Chapter 3💚
My friends were the most unreasonable people ever. I was also unreasonable too. Reasonable is boring.
We had been together since primary school days. Aisha, Olivia and Debra the most annoying persons on Earth.
People disliked us, I'm pretty much sure they hated us, especially back then in high school. We were the mean girls type.
Aisha Nuru was the Fulani rich bratty brat type. She had this amazing smooth light skin and a very long hair.
She looked more like an half caste with her pink lips and all. She was chubby but very cute with her wonderful hips
Her dad was once a minister and with all the money he had, he spoilt his daughter bad and it got too much in her head that she was so fond of looking down on people for either being broke, wearing cheap things and just basically being poor. Her favorite line was "you this low life thing"
Debra- Deborah Odjirigho. Deltan blood.
This one was a mad person. Believe me when I say mad.
Dark skinned, had this cute short hair, was more boyly than girly. She hated nonsense and loves to go straight to the point. She had anger issues and was quick to start up a fight not minding who the person is. She had fought with almost everybody we knew.
Her parents were both well to do lawyers and her mom especially had disowned her many times. I wouldn't blame her, Debra was far from normal and unlike Aisha, Debra wasn't spoiled not because her parents couldn't afford it, I mean we were all from rich families but because Debra was just too naughty that they decided to bring her up the hard way. But it didn't even work, she was still mad.
Olivia Effiong. She was the bossy type, quick to order people around. She was the type that wears eye glasses making her look intelligent. In Nigeria, wearing glasses stereotypically means you know book.
She liked to look corporate and talk corporate.
She always liked to be the leader, she felt she was always right. She's the type that doesn't care about other people's opinion. Whatever she said was always right, even when it's not.
She was good with words and would convince you into believing 2+2 is 9 and not 4.
Just like Aisha, her parents had brought her up in the prim and proper way.
And there's me, I was what every compared to Tacha...Symply Tacha.
I pushed people away from me. I didn't want people to know who I truly was, I didn't need anybody to see my pains and that made me give everybody cold attitudes.
While Debra fought physically with everybody, I quarrelled with everybody because people tried to take me for granted but I just wouldn't let them.
People called me a witch, mami water and the likes because I felt I was better off... Oh well.
Nobody liked to mingle with us because according to them, we had "bad characters".
And that was what made us stronger because we couldn't be brought down.
Back then in school, students avoided us as much as possible, it got to an extent that people started avoiding Jude because nobody wanted to mess with the property of one of the bad girls.
There was this girl back then in SS2 ,Habeebat, her elder brother was our classmate Akeem.
She was very pretty and when everybody got to notice the fresh new girl, boys started falling. Even our class boys, they didn't mind the fact she was a junior. She wasn't even interested in the trooping guys. All she had eyes for was Jude.. My Jude!
Who wouldn't? Jude was the head boy, fastest runner, school cutest boy. He had won Mister Sunset high school several times.
Many girls considered me as the luckiest girl they had ever known.
Every girl wanted Jude and he was mine. He had this cute smile he'd always give to girls that would make them squeal like idiots.
Jude did his best ignoring the girls that disturbed his life. He'd always tell them "look sweet, I have a girlfriend already"... Until he changed.
My friends and I in all our high school glory made sure to make any girl who tried coming close to Jude feel threatened . We'll make their life miserable.
Habeebat wasn't left out. Who does she think she is?
We made her understand that she was making a mistake by coming close to Jude.
Debra had even gone as far as almost beating her beside the senior toilet.
The junior reported us to her brother our classmate and Akeem knowing the type of girls we were had to beg us to leave his sister alone.
Even the head girl wasn't left out.
We made her understand that she being the head girl gave her no reason to talk to Jude the head boy and truthfully, she was the churchy type that doesn't wear earrings or trousers and the likes, she even had no eyes for boys.
"if you don't want trouble, just don't do as much as touching Jude's body. Y'all know I'm not a normal person and I'm looking forward to beating somebody very soon. You hear?" Debra threatened.
"you shouldn't even look at his eyes while talking. Things tend to happen. Don't ever look at his eyes " Olivia ordered.
The head girl Busayo was totally confused, she had never tried to make moves to Jude.
" okay um, I know you girls are the type one should avoid. So Yeah, when talking to your 'Jude' I wouldn't maintain eye contact. " she said in disgust.
" Yeah, you should probably look down at your cheap shoes " Queen Aisha said as we walked away.
I didn't even need to do the talking. My friends were always there for me.
*********
I had to go to the studio for a shoot. I wanted one of my brothers to take me there.
Williams the responsible reasonable eldest 25 would probably not take me, he'll be busy on his laptop.
Dotun my mad rugged irresponsible brother (21) would probably give me a silly excuse and wouldn't take me there.
Ben, my twin, the male version of Olivia. He wasn't even around.
And finally Tife, my 13 year old brother.. Wait, is it Tife that wants to drive me to the studio? I'll na die? I haven't even gotten married!!!
I walked to the kitchen dragging my bag behind me.
Dotun was there, eating something from a big bowl.
"Hey bro " I said trying to ignore the irritating sounds he made as he licked his spoon.
He ignored me.
" Dotun na"
"I've told you to always call me brother Dotun and besides, do you care for a lick " he asked as he smirked, stretching out his saliva filled spoon.
" ewww no, hey, can you drive me to the studio? "
He frowned, "I'm busy abeg, I have garri here to drink". He licked his spoon and offered it to me again.
I felt like grabbing my mom's fry pan and hitting him hard on the head.
"please na, I would have asked the driver but I don't think he's around"
"ehya" was all he said
Just while I was thinking of different ways to murder a relative my eldest brother:Williams came in and he offered to drive me to the studio.
The ride to the studio was a quiet one, my brother here wasn't the type to talk, he was only interested in business, money talk, office work and all.
I bade my him goodbye as I got out of the car, reluctantly walking into the building.
Dragging my bag on the ground out of habit, I heard somebody call my name. I ignored and kept on walking
"Hey Benny"
I'll just act like a fly entered my ear and laid so many eggs . I didn't hear you, sorry.
I didn't like talking to anybody here and it made them despise me... Who cares ?
I could hear the person running close to me and I still acted like I didn't hear.
The person softly pulled my shoulder and when I turned around ready to drop all the world's insult I could think, I saw it was Fisayo another model.
What does this clumsy masquerade want from me?
"Hey Benny, how are you? I called your number like 5 times today and I even sent messages but there were no replies. What's wrong?"
