, "We have brought you all several cups of chamomile tea to help settle you after supper. Please enjoy and let us know if there is anything else you may need."

"Thank you. We don't need anything else." Namjoon politely spoke for everyone as both maids respectfully bowed again and made an exit.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding when the door closed without any further interruptions.

"Ooh, pass over the tea!" Taehyung stood up on his knees and waddled his way towards the table. Since Jungkook and Jin were closest to it, they simply scooted closer and each took a cup themselves.

Namjoon began to sit up and released me from his hold. Before standing, he turned to me and offered, "I can get you a cup. Want one?"

Nodding in response, he happily went over to grab two, however the moment he grabbed them, his hands began to tremble. After the first step, Hoseok swooped in and took one out of Namjoon's hands.

"Nobody should trust you with porcelain tea cups."

Namjoon looked offended as Hoseok grabbed another cup for himself and playfully blew a raspberry towards Namjoon as he walked past. I gratefully beamed as Hoseok gently eased the cup into my hands. As he was about to take the seat next to me, Namjoon swiped the phone from his back pocket and gingerly sat at the far edge of the couch before typing away quickly with one hand while frantically glancing at the steaming cup in his other.

Hoseok surprisingly didn't react much. He got comfortable besides me and watched Namjoon with an amused look.

"Aha! Deleted! Never to be found again."

"No fair! Give me back my phone."

Namjoon slid it over to me and I handed it over as Namjoon nestled besides me and wiggled his eyebrows at Hoseok. The older took a moment to scan the contents on his phone before he frowned.

"Damn, you even deleted the one in the trash folder."

"Duh. I'm not that dumb."

Namjoon had the audacity to cross his legs and elegantly straighten as he took a sip from his tea.

"That's a shame. You really thought you did something, huh?"

"What."

Namjoon almost spit out his tea as his face blanched. He noticed Hoseok's frown turn into a sly smirk as he pocketed his phone.

"Why not check what I sent you and everyone else?"

Namjoon at least set his cup down first before picking up his phone from nearby and unlocking it.

I let out a choked laugh as I saw the video Hoseok messaged to the group chat.

"Why!"

"Cause I love you. Oh, and in case you wanted to know, I have several other ways to access that video than simply through my photo album. Tsk tsk Namjoon. I thought you would've at least known better."

Namjoon facepalmed as I high-fived Hoseok. The others laughed at the scene while Jungkook played the video out loud to further Namjoon's mortification.

❀♡❀

The next two days were moderately normal. Christmas Eve couldn't come soon enough.

I often found myself in the presence of Dawon and Seokjin's grandmother when the boys were whisked away to do another activity.

Meeting their male relatives was terrifying. Thankfully the boys were all with me when the men decided to have a chat.

If we're being totally honest here, they acted more laid-back compared to the women. Some whooping when they heard each of the boys had finally bonded left me a smiling mess by the end of the story. Surprisingly, the only one who gave off a stubborn vibe was Taehyung's father.

He appeared to be handsome yet obnoxious. Often straying closer to Namjoon's father, I could tell he kept his distance and rarely glanced at me.

Taehyung barely stood near his father and rather stuck close to me. When looking at Taehyung, I can't help but be confused as to why such a sweet boy has parents who seemed ignorant and stuck-up. He definitely received the nicer personality from some other variable.

On the other hand, Jimin's father at least made an effort to speak with me. He didn't seem too bad after the initial greetings and then we held a typical conversation over the weather. I didn't know whether to continue talking about other topics because when we both agreed that the weather has definitely been colder lately, which was obvious, it just got a bit quiet between us. He held himself firmly and didn't give off a stance that indicated the dislike of my presence, but when he started to cast awkward gazes around the room, I didn't know if I should say something. Jimin thankfully swooped in and helped ease the awkward atmosphere.

Jin's grandfather was less out-spoken compared to Jin and his grandmother. He allowed me to sit with him near the couch and asked me how I was doing. He exuded a paternal affection that I instantly became comfortable with. He nodded as he heard me speak and listened intently. In addition, he gave off advice and threw in a few stories throughout the exchange and I just felt the want to sit with him near the fire as he told me a bed-time story even though I was already a college student. When Jin came by to see how we were doing, his grandfather took the initiative to compliment several aspects about me and made me a blushing mess when he warned Jin against ever hurting me. Jin wholeheartedly agreed with his grandfather and sometimes casted a glance over where he rolled his eyes or winked. The two were very amusing and I can see that both of Jin's grandparents have definitely nurtured the older well.

Jungkook's father was very similar to Jin's grandfather. He listened to what I had to say and was very kind about his inquiries. We even had some shared interest in a few topics and bonded over such discussions. Jungkook hovered by the whole time and shared his input as well. Between the three of us, I felt giddy and comfortable. Jungkook's father was truly an easy man to converse with and gave off a soothing fatherly vibe that made me feel safe and content near him. He often embarrassed Jungkook by bringing up childhood stories and causing the younger to whine and complain, but nevertheless listen closely and look up at his father with admiration. It was sweet to see the close relationship they had and how easily Jungkook's father had allowed me to join in.

Namjoon's father was definitely intimidating. When I first stepped up to him, Namjoon was already caught in a discussion with Jin and his grandfather. I timidly stepped closer to the man who was looking out the window and sipping from his cup. When he turned and glanced at me, his facial expression made no change and gave off no indications over what he felt upon seeing me which worried me a bit. After re-introducing myself and greeting him, he gave off polite replies that were curt and short. Not once did he ask any questions. It was more of me asking him rather standard questions and him answering with common responses. Not much was noted and I excused myself when I ran out of ideas on how to continue such a dry exchange.

Such contrasts between the family members definitely caused my head to spin a bit over guessing how they think of me or whether I made a good impression. The boys were quick to reassure my negative thoughts, but they never completely dissolved.

Over the course of the other days, it wasn't too terrible. I've danced around certain people and tiptoed past others. After finally meeting all the family members one to one, mealtimes were much more comfortable since the ones that appeared to like me included me in the conversations often.  On the day before Christmas eve, we did get to go skiing and snowboarding. That was a notable experience, especially since I got a face full of snow within two minutes of getting the hang of the skis, but it was fun for everyone. The boys and I really got closer over the short duration that we had in each others' presence. Often someone got whisked off by a family member to do something or finish some tasks and most times I stuck with Yoongi if Dawon or Seokjin's grandmother didn't need me.

Christmas was fast approaching though, and I just hoped no drama would occur in the duration between now and then.

I woke up with a groggy start. Light suddenly flashed through my vision and I responded with a wince and immediately curled into the body besides me. With my face burrowed against the person's chest, I took a whiff from a familiarly musky scent. Arms encased me and someone nudged their head affectionately against the top of mine. Letting out a content sigh, I snuggled ever closer into the warmth and almost fell back to sleep.

Then the blanket was ripped off of me. With a jolt, I peeked an eye open and didn't note much except the feeling of my face smooshed against the shirt of Hoseok and a cold feeling that wrapped around me with the loss of the blanket.

"Wake up you two. It is Christmas eve!"

"It's not freaking Christmas! Why should we wake up so early. We were so comfortable!"

I let out a small smile as I felt Hoseok's chest rumble with his whines before recognizing Jin's familiarly exasperating sighs.

"It's the same time you both have been waking for the past couple days. I even gave you two five extra minutes! Now get your damn asses out of the bed or I will personally take one of you hostage and remove you from the cuddle you two are currently in."

"Five more minutes please."

"Nope. Guess we're doing this the hard way, huh."

I tightened my hold around Hoseok as he did the same around me. With our limbs tangled together, Jin's threat really couldn't pull through as I felt his teasing fingers wrap around and attempt to pull me out.

"No~ Go away!"

Apparently he finally got the hint to give up on that tactic when he finally eased his tugging.

But then he tried the tickling tactic on Hoseok's side and the guy really couldn't hold in the peals of laughter that bubbled out. He immediately loosened his grip as he tried to fight the hands of the imposter. Jin's own laughter joined with Hoseok's while I let out a soft sigh in defeat. Of course he couldn't fight off the tickle monster.

With Hoseok's body jostling and nudging into me, I decided to simply let go and roll over to the other side of the bed and leave him to face Jin on his own. Snuggling into the pillow instead, I ignored Hoseok's cries for help and voiced out betrayal, simply resting my eyes and trying my best to catch the remnants of whatever peaceful dreams that I could.

This of course didn't last long. As soon as I began to doze off again, I let out a yelp as I was suddenly lifted up. The unfamiliar shift in position caused me to flash my eyes open and look up into Namjoon's soft expression.

"Don't you dare go back to sleep on us."

"Oh c'mon! Can't a girl get some rest?"

"Good question. It's time to start the day."

"It's actually time to go back to sleep."

"Once you wake up you immediately want to go back to sleep?"

"Astute observation, Joonie. That's true. I wake up in the morning and immediately can't wait to sleep again."

"You give me a headache. You're already alert and oriented."

"Says who?"

I narrowed my eyes up at Namjoon but he suddenly let me go and with another squeal, I safely landed back onto the soft bed with a slight bounce before looking up at him with wide eyes.

"Good morning, late bird! Breakfast starts in thirty minutes. Hoseok appears to be in the bathroom." I turned over my shoulder to see Jin on the other side of the bed with the blanket in hand and a gentle smile.

"It was you who stole the blanket!"

"I never stole it if I'm bringing it back."

"Shame on you."

Jin just shrugged before laying the blanket down and began to spread it out while ignoring my crossed arms and pout. I let out a huff before a hand gently ruffled my hair. Looking back up, Namjoon was already looking at me.

"Did you sleep well?"

"I slept pleasantly. And yourself?"

"Well, yes. It was quite congenial to my tastes."

Shooting him a blank stare, he playfully rolled his eyes and nodded.

"I slept fine. Oh look, from the bathroom emerges a wild Hoseok who can barely walk straight or keep his eyes open due to the parasite of sleep deprivation which grips onto his very soul."

"Namjoon, I think you need rest too."

"Me? Pshh, I'm fine."

I look at him inquisitively before Hoseok announces that I can use the restroom now and I take that as my cue to leave. Standing up, I place a light peck on Namjoon's cheek without warning before skipping towards the bathroom.

A/N: I UPDATED!

I am so sorry for such a late update. The past month has been so hectic and busy and I've explained this quite a bit through my posted messages, but for those who don't know I'm just explaining that I didn't have much time, energy, nor motivation to write if I'm being honest. I understand that I'm not the best at staying true to my schedule, but this was so late. I feel so guilty and I just wish I could've been more prepared before I hit this period of time. I won't go on and on about my apologies, but I am sorry and I hope you understand a bit that I just won't always have the time to update. It's not just about me writing every minute that I have free time, but it's also the thought that has to be placed in writing. I'll continue to try and do my best though ❤

Question Time! Did you miss me? 🥺🥺

Just kidding, heh. Is there an interesting tradition you, your family, or your friends do?

It doesn't have to be religious or really important, but could be something as simple as game night or movie night.

I have a tradition for myself where every year I draw a new art piece on a dry erase board with an inspirational quote that stays up for the whole year. Weirdly, the date I started it really has no significance other than being that the first time I drew on the board was when I was bored.

bonnehh_ Ah, I'm so late in posting this! My lovely artist has made another beautiful piece and please appreciate the beauty of it.
