Chapter: 26
"Hey, Hannah!"
I hear someone calling my name. Stopping in the reception area of the hotel where I am currently staying, I look around to search who has called me.
"Hannah Prescott." A familiar-looking guy approaches me and a smile forms on my face as soon as I recognize him.
"Aaron Marshall?" I lightly chuckle in disbelief because this is the first time I am meeting him after high school.
"Damn, right!" He smiles and wraps his arm around my shoulder in a half-hug.
"God, it has been so long." I return his hug feeling a little bit nostalgic, "How are you?"
"I am good, and living in the best phase of my life." He smiles.
"I am so happy to hear this." I give him a small hug again, feeling genuinely happy to know that he is doing good.
Aaron is one of those kids who had everything while growing up, however, one important thing, which every child needed the most, was something from his life... his parent's support and love. They used to think of him as an investment rather than their child and used to dictate his life so that they could profit from him in the future.
Both are his parents are politicians, and always wanted him to follow in their footsteps which he clearly never wanted. He wanted to be a musician which was something disapproving in their eyes. So even though they weren't absent parents but in a true sense, they were never there for him.
"I take that you are pursuing your music?" I smile somewhere already knowing the answer as his eyes visibly brighten hearing my question.
"Yeah, actually, I run my own music studio to help others who are interested in music and doesn't have any mean to pursue their dreams. In fact, I have come here to see a local band's performance and I am glad I did otherwise I wouldn't have met you here." The excitement in his voice when he talks about his works truly shows his dedication and sincerity behind his work, "Now even mom and dad don't oppose me, as this sheds a positive light on their image because their son is supporting the undiscovered talent and all." He rolls his eyes but nevertheless, he seems happy.
"So what about you, Hannah Prescott? How's life going?" Crossing his hands behind his back, he wiggles his eyebrows jokingly.
"It is now Hannah Williams and, touchwood, life is going great." I can feel my smile deepens as Adam's face comes to my mind.
Man, I am crazy about my husband and I don't feel ashamed to admit that I am obsessed with him.
"Woah! Congratulations!" His eyebrows shoot up in surprise as he let out a surprised chuckle, "You are married? Honestly, it is really surprising because I never thought of you getting married so soon. I always thought of you as a girl who is career-driven and not interested in family life like getting married and all. You know, what I mean..." He shrugs. He motions with his hand to move to the side because we are practically standing in the middle of the reception.
"I understand." I nod my head, "But being married doesn't mean saying goodbye to your career or passion. If you are married to the right person then your dreams and aspiration turn into theirs as well, just like their success becomes yours. And I am one hell of a lucky girl, who has married such a man who always supports me and pushes me to achieve my dreams."
"Adam is my wings whereas his love and encouragement is the wind which helps me to soar fearlessly." Staring at the floor, I smile as my heart fills with the love which I have for my man. "He is just the best." I shrug while lifting my eyes back to Aaron who is smiling at me.
"I need to meet this man of yours, to take my lessons for keeping my future girl this happy. So that even her face has this kind of glow when she talks about me." He laughs making me laugh as well.
"So, what brings you here?" He asks making me realize I haven't called Adam until now and he must be waiting for my call.
"There is a fifteen days fashion designing workshop going on, I am here for that," I inform him while shooting a quick text to Adam.
I have been away from home for ten days, as I am attending this workshop which I really wanted to attend because they focus on teaching old and traditional designing techniques.
However, these fifteen days away from him are proving to be more difficult than I have imagined because it feels like I have left a major part of myself with him. Adam couldn't come with me, as he is busy with his own work and I am missing him like anything. I just want this workshop to end so that I can get back to my honey.
"Come on, let's join me for dinner then we can talk about our lives more." He smiles. I don't have anything much to do so after thinking for a moment I agreed because it will be nice to catch up with an old friend after so long.
"Okay." I nod and dial Adam's number to let him know I am going for dinner with a friend.
But he doesn't answer his phone so after hanging up the call I send him another text letting him know that I will call him late at night.
Sometime during the dinner my phone rings and instantly dropping my conversation with Aaron I answer the call as it's Adam's.
"Hey, where were you?" I say as soon as I answer the call, "You haven't answered my texts, I was being worried."
"Hannah." The way he says my name I can feel it in my heart that something is not right.
"What's wrong, Adam?" Standing up, I move towards the isolated part for some privacy, "Are you okay?"
"Please, come back home." My heart clenches when I hear his voice cracking at the end.
I hear him clearing his throat and now when he speaks his voice is stronger, "Hannah, I know this workshop is important to you, but-"
"Adam I am heading home right now because you are important to me more than anything." I quickly walk back towards the table to let Aaron know I will be going home. "I love you, Adam. Everything will be alright."
"You don't know even know what has happened, so how can you say everything will be alright?" He let out a bitter laugh, while his voice chokes a little which brings tears to my eyes.
"I know, Adam, because I believe as long as we both are with each other then everything will always be alright."
Everything has to be alright.

Home.
A place that witnesses your success and failure, your tears and joy... It is your safe place in this cruel world. But what to do when that place no longer exists?
I was so eager to come back home but never I have thought that instead of my home... ashes will welcome me.
"Adam," I whisper feeling his grip tightened on my hand while my eyes remain fixed at the place which was my heaven... however, which now has turned into nothing but dust.
My eyes brim with tears and turning around I lock my eyes with Adam who is trying so hard to look strong but moisture in his eyes are giving away his pain.
"There was a short circuit which started the fire, and now everything is gone." Biting his lower lip, he shrugs. His eyes roam around the ruins which are in front of us, "Our home is gone."
Turning around I stare at our home, or what used to be our home. A suffocating feeling grips my chest and my throat constrict with a silent sob. I want to scream and cry at the cruelty of fate because everything in our life was good. We were happy then why did this happen? Why our heaven was destroyed like this?
"Today I went to the office early in the morning but not even two hours had been passed when I got a call from our neighbors about seeing flames coming out from the window after they called nine-one-one. However, when I reached here everything was already on fire and the firefighters were trying to put out the fire and trying to save what was left." He sighs running his fingers through his hair while pulling them in frustration.
"What are we going to do now, Hannah?" He looks at me and for the first time, I witness vulnerability in his eyes. He just looks like a small child who is lost and scared.
Slipping my hand in his, I try to show him that I am there with him and he will not have to face this alone, "I don't know what we will do from here but what I know is that you are with me and it is more than enough for me."
