Chapter eight
Biki bidiri
          August 2017
          Kaduna, Nigeria

🎶Everytime wire me money, hello baby have you sent it , you don't even know what you do to me, tofocolu shama, burayimu oo.......

The hall engulfed in some silence as the DJ increased the volume of the song One ticket. Everyone present in the hall had their eyes towards the entrance, for, it has been announced that the bride is gracing them with her appearance along with her groom.

The bride's cousin sisters around the teenage age came into appearance dancing beautifully with their well embroidered aseobi materialised gown, with one of the bride's sisters Fatima at the front with different gown which has grabbed her edges and curves...as they danced to the tune of the song till they reached the place where their chairs and tables have been specifically and specially arranged for them.

... Amira was spotted in one of the cousins dancing something close to horrible, she can't be questioned though, she did try her best to learn the Nigerian dance style in just one night and somehow fitted in the choreography with no one noticing... But the camera drone and her beloved brother Adnan, who was seated amongst his cousins and Amir watching.

🎶See baby if you want to leave obi koli, no do shakara, no dey carry your shoulder oo, as you see me so baby, na because of you I don't kolo, see I don't go one ticket obodoyiba...

The friends and the adult cousins of the bride and the groom with different dancing steps also passed with their asoebi embroidered in different styles for the women and different color of shadda well tailored into kaftan, some with Babban Riga...

The Dj changed the song to Like by Davido

Me I get girl I go die for, I get girl I go sing for, fifty girls on default , baby na you be the one I go kill for , baby girl you be jailer, hancuff me nogo leave me oo, baby one in ah million, baby chop all my millions ...

...and last and the least, the stunning looking bride in her well embroidered burgundy wedding gown appeared with her handsome looking groom in his well tailored light brown kaftan with babban Riga and a well paired Quba placed on his head..walked majestically, face glooming for the groom and head kept down under a veil placed on the bride which has covered her face, as they reached to their well decorated seats.

The people present in the hall were giving the chance to snap and take pictures and videos of the bride, but some of course didn't find it satisfying. They had to leave their seats to follow the bride and groom to where they are seated to Snap them.

The well known photographer maigaskiya didn't forget to take the entrance of the bride with his camera drone and pictures with his Canon camera.

After some minutes, the music died down and the oga MC picked up the microphone and started talking. He made sure he sent away the people crowded at the bride's side with some indirect insults as he went on blabbing.

"hannah, where is mom?" Amira asked her sister

"she's with Hadiza" hannah paused as she pointed at the place where the mother is "where Amir is"

"Okayy , come with me please"

Amira's mother along with Hannah and Abdallah came to Katsina yesterday. They would have attended the kunshi day had it been they have arrived earlier than they did, that if the hold up they met hadn't occurred on their way.

The Ibrahim Alkalis have been told that the Aliyu Alkalis wanted to attend the wedding events also but due to an upcoming important event, they had to stay in Abuja to attend it.

Amira stood up from her seat to Fatima as she whispered something to her which she nodded.

Amira gathered her gown, for, it was disturbing her. It had tail and a side peplum on her gown and her heels which made it difficult for her to walk, the heavy veil neatly and beautifully rolled on her head. It is not her first time wearing a gown like this she had worn a gown much more heavier than the one she wore on this event..but this was a different material she's not used to, and the head gear adding weight to her.

She slowly and gently passed from one person or table to another, as eyes shot towards her way. She shrugged it off not that it didn't matter her. she hates it when she gets looked at. It helped that Hannah was right behind her.

They were so close to her siblings table which was at the left if you're backing the entrance door and the right if you're facing the entrance door.

Not only the eyes of people both female and male were irritating Amira but the MC himself, she doesn't how a person keeps making dry jokes without stopping and people laughing somehow forcefully at his jokes.

From where they are, she could see her mother standing- talking to Fahad, and Adnan laughing at what Hadiza had said to him. Amir has his eyes glued to his phone as Mukhtar and his two cousins listened to what Amir is saying to them or rather, reading out from his phone.

Amira closed her eyes a little and sighed as a woman blocked her way talking to her in a native language. Amira frowned her face not understanding anything the woman is saying. The woman hissed and passed her, and she could hear Hannah's chuckle behind her.

She took her eyes off the woman and set it on a table close to her siblings which landed on someone's eyes she knows not of. She abruptly took her eyes off him and turned to the other guys around him.

Amira couldn't deny one thing; Nigerian boys are fine and most especially the ones she had came to encounter.

She didn't know how to react to the situation she is now, she wasn't familiar with it. More of the guys had their eyes set on her...she felt uncomfortable, and started moving holding Hannah's hand tightly

They were a table away from her siblings as she turned sideways towards the direction of the boys... and guess what, they were looking at her.

They are all fair in complexion but him, he's fair but not as they are- He is slightly dark. His hair looks coily though with the Quba placed on the head.. She still noticed..

She didn't see his height because he's seated. He is not fat nor thin, and he doesn't look that old, maybe somewhere around Adnan's age or more.. Maybe 17.

One thing for sure is that the guy she had set her eyes on and analyzed is a handsome young man, the second most handsome among his seated mates, and that navy blue thing he wore did a really good thing on him..

Amira didn't realise that she was lost in her thoughts until Hannah talked to her "earth to Amira" she said as she stood next to her, "what were you thinking of? I've been talking you to move on , but you just stood put"

She looked at the guy one last time as she turned to face her sister. "Sorry, was just carried away" together with her they moved to meet their mother.

"mom, how do I look!?" Amira grinned widely as she waits to hear her mother talk.

Amir looked up at her and smiled "stunning like always, dearie" Amira thanked him and smiled

"Agreed" mukhtar smiled at her and she thanked him also

"more uglier than I look though"  hadiza said laughing. Hadiza didn't have any makeup on her like Amira, but she really looked beautiful in her maroon gown. She didn't want to apply, for,  she has gotten seriously sick of her stomach pain yesterday which stopped her from attending the kunshi ...not that she has gotten any better today. But for what is worth, she decided to show up today at least.

"Hadiza, cut the crap and stop remonstrating, you know you look presentable and you know this is the seventh time I'm saying that" that came from fahad

"I am not remonstrat...whatever" she rolled her eyes at him

"Mother, you didn't utter a thing " Amira pouted

"I don't have to say anything darling ,you look lovely, more than any girl here" her mother gave her an assuring smile and left with hadiza

"Exactly Amira" adnan said which made her look at him surprisingly. She opened her mouth to talk  when his words stopped her "but don't let it get into your head princess, it's already too big for your shoulders to carry" he laughed

"I don't see what's funny here" hannah popped in and Amira thanked her.

"Whatever" adnan rolled his eyes " I'm just trying my best not to say anything mean to you guys"

"Check this out Amira, I've captured your horrible dance in my phone, you mess with me today, you see it online" adnan said with a smirk plastered on his face

"If you post that video, oh so help me god adnan you're gonna look for your arse and not find it before we leave this place!" Amira said annoyed which made them all laughed

"1-0" mukhtar said and adnan rolled his eyes

Adnan held his hand together. "It's simple. You just repeat what I say, and we cool" he said

Amira shrugged "okay, go on I hate to waste precious time now"

Adnan smiled "fantastic. It's easy you know, just follow me. I am sorry ya Adnan for all the mean things I've said to you and I promise to do whatever you say from now on" he added "you see it's not that hard"

Amira raised a brow at him as she said "in your wet dreams, motherfucker" and dragged hannah out of their sight leaving adnan with a mouth hanged open

"Discharged!!" Amir bursted out of laughter as mukhtar joined him "10 - 0"

....

They were so carried away in their silly chatter as the event was going on, they didn't pay any attention at how the bride face was sold for a tripple million naira. And now the MC announced that it was time for the bride to dance with her groom.

The groom gently grabbed his bride's hand as they descended down the stairs to the dance floor. The song Perfect was played and the girls around screamed.

Oh how much everyone likes this song

Everyone there had their phones high up trying to take pictures and videos of the bride and groom dancing.

"Oo , our dear groom is holy" one of the girls on Fatima's table uttered, as she noticed how the groom only held her hands and nothing more.

"I like it this way, it's better you know since ba,a daura aure bah" another girl said

"Oh don't worry, you'll see what you want at dinner InshaAllah" Fatima spoke referring to the first girl and they all chuckled at what she said , Amira and Hannah only watched them, puzzled.

....

Hadiza sat with hafsa as they talk on minor things adult should talk about. She felt her stomach rise and fall, feeling so much uneasy.

"Hadiza don't let it win, dole fah muyi rawa yau" hafsa joked as she noticed Hadiza

Hadiza chuckled and nodded at her. She took her eyes to the bride and groom slowly dancing to the tune of the song. She loves this. It's so beautiful.

...

Amir scoffed at what was happening now, like why will they be playing this song- the song he hated with all his heart, he hissed and brought out his phone from his pocket

"Amir, can't you at least drop your phone for some minutes" that came from fahad as he sat back on his seat

"Watch and learn how it is done before your own wedding comes" mukhtar teased as Amir hit his head with his cap

"Crap crap!! I'm tired of this place mate, god knows I can't, I can't mahn" adnan said irritatedly as he gulped down his coke.

Fahad smiled "the interesting part hasn't begun yet, exercise some patience ,will you?" He stood up and left them..

Adnan looked at Amir and saw him looking at a group of girls "which of them is she?" He asked, both Amir and mukhtar turned to face him

Amir furrowed his brows as he opened his mouth to argue "not only do you know that you were looking at her , you know I know that you know you were looking at her.. so save us that argument for later" adnan smiled morally

Mukhtar smiled "ya adnan! Don't tell me you caught our guy here gaping at a lil princess over there"

"That's exactly what happened bruh"

Amir let a mirthful laugh "that's ridiculous, you know that right?" He paused as he continued "okay okay! Before you start thinking negatively coz I know that's what you guys do, I was NOT STARING at her ..I may have looked at her once or twice ONLY BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN LOOKING AT ME OR RATHER STARING AT ME FROM THE VERY FIRST SECOND I SAT DOWN HERE, for yours information" he sighed as he finished

"Are you sure about that young man?" Adnan asked slightly observing Amir

...and then they all burst out of laughter freely and heartily..

"Low key lowkey.. your girls are unreal beauty" adnan said as he chuckled

"Epitome in précis" Amir agreed with him chuckling.

Mukhtar smirked "yesso..our girls"

"But!" Adnan started with a smirk "I don't think I can get myself one, not used to your likes" he finished laughing softly

Amir scoffed "Adnan, I don't know how these girls do their thing but I'm sure they ain't as easy as the ones you used to, no." Stating as a matter of fact

Adnan looked up and replied him "I won't be too sure about that though, yea."

Mukhtar at the other side watched them silently as they keep on with their arguments. Indeed, these guys here have no idea how Nigerian girls are..

Mukhtar clapped his hands as he said "well, there's only one way to find out , right?." Amir and adnan exchanged a meaningful look only they- can understand. Power of blood.

Their stare broke when the DJ turned down his song and asked the groom to go back to his seat. It was time for the bride to dance with her family and friends "Dj on the beat" the MC loudly announced as the song WO by Olamide started playing. Shouts from the female side was heard as the ladies moved to dance floor oya wo! The hall erupted with voices singing and dancing to the song

"Woah, this song lit mate" adnan said as he shaked his head to the beats and they all chuckled.

"You don't know" mukhtar added "nija songs you dey hear for you ears" as they stood up to the dance floor where they spotted fahad and the rest of their cousins

...and now the fiesta has begun!

....

Lit songs were on shuffle.. all over, fall, yawa, sample you, come closer  among others

Fatima and some of her cousins and relatives both male and female formed a big circle as they danced around the bride. The bride was only moving sideways with her body small.. not wanting to dance just like she had told them. People around her urged her to dance and she refused even with their persuasion.. they gave up only because she agreed to dance at the dinner for there will be less elderly people there... she was just too shy. and that made some tease her..

🎶Kece gimbiya, sarauniyar mata

The bride was dragged out of the circle by some elderly women to dance with her as the well known Boda started singing ... the circle though wasn't broken rather they continued dancing, one goes in and dance his or her moves and comes back to the circle as other goes in continuously... their moves went from girgiza to even shoki among others, dance steps...

"Amira, you won't dance?" One of the women came up to her as she recognized her as mukhtar's aunt asked.

"I'm afraid I can't dance, at least not this type" Amira replied her smiling

"I'm going to make you dance later InshaAllah" the woman said jokingly and Amira smiled back at her as she left.

The Dj called off the music as the Mc instructed. It was time for pictures to be taken.. one by one, family by family, the MC called upon both sides of the bride and groom... and just liked that... several of pictures were captured..

Now it was time for the grooms family to dance with their groom. Their dance was also interesting and crazy just as much as for the bride's family. After that it was time for the bride to dance with her mother.

If they could remember clearly, Zainab made mention that she didn't want that. She didn't want to dance with her mother at all.. she gave the reason that she didn't want to cry and ruin her makeup.. but everyone know it wasn't that .. and that was even why the pictures where taken before the dance

"The bride's mother should come forward and dance with her daughter" the Mc said assuring the bride out of her seat "dj please play a very nice song here for them... one that will make everyone here cry" he joked as everyone chuckled...

...little did they know that that will lead everyone to cry.

and the Dj played Goodbye by Celine Dion.. and the hall went in a comfortable silence as the song ring in everyone's ears

Mama
You gave the live to me, Turned a baby into a lady
And mama
All You had to offer , Was a promise of a life time of love

Zainab's mother held her daughters and they move in circles...

"Oh Allah , not this song"  Hadiza outcried "I myself gonna cry" she said softly as hafsa smiled at her

Now I know
There's no other,
love like a mother's love for her child
And I know
A love so complete ,  someday must leave,
must say goodbye

"Blast and double blast!" Adnan kicked " a sad song really, do they want to make them cry or what"

" I personally hate this song.. it makes my heart go soft" Amir said

"Soft is good" mukhtar replied

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I'll hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I'll cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

..and this time, the mother had hugged her daughter tightly as Zainab quietly weeped on her mother's shoulder.. her head buried inside her ..body shaking.. moving in circles... slowly .. steadily.. beautifully... lovely.. dancing

One by one.. sisters of the mother, even them alkalis mother began to approach them, circling them.. dancing...

It was a very warm, deep, sincere and heat to heart something... it made everyone present in the hall feel devoted and sad

"Amira, are you crying?" Fatima asked "oh crap,  I aint" she answered wiping the tears out of her eyes

"Well then, you have some moisture running down your cheeks... from your eyes" one of the cousins said.. and everyone chuckled including Amira

"Thank you thank you... you can go back to your seat hajiya, our bride is ruining her makeup" the Mc joked as they left to their seats

The MC brought out his handkerchief, mirthfully wiping his imaginary tears.. "Kaii DJ, where did you get this song from?" He asked rhetorically.

"If I had known that this song will make this hall as quiet as a graveyard, i would have played it since" another jest.. another laughters

"Now now... DJ sa mana duma.. let's spice things up here as everyone here got emotional" he started "so ladies and gentlemen .. I call everyone to the stage and dance as this is going to be the last of this event.. even me I go dance oo.. sha bride and groom enjoy yourselves don't come down here.... so so so where are our ladies, our guys... everyone now!!!!"

Shouts and whistles everywhere as people began approaching the dance floor... the song unforgettable was played and this is when Amira understood what her aunt meant by she'd make her dance later... excitedly she met up with her twin brother as they danced beautifully to the beats, the floor was almost theres.. and the song got changed to another and another....everyone danced... Amir, Amira, mukhtar , adnan , Fatima , Fahad , Hannah, abdallah, Hadiza , ubaid ,hafsa ... and the rest of the cousins ... even those fine boys and girls that Amira saw and Amir... they blended and danced together without any pleasantries.... happily .. the event ended as everyone got back to their homes

..... with exchange of numbers of course.
