Sans and Chara sat at the dining table across from each other. Both looked awkward and nervous. They both had a mug of tea courtesy of Ichika. Shota, Hizashi, and Natsumi were on standby in the living room watching a movie with Ichika and Grillby.

Chara - "How, uh...how are you feeling Sans?"

Sans looked at her impassively.

Sans - "Like the brother I raised is gone before he was supposed to be. What the hell do you think?"

His response was unusually snippy and made her flinch in on herself. They sat in an awkward silence for a long few minutes just staring at anything except each other. Sans was clearly agitated, if the smoke rising from his hair and subtle reddening of his eyelights was anything to go by. Chara let out a shaky sigh.

Chara - "When I was stuck in Papyrus's soul, I saw glimpses of your guy's past. His emotions, his thoughts. It was because of that, I was able to purge Frisk's bloodlust from me."

The smoke from Sans's head slowly thinned out. A deep depression filled his eyes.

Sans - "What did he think about?"

Chara started fiddling with her fingers.

Chara - "He thought of the times you cooked for him, when you brought him to Undyne to start his Royal Guard training, when you read fluffy bunny, when you came home with his racecar bed, a lot of puns and jokes."

San let out a breathless chuckle.

Sans - "After he started his training, he started acting like my jokes were the worst thing ever. I knew he still loved them though."

Chara - "The main thing he thought about was how supportive and encouraging you were. He didn't want to give up and just submit to W.D, he was undercover and we worked together to help keep Nova's magic up."

Sans - "Did you know he was going to sacrifice himself the way he did?"

Chara looked down and wiped her hands on her black dress.

Chara - "I did. We discovered his ability to open portals into the Void, and any free second he wasn't being watched, he practiced opening bigger and bigger portals. That...creature that took both of them...It's not even the biggest thing in the Void. Strangely, They never reacted to Papyrus with hostility. They weren't affectionate, but they didn't harm or hunt him. If I remember, you and Nova also use the Void, right?"

Sans - "Yes, I use the Void to take shortcuts to go places I've already been to. Nova uses the Void to store stuff."

Chara - "And now Papyrus has a Void ability. Only you three, W.D never had such a power. I wonder why only you three have this ability."

Sans - "My theory is because we weren't born like every other monster. He made me and Nova from varied amounts of D.N.A from other monsters and himself. Papyrus was the only one he made completely from his own biological makeup. Maybe his Void ability only woke up when his LV was raised. Or maybe it was the change in environment. I can't know for sure since Papyrus isn't here."

Chara - "I'm sorry. I didn't want any of this to happen. I'm so sorry Sans."

A deep, full bodied sigh escaped his lips as he slumped back into his chair and started typing.

Sans - "I don't blame you, Chara. You and Asriel were my first friends when I was still just a small baby-bones. I was helped to remember my past through hypnotherapy. I'm not happy, in fact I'm pissed at you, at him, hell, even at Papyrus. I know it wasn't you though. The Chara I remember never liked seeing others in pain, let alone upset. Over time, I'll stop being so angry so please, don't blame yourself."

Chara - "Okay...did you know that Mr Shota is going to adopt me?"

Sans - "It doesn't shock me. He's like Batman, adopting troubled kids wherever he goes. He's a good man and a good father. He's leaps and bounds better than Asgore and Toriel combined at least. You'll be happy with Azzy and Hitoshi as your brothers. How are you enjoying your school? Are the kids being nice to you?"

Chara - "They only like me because I can turn into a ghost. They bully anybody who doesn't have powers. Me and Asriel stick up for them though and the bullying is going down."

Sans - "That's good. Keep it up. Who knows, maybe you'll be a hero one day."
