"Mom why is everyone running? Please mom speak." Her eyes flickered and i began screaming. My mom was layed on the floor with people rushing passed as if she wasn't even there - i assumed she got knocked unconsious when chaos broke out. The smoke blinded my eyes and i couldn't breathe properly - was i going to die too ... im only 14 years old!!

**4 years on**
Hey there im Lily Brooks and 4 years ago an explosion in New York took out most of the population including my mom. She was the only person i had left in the world apart from my older brother (Jake) as my father left us when i was barely 1. Since the accident i dont really talk about my mom much until now-my brother and i went away to a village far from New York and have lived their with our aunt Runa. She heard what happened and asked personally for us to be taken to live with her-it may not have been ideal but its better than getting put up for adoption. Jake and i had always questioned aunt Runa how the so called 'explosion' happened and it was only a few months ago she told us.

"An explosion is an understatement," Runa said "It was no accident at all-this was all on purpose. A rumour was being spread around New York saying a group of unknown doctors where poisoning people - this poison caused the body to shut down but become very contageous and possibly kill everyone. The armies plan was to fake an explosion just to save their own skin! If they killed most of the infected people they're practically saving lives - right? Well they are terribly wrong - it just started wreaking more! It was outrageous... i didnt want to tell you. I didn't want the last thought and memory you had of your mother to be of her slowly dying and she not being able to tell you how much pain she was in!" Aunt Runa began to cry. I was told by Jake to stay strong , not to worry - its suprising what a rumour could do to New York in a case of a few months.

Rumours can break people, no one knows how much a rumour hurts until they have actually experienced it themselves. A boy my age was bullied by a group of lads ,3 years older than him because he'd never had a girlfriend before. That soon all changed - as soon as i started their high school around 3 years ago... i was known as the girl everyone adored and most boys wanted to be with. I wasn't planning on dating anyone until i saw him....  well i was 15 so yeah but he was that type of guy that looked cute but nerdy->

Jacob Reed- yes this was the boy everyone hated and bullied but i just don't know why have you seen him😂 The same thing that had happened to my mom had happened to Jacob little twin siblings. He was devestated and started to shut himself down, never talk to anyone. As soon as i came along i knew what he was going through - i helped him get through the pain. He was the onlyy one i actually talked about my mom to-he was there for me when i needed him.

**Tuesday night**
Today was the death day my mom died. I hated when this time came around... i was layed in bed as it was 5:00am in the morning when i hear tapping on my window. At first i just ignore but then its constants so i stand and walk to pull back the curtain. It was Jacob and his blotchy face tells me that hes been crying - this day will kill him as much as it did me. I open up the window , which i hate doing as it lets all the warm air out my room and pull Jacob in. He just bursts into tears and i hug him around his waist and he then pulls me closer. I felt safe in his arms, he pulls away as he needed to wipe his face.
"Sorry babe," he sobbs " i dont mean to bother y-"
I cut him off and pull him into a long comforting kiss he obviously needed it as much as i did.

Hey guys this is my new book... i may delete my other one 'bridge to nowhere' as i think this one will take me further. This chapter is just an intro ... getting to know Lily and what happened at the very start of her life. Plz read my next chpater when i update it  💗💗
