I found AJ incredibly pleased with himself for getting the number of a guy who particularly caught his eye.

"He was so nice," AJ reported to me. "He even offered to drop me at the after party but I refused. However, I did say I was going to meet him there... Why are you driving so fast?"

I slowed down and ran my hand through my hair annoyed. I had removed my bun as soon as I got into the car so it was more or less tangled now.

"One. My boyfriend is a d*ck. Two. The same d*ck is in a car with a friend. Three. This friend is female and 100 percent wants him," I stated. I saw the place immediately as there were cars piled up in the driveway. I parked a few metres away and left my purse under the car seat.

"Okay. Are we starting the plan? Or nah?"

"Yep." I quickly braided my hair so I looked presentable and got out of the vehicle. We followed the laughing group of people who were mostly students judging by their age.

The party was being held inside a house which could be described as a mansion. Inside looked more like a club rather than a place people lived in. AJ, somehow, already had a bottle of beer in his hand.

"Don't get drunk," I warned him.

He slung his arm around me. "I won't, Rhea. I have a high tolerance. And I'm a shifter. I'll shift into my sober self."

"That's impossible, AJ."

Someone tapped my shoulder and I turned to see Kane glaring at the arm around my shoulders.

"Rhea, can I talk to you?"

"Course. I'll see you in a bit, AJ." He nodded at me then went into the crowd. Kane took my hand and pulled me to a secluded area outside. "What's up?"

"Who's he?"

"Who? AJ? He's a friend," I said.

"Why is he here then? I only invited you."

"And I invited him. Like you invited Tash to our anniversary. Do you see the similarities?"

Kane opened his mouth to try and defend himself but it never came out. He paused, soaking in the information I gave him.

"So you're being petty?"

I didn't even think when I punched him. He clutched his nose in pain.

"Sh*t!" He yelled. A guy opened the window next to us and stuck his head out.

"You alright here?"

"We're just fine," I said sweetly. The guy closed the window assuming it was okay.

"Why the f*ck would you punch me Rhea?" Kane hissed out.

"Don't be such a p*ssy. And I'm not being petty! You're being a hypocrite." I put my hands on my hips, feeling superior.

"I'm sorry then. I didn't know you felt that way. I'll stop hanging with Tash so often."

"Good."

Kane groaned in pain again. Maybe I hit him too hard... Or not.

"Kane? Are you here? Tyler needs to know where your costume is." Out of the shadows was Tash who had a knack for finding Kane. "Oh my god. What happened to you?!"

She ran to him, trying to find out what was wrong with him while I glared at her. Kane pushed her away and went back into the house.

"What did you do to Kay Bear?" Tash hissed at me.

She has a nickname for him? Hell no. "B*tch, his name is Kane. That's the name on his birth certificate. He also goes by the name my boyfriend incase you didn't know."

"He's my friend so shut your mouth. How could you hit him?" She said exasperated.

"Well, I pull my fist back and then quickly moved it forward to give it more momentum," I replied sarcastically.

"Why is he dating such a b*tch?"

"Why are you asking so many questions?"

Tash looked like she also wanted to hit me. I waggled my fingers at her then entered the house again. I couldn't see Kane or AJ so I decided to hang out with the food. The kitchen was huge and could probably fit my whole house inside. But the best part of it was the trays and trays of food. There was a cooler in the corner which I automatically searched for any dairy products that came with the name ice and cream. A tub in one hand and a plate of cookies, I sat in the corner devouring my body weight in sugar.

People wandered in, not noticing the girl in the gold dress feasting in the corner. Suddenly a girl came in grinning.

"It's time for the countdown for New Year!" As quickly as she came, she disappeared off. Everyone in the room started to make their way out as I debated on whether I should leave my sanctuary.

Eventually, I got up, not without my ice cream, and went out to the front of the house where everyone was standing, excited for the change of the year.

The sky was pitch black with stars twinkling. I saw AJ in the distance talking happily with a guy with dreadlocks. At least he had something to look forward to. I, however, swayed to the Christmas music being played. Then it was time to count.

"Five!" People yelled.

"Four!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

Cheers hid the sound of the music and everyone around me was kissing or hugging. All I had was my ice cream so I hugged it.

"May you have a good year in my digestive system," I whispered to it.

Once I said that, the wails of sirens was heard. The atmosphere became panicked in seconds. I looked around wondering who had caused this to happen.

"Is Kane Charmer here?" A police officer said.

Kane came forward looking confused. "Have I done anything?"

"No, son. You called us about someone stealing your car and we've found it."

"Thank you, sir. Do you know who did it?"

The blood drained from my face. And everywhere else. I was becoming a raisin so I hid my face.

"It was a woman called... Rhea Montero."
