《77》
The others completely cracked up at the story Jin and I shared as soon as we returned to the table. They also cheered for Jin over finally bonding.
That makes me officially bonded with four of them. Yoongi, Taehyung, Namjoon, and Seokjin.
Every moment occurred so fast and weren't quite coordinated. They seemed to just happen.
We left soon after finishing the desserts and paying, to which I still am suspicious of them for.
We rode in the same cars back and met up as a group in an open park. I was surprised once we arrived at the seemingly familiar destination. Dim headlights lit up the empty park grounds, yet the moon's glow seemed to make up for the dark areas. From where we parked, I vaguely saw the outline of a playground, but I couldn't figure out much about it. There was an open field and walking paths set around.
I hastened my footsteps once I noticed the others gather a bit of distance away while I admired what I could see.
Catching up to them, they smiled and seemed to surround me as we began to walk. The path was narrow enough to fit two people, so naturally we walked in pairs. I was walking with Namjoon at the lead as I glanced around everywhere.
The soft melody of the night and the gentle setting that we walked through seemed to make the ambiance even more romantic. The satisfying crunching of the leaves, skeletal branches of the trees, and glacial air reminded me that it was indeed the midst of winter. I let out a soft puff of air as the dark atmosphere only lit up the stars from above and highlighted the soft rays of the moon.
"Did I mention that you look pulchritudinous tonight?"
I tilt my head towards Namjoon as he flashes me a smile. He said the phrase in English which had me lost for a moment.
"Thanks... at least I hope it was a compliment."
"Of course it was. It means that you are beautiful."
My face flushed as I glanced away from his flattery.
"Don't hit me with something like that without a warning. That goes for all of you."
"I apologize, then I'll warn you next time."
I roll my eyes as he playfully winks. A light tap causes me to look over my shoulder and glance at Jungkook who looked at me with a shy grin.
"How are you feeling so far?"
My eyes cast over the others who seemed to perk up at his question and look over at me with interest. I let out a content hum before responding, "Happy. For sure. I had a lot of fun."
"That's good to hear. We thought we could end it off here."
Jungkook took my hand and led me forward ahead of the others. He sped up his pace a bit as the others began to playfully complain while quickening their steps to join us. Jungkook completely went off the path and crossed the field with me towards the direction of the playground.
I let out a laugh as Jungkook occasionally yelled back a clever response and shot me a wink. The breeze blasted against my face but I couldn't care less. My heels were definitely torturing my balance, but I kept up with the pace as we neared the destination.
My eyes lit up once I realized it was the park I had seen when I first moved in. I haven't visited it at all since moving in, but it definitely looked different at night. The colors of the playsets seemed more vibrant and Jungkook didn't hesitate to pull me up the small steps. I fumbled a bit with the uneven grounds, but Jungkook only held my hand tighter and slowed his pace a bit. He finally stopped over a bridge like structure that connected two areas of the large playset.
The others soon joined from both sides and we all let out laughs as they all ruffled Jungkook's hair and mildly scolded him.
"Isn't this playground made for ages 2-12?" I glanced over at Taehyung who flashed me his familiar boxy grin.
"Shh, that is merely a number placed to prevent adults from having fun."
"This structure might break under our weight!"
"Don't lower our esteems like that." I giggled as Jin pouted. We began to quiet down and silence overtook the area as the others began to lean on the edges of the bridge or against one another.
"So, why did you guys bring me here? Anything significant?" The boys glanced at one another as if seeing who would speak up before ultimately looking over at Namjoon who sighed in defeat.
"There is supposedly a meteor shower set to fall tonight."
"Oh. How did you know?"
"Well, I uh heard about it about a week ago. I'm usually up to date with these events and didn't think much about it... Then when we got to talking about this date, I thought this would be perfect."
I let out a pleasant hum as I continued to look up and try to see something.
"It should start soon. While we wait, perhaps we could pick a nice patch of grass to sit on rather than risk breaking this bridge." We all simultaneously agreed to Namjoon's statement as we couldn't deny the groaning and creaking of the bridge under our combined weight. I followed the others as we began to race towards the grass field. It wasn't the most ideal situation I would set myself in, especially with my attire, but it was fun to join the others as we ran.
Hoseok suddenly yelled out that he needed to get something from the car and ran off in the other direction. The others simply nodded and soon reached the middle of the field. It was vast and the cold air helped cool off the beads of sweat that formed. I was suddenly hugged from behind and turned over to see Taehyung's squished face on my shoulder. He smiled as I smiled back.
"I'm back!" Hoseok's voice permeated through the air as I looked over and noticed he was struggling to hold a really large blanket. Jungkook and Seokjin went over to help him set it upon the prickly grass flooring. It was larger than I first thought, but then again eight people would be sitting upon it.
Everyone soon took a seat and I was situated in front of Taehyung as he wouldn't release his hold on me. I didn't mind as he brought extra warmth but was surprised when he suddenly opened up his suit jacket and tugged me in closer to wrap the jacket around us both. It didn't do the best job, but I appreciated the warmth his chest exuded and the happy buzzes I felt through the bond.
Glancing over, I note Namjoon and Seokjin laying side by side with their hands entwined. Yoongi and Hoseok sat with Jimin in between as they huddled together and watched the skies.
Then there was Jungkook who plopped down in front of me and held out his hands with a pout.
"I want cuddles too." I cooed as I felt Taehyung's chest rumble with a slight laugh and opened his arms for Jungkook to join. Jungkook scooted forward and wrapped his arms around both mine and Taehyung's form. Taehyung could barely wrap the jacket around Jungkook and settled for holding onto the younger's shoulders. I was squished between the two, but I didn't mind.
Jungkook's face was very close to mine and they shined with the reflection of the galaxy. My breath hitched as I vaguely felt Taehyung snuggle into my back and the murmured voice of Namjoon as he rambled over his usual intellectual spiels.
"Hey y/n, this is your warning."
Jungkook gives me an earnest look which caused me to grow confused but nodded for him to continue nonetheless.
"I'm happy to have met you. Yeah, we have already had some pretty bad times in the short duration that we've known you but I truly am glad to have you in my arms now. I just don't think I've ever truly apologized even though it's been so long. I'll do it now before I forget. I'm sorry for my actions and words. I know I spoke out of turn back then and I especially shouldn't have lashed out at you. Although you say you've forgiven us, I need to assure you that I never meant to be so... harsh. Especially that one time when I said you were like my mother, I still feel my gut twist thinking about that. You're not and I hope you never took my words to heart. I would never actually consider you as similar to her in any way because I truly trust you. I know- or at least hope- you'd never leave me and I believe that statement with my whole heart. I'm truly and utterly sorry."
With his head lowered and his eyes downcast, he couldn't see the shocked expression I wore. I'm sure Taehyung heard him because of his tightened grip around me and a sudden somber feeling. I couldn't help but feel my heart squeeze at his candid apols.
"Jungkook..." He slowly lifted his eyes as my heart softened at the vulnerable boy in front of me. My hands shifted from their folded position on my lap to Jungkook's frozen cheeks. He let out a shaky exhale as he allowed me to further tilt his head up.
"Thank you for your sincere words, but why do you think I forgave you even before hearing any of that? Because I trust that you never meant it and understood your pain and anger towards me. You believed I hurt Yoongi and betrayed your trust so you had a normal human reaction. Though it wasn't the best, and hurt a bit, I still forgave you and let the past float behind us because why hold a grudge when I understand the other side? I'm glad you let that off your chest now because I can only wonder how long you've been planning to tell me all this. Jungkook, you sweet but pest of a boy, I trust you as well and know that your words and actions of the past weren't what you meant. Your clarification solidifies that but it also solidifies my faith in you. So, thank you."
I let out a small smile as his eyes seemed to slightly tear up while his lower lip wobbled a bit.
"And of course I wouldn't leave you. You can try all you want to shake me off your back- use pepper spray, do a flip, I don't know, get some bear to attack me- but I won't be peeling off. I'm in it for the long run with all of you and it may be too soon to say that, but even without the soulmate bonds I know I feel an inner connection with you all. Fate only nudged us closer, but I truly feel like we were meant to belong."
A tear dropped down his face as he shut his eyes and leaned forward, immediately pressing our lips together. It's as if I subconsciously anticipated this as my eyes fluttered shut and I tilted my head so the kiss could deepen.
I felt my body explode with emotion as Jungkook's blasted at me in full force. I've never felt this much of an impact from the other bond creations, but couldn't help but accept it all as Jungkook pushed forward and conveyed a feeling of absolute... euphoria.
"Look! The first shooting star! Quick! Everyone make a wish."
"That is actually a glowing meteoroid as it passes through the Earth's atmosphere at extreme speeds of-"
"Namjoon, I love you but for the love of God shut the fuck up."
I couldn't help but giggle into the kiss as Jungkook snorted. So much for a romantic moment. He pulled away and we met eyes. The kiss was only for a fleeting moment, but the buzzes of his happiness ran up my spine in full force.
"Jungkook, why are you so happy? I can feel your emotions overflowing."
Jungkook looked over at Yoongi with his eyes shining and yelled, "We bonded! My wish is to stay with all of you for the rest of eternity and to be happy forever!"
"You don't say your wish out loud Kookie, then it won't come true!" Jimin pouted playfully as Jungkook continued to grin.
"I don't need to wish for it. I'll do whatever it takes to keep us together."
"Aww, bunny." Taehyung cooed as he leaned forward over my shoulder and brought Jungkook down to nuzzle noses. I was pressed against Taehyung's chest and over Jungkook's shoulder I watched the first meteor fall across the sky as more flashes followed behind it. I zeroed in on the first before shutting my eyes and thinking.
I wish for Jungkook's wish to come true. Please little meteorite, have a safe travel and work your magic.
