The City of Gold
Adam stopped the caravan suddenly. It was around evening.
"Adam, why did we stop?" I asked.
Thalia's eyes widened.
"Take a moment and feast your eyes on the great city," Adam said, placing his crown on his head and gold armour on his horse.
That's when I saw it.
There was a massive city lying in front of us, all the walls of the buildings made of gold and the streets made of stone bricks.
"Woah..." muttered Mitch, his eyes wide with awe.
"Let's go to my castle," Adam said. "Then, we'll have a feast."
We walked down the roads toward Adam's castle (which looked pretty frickin' awesome). When the people saw Adam, they bowed or curtseyed.
All the people either wore black jackets with gold ingots on them or dresses that looked like they were made of gold.
"I have to say, this kingdom is a lot less... blue than mine," Thalia laughed.
"It's a lot more buddery," Adam said, grinning.
"So, what's the approximate population of the Budder Dimensions?" Bashur asked.
"Woah Bash. Getting pretty scientific," Ian said.
"Around 9 million people, Bashur," Adam said.
"9 MILLION!!!???" spluttered Ryan.
"Yeah," Adam said, completely chill.
Soon, we arrived at the front gates of Adam's golden castle.
"Who goes there?" asked one of the guards.
"King Adam and friends," Adam responded.
"Come in, your buddery majesty," said the other guard. "Open the gates!"
We rode in and saw a courtyard with a fountain in the middle. There were two golden swords crossing each other in a crest on the doors to the main hall in the castle.
Thalia leaned over to me.
"When you're in this kingdom, you have to call gold budder. You'll definitely pay the consequences if you don't," she whispered, pointing to a budder sword in an item frame.
I'm now calling it budder. Like, all the time. I don't wanna die...
We reached the throne room and Adam pushed open the doors. In the middle of the room, there was a budder throne and two statues of swords on either side.
Adam climbed into the throne and sighed.
"This is... so natural," he said.
"What do you mean?" asked Jerome.
"I mean, it feels like I was born to be here," Adam said. He looked out of the stained glass windows and smiled.
"I can imagine living here with you guys," he said.
"I probably have to go back to my kingdom, but it isn't too far. Maybe a two day journey," Thalia said.
"You can come visit whenever you want," Adam said. "You helped us get here."
Adam stepped down from the throne and beckoned for us to follow him down the hallway.
"Come on, guys. Let's find your rooms."
We eventually found a bedroom that was perfect for me. It had a huge canopy bed and cyan blue carpet. The floor was made of quartz and there was a small desk in the corner of the room, which had a laptop on it. I had my own bathroom, which I was happy about. There was also a closet for all my armour and clothes.
Everyone else found their rooms and unpacked. I put all the stuff from my backpack either into a closet or one of the many chests I had. When I was done, I went into the throne room, which was empty and quiet.
I looked around at everything. The ceilings, the floors and the walls. I sighed.
"Do you miss your home, Austin?" someone asked. I turned around and saw Adam standing in the doorway.
"That was a random question..." I said.
"I know. I was just wondering, since it's been a long time since you last saw your family," he shrugged.
"To be brutally honest, I haven't really missed my family. My dad and brother were alcoholics and my mom mostly ignored me, because I was the youngest kid. You guys pretty much became my family," I said. Adam grinned.
"Welcome to the club, bro," he said.
"Thanks, Adam," I grinned.
I turned and walked back to my room, still smiling like an idiot. Looking out my window, I saw the sun setting, the light shining through the orange stained glass by my bed.
I cuddled in and fell asleep easily, feeling happy and light hearted.
I loved having 7 brothers. Their names were Adam, Ty, Mitch, Jerome, Ian, Bashur and Ryan.
