1.6 | A Lie For A Kiss

Sapphire

I put in my math book into my locker, taking out my money to buy my lunch. Turning my head to the side, I see a figure approaching me and smile at Ian when he keeps walking towards me.

"Hey," I say, looking up at him as he stands in front of me.

"Kiss me." He orders, slamming my locker shut.

I jump up in surprise at the sudden action, but I quickly compose myself.

"Is she coming?" I ask, turning my head to look behind me, but he grabs my face and makes me look up at him instead.

"Yes, now kiss me."

I do as told, getting on my tippy toes as I lean up to kiss him. He kisses me back slowly, before he pins me against the lockers and deepens the kiss. My eyes widen and I try to push him away.

This isn't part of the deal.

He pulls away, a full on smirk plastered on his face. "I lied." He confesses, turning around. "She wasn't coming." Then, he walks away.

I simply stand frozen as I stare at his retreating figure, my fingers gracing over my slightly swollen lips. He exits the building and I notice him looking over his shoulder for a second before the door closes again. Biting my lip awkwardly, I begin to walk in the same direction he did.

When I exit, I see him leaning against a pole with his arms crossed over his chest. He turns his head in my direction and instantly pushes himself off the pole, beginning to walk towards me.

I look at him with furrowed eyebrows when he stands in front of me, my face becoming warm when he grips my waist, in which he reacts by smiling in amusement.

"Why are you blushing?" He teases.

"I'm hungry."

His face falls, "You're blushing because you're hungry?"

I look behind him and my mood instantly changes when I see Julissa passing by. She turns to smirk at me and I hook my arm around Ian's, feeling a sense of security.

"Yes, can we go somewhere outside of school? Like now?" I plead, wanting to avoid another confrontation.

He looks down at me with a small smile, making me let go of his arm so he can wrap it around my waist instead. "You wanna get me alone that bad?"

I look up as I narrow my eyes at him. "Seriously?"

"Hey, Ian." Julissa suddenly pops up beside us and Ian's arm instantly tightens around my waist. "How are you?"

He ignores her, keeping his attention down on me. "What do you want to do, beautiful? I can buy you lunch from the cafeteria, or do you want to go out of campus to grab something good?" He asks me, and I look at Julissa, who is staring daggers at me.

Feeling a new sense of confidence and feeling safe beside Ian, I smirk, keeping my eyes locked with Julissa's. "I say we go out of campus, but not to eat."

I'm probably gonna regret that, but oh well.

He catches on and wolf-whistles, leaning down to kiss my temple. "I like your way of thinking, babe."

"Wait, you guys actually have sex? I thought it was a joke." She scoffs, "You definitely downgraded."

Ian looks visibly annoyed. "Like I said before, our sex life is none of your business. And no, if anything I actually upgraded, because your personality is shit." He argues, holding me closer to him. "She's amazing in every way possible."

"She is?"

"I am?"

His gaze meets mine for a second, before he nods at her. "Yeah, she is."

I turn to look at her and shrink back against Ian as I see her glaring at me, looking as if she wants to murder me.

"Don't hate her for your own decisions, I gave you everything and look at how you paid me back." He scoffs, and she looks taken aback for a moment.

"Ian, I love y—"

He cuts her off by waving his hand in front of her face, "Don't give me that bullshit." Then, he looks down at me and holds me even closer. "Come to my game tonight, yeah?" He offers me a charming smile.

For a moment, I forget that Julissa is right beside us.

For a moment.

"I'll be there too, baby." She speaks up in a sickly nice voice. "I would love to see you there too, Sapphire."

He sighs, "Julissa, I would love it if you could kindly fuck out of my life. Thank you, we're leaving."

Julissa stares at him with her jaw dropped, and I look down at the ground as he guides me away from her.

I gotta be careful not to run into her on my own again.

"I heard that she got kicked off the cheerleading team, and Ivan completely ditched her, too." Gloria and Amber talk amongst themselves beside me.

"That doesn't exactly stop her from flirting and sleeping with other guys, though." Amber replies, followed by a crunch of nachos.

"Speak of the devil, and he shall appear." Gloria mutters.

I wince as someone kicks my leg and I look up to catch a glimpse of Julissa's smug look, before she keeps walking and sits three people away from me.

"Watch where you're going, no one wants to catch whatever disease you have." Amber calls out, and when Julissa turns to glare at her, she adds, "What's wrong? Forgot your contacts today? Is that why you have to squint?"

"Shut up, bitch." She replies lamely.

"Nice comeback, but please do yourself a favor and save up all your comebacks in a piggy bank then crack it open when you have a better one."

Everyone around us ooh's and high fives Amber as Julissa turns back around to watch the game begin, a deep scowl painted on her face.

I smile as I hear them snicker and focus on the game, watching the players run out of the locker room. I watch as Ian turns towards the bleachers and beams like a kid during Christmas morning when he spots me.

I wave at him and he winks as he blows a kiss in my direction. Oh, god. Pretending to catch it in my palm, I place it over my heart and smile.

"Ooh, que cute." Gloria coos, and I look over at her to see them both grinning at me.

"Ooh, indeed." Amber winks.

We win the game by four points and my heart flutters when the first thing Ian does is run up to the bleachers. Jumping, he hoists himself up and hops over the fence that separates the field and bleachers.

My eyes go wide as people give him space when he goes up the benches instead of taking the steps, grinning as he looks directly at me. I know everyone's eyes are on us, and I feel myself blush in embarrassment.

I don't like being in the spotlight.

He opens his mouth to speak once he stands right in front of me, "Don't I deserve a congrats-kiss?"

Amber nudges me and I look over at her, only to see her smug smile. I mentally groan when she winks.

No doubt, he saw that.

He chuckles at my hesitation and catches me by surprise when he grabs my hand and pulls me up, causing me to squeal in surprise when I crash into his chest. He instantly wraps his arms around my waist and I'm very thankful for it, because the moment he presses his lips against mine, my legs become a little weak.

I blame it on my iron deficiency.

"Care to share?" Ian laughs, reaching for the bag of chips I'm currently tipping over to pour into my mouth.

Every time I'm on my period, I crave and eat everything in sight.

I put the bag down to answer his question, "Mm, no."

"Aw, come on." He whines, pouting.

I pause for a moment, before stuffing my hand into the bag and taking out one chip. He smiles as he reaches for the bag, but I pull it back and place the single chip into his hand instead. Smiling innocently, I tip the bag again to stuff my mouth with more of the chips.

He simply shrugs, stuffing the chip into his mouth and continuing to watch the game playing on the screen.

I soon get tired of the same taste and reach over to the coffee table to grab the peanut butter jar and a spoon. I unscrew the top and throw it somewhere behind me, before shoving the spoon into the jar and scooping out some creamy goodness.

I stuff the spoon into my mouth and hum in content as my taste buds enjoy the delicious taste. Let's just hope my face doesn't decide to break out after this.

"I'm glad to see that you're enjoying yourself, but I'm sure this—" he motions to the mess of food, wrappers, and empty jars laying on the coffee table. "—isn't healthy."

"Om fime, zhank you." I mumble.

He makes a face and laughs. "Okay, that's gross."

Coming up with a great idea, I smile mischievously as I stand up.

He eyes me warily, "What are you—"

Before he can react, I scoop up some of the peanut butter onto my fingers and jump on top of him, running my fingers across his cheek. He looks at me in bewilderment, and I laugh wildly to myself, falling flatly onto my back.

He stays frozen for a moment, before he finally speaks. "Oh, you are so paying for that."

I laugh as he pins me to the couch and grabs the whipped cream from the coffee table. I try to wriggle out of his hold to get away, but he holds me in place.

"You're not going anywhere." He says, an evil glint shining in his eyes.

"Let me go!" I shout, watching the can come closer to my face as I try harder to get away. "No!" I wail, his finger pushing the nozzle and spreading the cream onto my lips.

He watches as I lick it off and hum in satisfaction at the taste. He laughs as he watches me struggle to get away, but after a few more seconds, he stops and simply stares at me. I pause from struggling and look back into his blue eyes, trying hard to swallow the lump forming in my throat.

We stay in that position for what feels like forever, but it is only mere seconds.

Suddenly, he begins to lean down towards me and I freeze in my spot, watching him getting closer and closer with each passing second.

My heart hammers against my chest in overdrive and I try so hard to even out my breathing, but with his lips only centimeters away—correction, millimeters—I can't seem to think straight.

All too soon, the space between us increases once again and I'm left laying there in pure confusion, watching him get off me before he storms towards his room, slamming the door behind him.

I sit up and stare off into the distance, a little dazed.

That was weird.
