《78》
The date wrapped up pretty smoothly. After watching the short meteor shower, we stayed out a bit longer with light conversation of the upcoming trip floating throughout the air.
They asked lots of questions regarding my family and wanted to make sure to appeal to their favor. I kept reassuring them to be themselves, but they insisted on knowing what their likes and dislikes were.
I answered to the best of my abilities, but they still looked nervous. I suppose I'd look the same when it came close to the time where I'd meet their families so it's not completely wrong for them to feel that way, but who wouldn't like their natural personalities?
Once Hoseok let out a yelp when a moth flew near him, we decided it was past the time to leave. We still had to pack throughout the day tomorrow and drive down to my hometown.
❀♡❀
As soon as we stepped out of the elevators, I tiredly allowed Hoseok to drag me forward by pulling my hand. I was close to dozing off in the very short car ride and was ready to pass out. The others weren't much better, but nonetheless we arrived at our floor without losing anybody.
Sighing as we stood in front of the closing elevator in a sort of circle, I glanced at each boy's face and couldn't help but internally admire their appearances even when tired.
"Well, we all need our sleep especially after such an eventful day. How did you like today, y/n?"
"I loved it. Sadly it looks like your hoodies and ryan plushies are safe from my grasp."
Namjoon let out a cute chuckle as the others smiled at him even though they didn't understand the context.
"I don't mind leaving them in your care. Remind me later. I really need rest."
"I second that. Thank you guys for taking me out today. It was a blast and I had so much fun."
"That was a mere first date. More shall come." Jin winked as I smiled.
"Good night guys. I'm tapping out." Jungkook pouted as he turned to walk down the hallway.
"We all should retire. Night." Jin took the initiative to place a peck on everyone's forehead and yelled a 'muah!' to Jungkook's distancing form.
We all laughed as Jungkook pretended to catch it without looking and smacked it onto his forehead. Afterwards, everyone said a brief farewell and turned towards their designated rooms. Taehyung ran up ahead of Jimin and I to join Jungkook right before the youngest stepped in. They exchanged a few words before Jungkook simply led Taehyung in with a light pat to his back.
I smiled softly at the display as Jungkook shut the door and I neared my own.
"Hey y/n?"
"Yeah Jiminie?"
"Do you by chance want to sleep with me?"
I shot Jimin a blank look as we paused in front of his door and he looked at me with uncertain eyes before they widened.
"I meant like sleeping sleeping!"
I cracked a small chuckle as I replied, "I know and sure. I can't possibly walk the ten steps to my room. It is simply too tiring."
Jimin grinned before letting me in. Sure over the course of weeks I've technically had sleepovers with the others since my apartment was nearby, but I haven't really been alone with someone before.
Currently my ability to realize that thought was dimmed down and I simply followed Jimin into his room before flopping onto his bed without a care.
"Y/n! That dress must be uncomfortable."
"But sleeping sounds so nice."
It was silent and I began to lightly doze off before Jimin's voice startled me near my ear.
"You're such a big baby. At least change into some comfortable clothing before drifting off."
I peeked one eye open and saw Jimin's caring expression before grimacing at the idea of moving.
"Unless... you'd allow me to change you myself. I can't promise I can control my hands but I-"
"Fine, I'm up." Sitting up took lots of effort but Jimin chuckled and quickly tossed me a large grey hoodie with black sweatpants that could be tightened.
I let out whines and annoyed huffs while I changed as Jimin stepped into the bathroom to give me privacy and change himself. He often laughed and made small comments from the bathroom about 'sucking it up' and 'you'll thank me tomorrow'.
When I shimmied into the comfortable article of clothes Jimin gave, I didn't care to properly fold my dress. I just threw it onto the floor and sighed in relief when I tucked myself into the bed. Jimin stepped out soon after and let out a light giggle when he caught me cozily snuggling his pillow. Turning off the lights, which left on his dim nightlight, he stepped closer to the bed.
"Make room, boo."
"That takes even more effort, cutie patootie. I'm comfortable where I am."
Jimin snorts as he gripped onto the pillow and immediately tugged it out of my grasp.
"Hey! No, give him ba-"
"You have me instead, pumpkin." Jimin grabbed one of my outstretched arms and put it around his waist as he comfortably slid into the area the pillow was before. My eyes slightly opened and vaguely caught sight of a grinning Jimin.
I watched as he adjusted his head until he was comfortable on the pillow he rested upon and set his arm around me tightly.
"Good night, snuggle baby."
"Ooh, that's a bad one. Night stud muffin." I watched him slightly wince and let a small smile appear before burrowing my head into his chest and wrapping my leg over his hip. He pressed a kiss upon the crown of my head before we drifted off to sleep.

"Holy shit did I leave my earbuds behind?"
Everyone turned to the back where Jungkook sat with wide eyes. We were halfway through the car ride and to say the least, we were cramped and had a cranky Yoongi.
The trunk was stuffed to the brim with items and we had to hold some bags on our laps or at our feet just to accommodate. It was a lot, but we would technically be gone for two weeks.
"You what?" Jin's voice held a deadly tone as he flashed a glance into the rear view mirror.
"I don't need it! It's good!"
"I thought I said to make sure you packed everything?"
"I did! I meant to leave it on my desk because I, uh, didn't want to break it over the trip. I'm totally okay without them. Totally great!"
Jungkook gave two shaky thumbs up as sweat formed on his face.
"Very well. Did anyone else miss anything?"
"That's the fifth time this ride you've asked. Other than Jungkook, I'm sure we're all fine, hon. Right everyone?" Namjoon held a tense smile as he turned from the passenger seat to scan us. It was like a car trip with my parents again. It was scary.
We all nodded in unison as Jin glanced back once before nodding and turning up the music again.
Taehyung and I nudged Jungkook at the same time and he let out a tiny yelp. Jimin looked over his shoulders at us but just smirked as he caught sight of Jungkook hunched over in pain.
"You guys are mean."
"Don't know what you are talking about." Jungkook glared at Taehyung as the older looked out the window nonchalantly.
"Kookie, do you want to share earbuds?" Jungkook glanced over and slowly nodded. Letting out a smile, I offered him one side and he gladly took it.
Leaning on his shoulders, I whisper out a 'sorry' before he turned and let out a soft smile before kissing my cheek. We continued to share our music as we rode along.

Stretching as soon as I stepped out, I let out a huge yawn while glancing at the familiar house.
The others were beginning to unload my bags as I dropped my hands. A tap on my shoulder caused me to look over at Hoseok who flashed me a tiny grin.
"Hey, remind me if your mom likes orchids or roses. Or was it tulips. I forgot!"
Hoseok mildly panicked as I instantly placed a hand on his shoulder and made him look at me.
"Calm down Hobi. It's okay. You shouldn't stress this much! They'll like you even if you don't know their favorite plants. Just relax and be yourself please. I don't want you to panic over every detail. Trust me, they will not rip your head off if you said you liked, I don't know, Hitler. Well- actually-"
"Do they like him? Shit, I should've listened more in history."
"You're joking right?"
"Uh, yeah. Obviously, of course." Hoseok shook his head in a daze as he started naming different flowers under his breath and walked away.
"Oh my gosh! Well if it isn't my little girl!"
I turned at the voice of my mother and she smiled brightly at the doorstep. All of the boys' heads snapped up in attention as I simply let a similar grin grow on my own face.
Stepping up towards her, I noticed my father behind her inside the house and sneaking a peek at the guys behind me with narrowed eyes.
"Mom! Dad! It's been too long!" I embraced both as they hugged me too tightly.
"Oh my goodness! Have you grown? You look like you've been taking care of yourself well. Still acing those classes?"
I simply nodded in response before glancing behind me and noticing the guys awkwardly standing near the car. Rolling my eyes, I beckoned them over.
Namjoon led the way as the others basically followed in a single file line. Yoongi wheeled up my luggage as Jimin held the smaller bags. Once they reached the door and crowded around the entrance, both parents looked a bit overwhelmed as they observed each person.
"Guys, uh meet my soulmates."
❀♡❀
At the dinner table sat me, both parents, my younger brother Haesuk, Namjoon, and Seokjin. The others had to eat out in the living room because there weren't enough chairs. The living room was its own separate room, so I didn't know how they were feeling.
It was quite the impression earlier when the whole family gathered into the living room and each of the guys introduced themselves. Haesuk was looking between me and the guys in disbelief as I stuck my tongue out at him. My mother had recovered first and was very kind during the conversation with them.
My father was the silent one. He didn't make any comments except when my mother prompted him to and he stared down each boy. I could tell the guys were uncomfortable when they were the target of observation.
Surprisingly, they made it out alive through the questionnaire and dinner followed soon after. Now was the awkward moment between Namjoon, Jin, and my father.
I knew he was being too silent earlier.
"So how long have you known her?"
"Since the start of the year sir. We did mention that we lived in the same apartment building and were neighbors."
"Uh-huh. How about between you two?"
Both men glanced at each other before Namjoon responded, "A couple of years now."
"What are your intentions with my daughter?"
I slightly coughed in surprise as my mom flashed my dad a warning glance.
"W-well she is our soulmates and our goal is only to, uh, love, protect, and cherish her."
My father hummed without a change in expression. I instantly tried to change the conversation and ranted about how large the cafeteria was as both Namjoon and Jin let small breaths of relief at the change. I gripped both of their hands in a reassuring manner under the table as they listened to my mother's response.
❀♡❀
"Well aren't they a lovely bunch!" My mom turned to my dad and flashed him a smile with an underlying tone clearly present.
My brother snorted from his position on his favorite beanbag chair in the living room and said, "So, how much did you pay them, y/n?"
I let out a gasp as my mom scolded my brother for me. I let out a groan at his sour attitude. Of course he would be a brat during this time.
Currently, the boys all offered to finish the dishes and were adamant on letting my family and I rest in the living room.
My hands fidgeted as I glanced at my father who sat with his arms crossed and held a stoic expression.
"Uh, so dad... you're not planning on their murders, are you?" He slowly dragged his eyes from the television to me. I let out a nervous chuckle, but his expression wasn't amused.
"Be honest with me. Have they done anything bad to you?"
I gulped as his eyes pierced through mine in a knowing manner. I could never lie to his face. He always knew.
My first mistake was looking away.
The second was stuttering 'no'.
The third was looking back and seeing his eyes narrow with a malicious glint.
"What did they do?"
Now I caught the others attention as I nervously bit my lip and cast my gaze down.
"Well, we've had arguments before as all, uh, soulmates probably have. Even then, we were friends before we even found out and you know, sometimes we had our differences."
"Elaborate please."
"It's just college drama dad. I should really go check on them."
I stood up as both parents silently watched me. I quickly shuffled out of the room to avoid their questioning gazes.
Entering the familiar kitchen, I sighed at the sight of all the boys messing around. Seokjin, Taehyung, and Jimin were finishing up the last dishes while Jungkook and Namjoon leaned against the wall by the fridge and conversed. Hoseok back hugged an unwilling Yoongi as the latter fussed near the center island.
I smiled as I fully entered and Jungkook immediately walked over and hugged me with an exclamation. The others all happily greeted me as I went around and lightly patted each of their backs in greeting.
"You guys hanging around alright?"
"Yeah! Your mom is so welcoming and your brother is actually kind of funny."
I rolled my eyes at the compliment directed towards the brat but nevertheless nodded in understanding.
"Has your dad said anything about us?"
I looked towards Namjoon as he looked at me with a doubtful expression.
The others keenly listened as I let out a low sigh and looked up with an apprehensive expression.
"Kind of. I mean, he's just being protective, you know? Sorry if he seems intimidating, but I'm sure he doesn't have any negative views on you. He just met you all! Don't worry, he'll warm up to you all soon enough."
They gave small smiles with expressions that didn't look too convinced.

A/N: I swear, I've updated late so often that I need a freaking code word just to apologize. Sorry :(((
However, I think I have a good idea of where I will be going with this. I know not all parents would act like the ones I portrayed, but for the story's sake let's not complain and move on with the plot. I debated on skipping a technical meeting between the 'family' and the guys, but decided to just add it. I hope you guys don't feel uncomfortable with the story set like this. (I also know this is exactly why many stories leave the family out by killing them off or cutting off all connections hmm.)
Question Time! Give me some dad jokes!

bonnehh_ Perfectly captures an iconic scene!
