Chapter 9; Flowey, or Asriel?
"papyrus help me!"
Flowey watched helplessly as Sans was sucked through a colorful wormhole portal thing. He couldn't believe thing was happening. He and the skeletal comedian were just starting to get along.
Halfway through the year, Dr. W.D Gaster and Alphys built a portal to look for Sans. Sure there had been plenty of monsters more qualified to look for the elder skelton brother, but to Flowy, it was a personal mission to get him back. No one else in the Underground knows about the reset, of all the crap he, Sans, and that bastard human had been through. He needed Sans back.
When he leapt through the portal, it felt worse than dying. The humans back than really hurt him as he fled, but this was worse. So much worse, and so much more painful. He truely wondered if Sans survived at all. He did only have one HP.
Landing in a dingy alley with a broken mirror, several overfilled trash cans, and a moldy suitcase, he carefully looked around. A faintly glowing blue spear and a dust and dirt cover bone prompted him to get up and run.
Wait, run?
Slowly, he looked down. Furry legs, furry arms, and uncovered furry abdomen. Running to the broken mirror he saw he...looked like himself. Before he died and the experiment to bring him back as Flowey. His ears his hands, his feet, everything was there, in his former princely glory! Turning to the gross suitcase, his pried it open his his claws.
An old, mody business suit greeted him. The white button up shirt seemed to be the only piece of clothing without grime and minimal mold. The shirt was slipped on and secured at his waist with the leather belt.
He picked up Undyne spear first. It immediately reacted to his magic. It thrummed with new life. From the semi-sentient spear feeding from his magic, the faint blue glow was replace by a warm and vicious red. Undyne spears gave off a cool feeling, like water. This spear reacted to his fire magic, giving off a magical warmth.
Tucking the spear and bone into the belt, with easy access if the need arose, he walked toward the alley's exit. It was close to nighttime, humans and monster still walked about, taking into small bricks. He quite shocked that monsters and humans weren't attacking each other. He saw a cat monster walking slowly before stopping by a tree, but he didn't let his attention stick to him for too long.
Said "cat monster, Tamakawa Sansa noticed the young child attempting to hide behind a tree. The child's attention keep flitting from one person to another, keeping his hands close to a glowing spear spear. The child wore a grimy white shirt, tht looked more gray. It had many rips, but was still decently coving the child. Tamakawa pulled out his cellphone and called Detective Tsukauchi.
"Hey Tsukauchi, I'm in Kagoshima prefecture right now. There's a small child wearing nothing but a thin white shirt and an belt...Yes it covers what needs to be covered, but it's obviously old, ratty, many frayed rips and tears. They don't have pants for crying out loud...Yeah, they look on edge. Like they think someone is going to attack them. They're hiding behind a tree, watching everyone walk by...Doesn't look older than ten, but it looks like they have a mutation quirk, so they could be younger than that...Nothing like that, like a really fluffy goat lion hybrid...Okay, I get him fed and properly dress. I'll seen you in Kim's Barbeque."
After hanging up with Tsukauchi, Tamakawa approached the kid.
"Hi bud, I'm Tamakawa, what's your name?"
"Fl...Asriel Dreemurr."
"It's nice to meet you, are you hungry?"
"Yes."
Tamakawa didn't know whether to be relieved that he didn't have to persuade the kid to follow him or worried that he didn't put up a fight. Taking him to the Korean barbeque was far easier than telling the staff there what was going on. And they understood immediately!
A couple of plates of beef and chick later Asriel was leaning back in his seat, rubbing his full belly. He hasn't had actual food in literal centuries.
"So, Dreemurr -"
"My name is Asriel."
Okay. So, Asriel, what's your favorite color?"
"Green and yellow."
"Would you like some new clothes in those colors? We can come back here afterwards."
"Okay."
Asriel didn't trust this cat monster but he was inadvertently giving him information about this world. This cat monster was a "policeman", that world's royal guard. The food gave no healing stats no matter how much you ate. Humans and monster got along so well, it's like there was never a war between their two races. The human servers were so polite to both him and the cat monster, that it weirded him out a little.
Getting out of the squishy red booth, the cat monster held his hand as they was to a strange looking machine. Not wanting to look out of the ordinary, he got into the front seat, next to the cat monster. The machine roared with life, scaring Asriel a small bit. He forced himself to calm down, seeing as the cat monster wasn't looking scared or worried.
"I forgot your name. What is it?"
"Tamakawa."
"Too long, I'll call you Tama."
"Okay, we're almost there."
The machine stopped and Ariel was more than willing to get out of the monstrosity. Tamakawa held his hand again, much to his annoyment, as they walked inside the build. There were clothing everywhere. Looking down at his gross shirt and belt, Asriel felt a bit self conscious.
"Go ahead pick out an outfit you like. Ma'am, could you help him, I have to make a call."
"No problem sir. Come here sweetheart. I'm Himari. What's your name?"
"Asriel."
"Let's find you the best out, okay Asriel?"
"Okay."
Thankfully she didn't hold his hand incessantly. She took his to a variety of childish looking shirts. With her help, he was wearing a plain, pale yellow shirt, a dark green zip up hoodie, and a pair of khaki cargo pants.
"Don't you want shoes?"
"I don't need shoes."
"Okay honey. How old are you?"
Taking a moment to think back to his appearance.
"I'm eight."
"You're quite mature for an eight year old."
Asriel paid the comment no mind as he picked up a black leather belt from a table. Himari showed him how to put it on. He quickly tucked his spear and the bone into the belt before following Himari to the front.
"It seems that your friend's a little busy. I'm going to take my break early and take you to the arcade."
"No thank you."
"Oh? Is there something you'd rather do?"
"No. He's done talking into the brick."
Tamakawa approached them, paid for the clothes and took Asriel to a large open field with strange metal contraptions.
"What is this place?"
"It's a public park."
Walking on the grace, the same golden flowers Asriel died in grew instantaneously. Thinking about that, make him smirk. He quickly vanished into the ground and popped up several feet away. He kept doing that until he was tired and hungry. He found Tama talking to a human, putting him on guard. He stood in his golden flowers as the two males walked up to him.
"Hey, Asriel. This is my friend Tsukauchi. He's going to take care of you."
Tamakawa quickly left.
"Okay. My name is Asriel Dreemurr."
"Nice to meet you Asriel. Mind if I ask you some questions?"
"No."
"Wonderful, let's go sit on the bench."
Asriel traveled through the ground to the bench, sitting down instantly.
"What's your quirk?"
"What's a quirk?"
The human had a strained and worried smile on his face.
"A quirk is a person special ability to do extraordinary things. Like those flowers you created by walking of the grass."
"So this world calls their magic quirks, and from the lack of magic in Miss Himari, she didn't have one. So not everyone in this world has a "quirk."
"My quirk's name is Flowey."
"R-really. That's a, really clever name. How old are you, Asriel?"
"Eight."
"Where's your parents?"
"My parents are...dead."
There was no way he was telling this human where his parents were, not that he could ever get to them.
"I see."
From there, for an entire year Asriel was forced into living in a foster home. It wasn't terrible though. His foster parents were called Shota and Hizashi and they had a cat called Smore and an older son called Hitoshi.
Asriel didn't forget his mission, but it wouldn't hurt to have a home base in the meantime, right?

I'm so proud with how this chapter turned out! I actually wrote this one out on paper first, so that's why it took a wee bit longer than usual to come out. I love the it turned out in the end.
As you tell, I actually love Flowey (or should I say Asriel) to bits and pieces. I gave him the best redemption I could, so no he isn't evil!
This chapter is dedicated to @cat_ninja1019, their Undertale story, The Skeletal Hero: Karmic Judge (If you like this story go check that out out, super amazing) is reaching the big finale! I personally cannot wait for it!
