Sabine's P.O.V

I was so stressed with all the drama in my life. First, Jarrus bullies me with no reason since first grade. Second, I find out that our parents are dating and we may become siblings. Lastly, he says I'm the blind one?!

I am sick of it!

The phone's ringtone played Ketsu's favorite song, Delicate by Taylor Swift. I found it odd that she liked that song but who am I to judge? My favorite song is No Excuses by Meghan Trainor.

I picked up my phone and scrolled through the vigorous amount of notifications that I have.

I wonder what's going on, I thought. I finally looked at the message Ketsu sent before sending my own in return.

She didn't text me back and I'll have to wait a whole day before returning to Instagram and WhatsApp. Yet, I was really worried and curious on what's going around on social media. It was mainly kids from our school. I recognize a lot of the names people use.

It was also a whole day until finding out what Ketsu wants to tell me. Hopefully, no one will tell me at school before meeting with her. Whatever the news was seemed to be about her. My friend is in trouble and I don't have a clue to what the problem is.

I sighed and rested my head on top of the desk's surface. Closing my eyes, I just stayed there for a moment to soak in the peace and quiet.

   No drama.

   No problems.

No ruining lives because of selfish desires.

It was just me in my room with sun shining through the window. To relieve more of my stress, I could draw or spray paint something on the easel. That's what helps calm my nerves and release it through art. It's helped me when I was little when I was alone.

   When I had nobody.

No shoulder to cry on. No musical laugh at a joke that I made. No one to shoot hoops with. It was just me and art supplies. My canvas was the world and I somehow always leave some sort of mark wherever I go.

A Phoenix rising from the flames.

Rebellion. A sign of freedom from reality and cruel world. It gave me hope that there was still a tomorrow to make a new mark. My passion. A silent voice calling for help.

It was finally answered...when a new girl showed up in fourth grade. Ketsu.

She saved me. Now it's my turn to save her. My phone buzzed again, I quickly picked it up to see if it was Ketsu but to my disappointment, it wasn't. That doesn't mean it isn't good to see a text message from good, old Wedge.

I was about to open the message...

BANG!

Glass shattered and rained to the floor. I screamed and jumped out of my seat, falling to the floor. I scrambled to the wall behind the side of my desk. I breathed heavily and eyes wide with fear when everything went silent. I clutched my legs to my chest and trembled on the floor.

Someone shot a bullet through my closed window in broad daylight!

I stayed in my spot, to afraid to peek around the corner of the desk. I could hear the sound of people running to my room.

"Don't come in!" I shouted, seeing the door knob turning. I don't need them walking in and getting shot.

"Bean, what happened? Are you alright?" Mom asked, concerned.

"Yeah, just don't come in yet," I replied, swallowing down my fear and carefully looking at the window. Glass was shattered on the floor as a breeze came through the hole and blowing some papers around. There was no one outside that I could see from where I was at.

I have to get out of here.

Carefully, I began to army crawl to the door and make sure to stay out of sight. Luckily it wasn't to far from where I was at and gently knocked on the door.

"Open the door up a little," I whispered but loud enough so they could hear me. The door creaked open to reveal my mother's terrified and concerned face. Ezra was behind her just as stunned and shocked.

I squeezed through the gap with the help from my mom until I was finally in the hallway. Mom shut the door and told Ezra to call the police. He grabbed his phone and dialed 911 and began to talk.

Mom crushed me in a bear hug for dear life and held onto her just as tight. She spoke soothing words and ran her fingers through her hair. Tears of fear slowly spilled from my eyes and down my face.

Then there was another gunshot and a loud bang hitting the other side of the wall in my room. We all jumped back and Ezra dropped his phone. I felt my heart racing and sweat form on my forehead.

   They're still here!

Mom guided Ezra and I into the kitchen. We all grabbed a weapon and closed curtains, making sure to stay out of sight.

The room became dark and the only sound was me heavily breathing. I was huddled in a corner with Ezra and a knife gripped in my hand. Mom was looking to see if she could see the person shooting the house.

Sirens blared in the distance coming closer and getting louder.

"Ezra, Sabine, you two can come out," mom said. We both stood up still holding onto our weapons for dear life. We walked over to the front door as someone yells, "OPEN UP! THIS IS THE POLICE!"

Carefully, mom opens the door to reveal two police officers holding guns. They soon realized that we weren't the danger and hulled their guns.

"Where is the shooter?" One of them asks.

"We don't know. They just shot up my home twice before you arrived. I couldn't find them anywhere through the windows," mom explained. The police scouted the area a couple of times and asked questions. They investigated my room before taking the bullets that stuck in my wall and left.

At one point, I saw motorcycle guy across the street and watching us carefully before leaving. Was he stalking me or something? Is it a coincidence or something more? My suspicions grew on that guy but he also did save me. Or was that a cover up? Ugh.

Kanan came back after hearing the news. He wanted to stay and make sure Hera and I were safe but my mom insisted that we'd be okay. Reluctantly, Kanan and Ezra left back to their home.

Mom and I slept in her room together, neither of us getting a wink of sleep.
