41. Fading fast and away
Rhea's POV
I was dumped, chained and locked up in a tiny cell which made the last one I was in look like a five star hotel. My hands were tied together behind me to a wall and I still had rope around my mouth.
It had been hours or days. Time stretched on and I had no indication of what time jt was as there was no window. The doorknob jiggled as someone opened the door. Maybe someone was here to get me out... Or not. A extremely tall woman came in flanked by five or so men. The evil grin she gave me told me she wasn't here to help.
"Hello Rhea Montero," she said lightly as if this was usual for her to be talking to a gagged person.
I raised an eyebrow. Did she expect me to reply? She was model thin and flawless with red hair that seemed to shine even without any light in the room.
"I've heard a few things about you and I'd love if you could...confirm them. All you have to do is nod or shake your head. Simple."
I shook my head. Psychopathic b*tch alert.
Her stare turned hard. "Well, let me show you what happens when you don't comply."
An explosion of pain hit my body. I couldn't even scream. She had brought out a blade and was slowly running into through my thigh, hitting bone. F*cking-
"Question one," she said when she had caused enough pain. "Do you mean anything to Hadrian DiRomero?"
I shook my head violently.
Her knife cut into my other leg. I tried to move in vain away from her but it was no use. "Now, I'm going to ask you again. Do you mean anything to Hadrian DiRomero?"
I nodded slowly.
Grinning, she removed the rope around my mouth. I took this opportunity to express my views.
"You f*cking psychotic b*tch! I hope you f*cking rot-"
A powerful slap to my face shut me up. "I didn't ask for your opinion. His eye colour?"
"Grey."
"Question three. Where is he?"
"I don't know," I gritted out.
"Fair enough. Question four. Who are you to him?"
I paused. "...A friend."
She grabbed my neck. "That's not what these marks say."
"Then they're lying."
Sighing, she gave a signal to one of her guards. He came forward and grabbed onto my leg then punched my knee cap, breaking the bone. This time I screamed. I couldn't move my leg. Tears streamed from my eyes as I glared at the woman.
"Don't look so sad," she taunted. "We're not done but I'll give you a break until you're more...willing."
She strode out of the room as if on a catwalk with her minions following her. The door shut leaving me in the dark and a heavy amount of blood loss.

I kept passing out from the pain burning in my muscles. However, I was conscious when the door unlocked.
"Rhea?"
I raised my head to see Ryan. He placed a tray of food on the ground and hurried towards me with a blue bottle.
"Why are you here?" I croaked, throat dry.
"Just drink this. It'll help with the pain," he replied. The liquid immediately started working, numbing my body. Ryan pulled a small metal square and threw it into the corner of the room.
"Where's Hadrian?" I whispered.
Ryan shook his head. "You'll see. I've got to go."
He picked up the tray and left as quickly as he came.

The woman returned but without her guards. She began pacing, aware that she had all the time in the world as she was in control.
"What question are we on?...Five, I think," she grinned. "Have you ever seen lover boy bring anyone back to life?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Completely."
She frowned. "Interesting. You better hope he can because you're going to be the consequence."
"What do you mean?"
"Once upon a time, my soulmate was killed in battle," a dramatic tear left her eye. "But he shouldn't have died!"
That explained nothing. "So?"
"Your boyfriend is the angel of death so he should be able to reverse it."
I rattled my chains. "So why the f*ck am I here?"
"He said no. We had to take drastic measures which included kidnapping you."
I became annoyed. This whole situation was because she couldn't accept her boyfriend was dead. And she really thought Hadrian would agree to her demands. "Couldn't you have just said please?"
"Don't be a smartass. It doesn't suit you. You're here as I'm going to give Hadrian a choice. Save you or lose you."
"He might chose to lose me," I pointed out.
She laughed. "Seriously? There is no way he's going to choose that and if he does, we both lose."
"Lose what? Blackmailing Hadrian isn't in your best interest."
"That's what you think. My plan is already working. He's in this building as we speak. The only issue is bringing him here..." Her eyes narrowed on me. I looked away, feeling like prey.
She grabbed my chin roughly, raised my hair from my neck and gasped. "You have the mark of death. That makes my job much easier."
A punch landed on my jaw followed by a slap. I couldn't even move away from her when she began kicking me in the stomach and ribs. I cried out in pain, praying for her torture to end.
"Stop!" I screamed at her.
"Not until your eyes are grey," she spat. Her blade reflected the little light and she cut more lines into my legs.
I was starting to see black. I wanted this to stop. Then I got the feeling someone else was in my head. The woman smirked gleefully.
"Hello Mr.DiRomero."
I wasn't possessed so he couldn't reply. But I could feel that he was p*ssed.
"You have five minutes to get here or I'm killing your girlfriend," she said waving the knife covered in blood in front of me. "See you soon."

So the woman is mad.
Hadrian is p*ssed.
Rhea's being cut open.
