Homesick For The Home That Had Been Abandoned
"GOD DAMN IT!"
Undyne slammed the controller onto the ground, probably harder than she needed to, while Frisk giggled in victory.
"Undyne," Toriel said with a small frown. "May I ask you to refrain from such language in front of my child?"
The fish lady smoothed her hair down, which had become messy as her losses started piling up. "Yeah yeah, sorry."
Sans lazily stared at the screen, hanging from the back of the couch and grinning. "Wow, that was surprisingly fast."
Undyne gave the skeleton a quick glare before turning her attention to the small human, which was high-fiving Papyrus in victory. "LISTEN HERE PUNK! NEXT TIME, I'LL PUMMEL YOU FOR SURE!"
Frisk returned Undyne's challenging smile, nodding confidently as they sit back down on the soft couch to prepare for the next match. With a huff, Undyne simply picked up the now damaged controller and tossed it to Sans, the skeleton tilting his head to the side to barely dodge it.
"Geez, I didn't think you'd want to murder me." He said in mock betrayal, wiping away an imaginary tear.
"Oh, shut up." She hissed, getting to her feet and setting herself down next to Alphys, which had been consistently looking up from her phone to watch Undyne play. The two shared a few words and the short lizard monster simply gave Undyne a comforting pat on the back. Sans went to reach for the controller but found the force of the throw had basically obliterated it into smithereens. Frisk leaned from their spot to look at the carnage, making a small 'awwww'.
"Well. Guess I can't play." Sans said, shrugging. Frisk made another small whine and just sighed, getting up to turn off the game system.
Toriel glanced over at Sans before turning to Undyne. "Please be more gentle. This is the fifth one I had to replace." Undyne quickly apologized as Toriel went to retrieve the broom from the kitchen.
"Anyways," The fish lady spoke, looking around to the others. "Where's that other bag of bones? The one with the red scarf?"
"MY OTHER BROTHER?" Papyrus asked, looking to Sans. Sans simply shoved his hands into his jacket pockets, his smile beginning to strain a little.
"Yeah, him."
Papyrus and Sans shared another glance before the taller spoke. "WELL... I... DON'T KNOW."
Toriel and Frisk were now looking to the skeleton brothers.
Frisk, in particular, seemed a bit upset. "He hasn't come out of his room since the beach day..."
"I-Is something wrong?" Alpys asked.
Frisk and Papyrus both shrugged, Toriel seeming as concerned yet clueless as them. However, Sans's eye-lights disappeared, dark voids replacing them.
Geno fell to the ground, his eye-sockets wide as his body began to... glitch?
Sans took a few feet back, startled by the sudden motion and watching as Geno gripped his skull, nearly shattering it from how hard he pressed. A loud shrieking ring rang out, drowning out the morbid pain the scarfed skeleton felt.
Slowly, Sans watched in horror as Geno's right eye-socket began to drip and soon started rolling down his face messily. A large red cut gushed out from his chest, slowly oozing onto the floor in a messy puddle. The skeleton started becoming devoid of color, the only thing retaining its original appearance being his scarf. Red speckled his slippers as small streams of red poured from Geno's mouth.
The other skeleton, the one now pressed against the wall, had turned his skull to look away from the sight, for it was a bit too much for him to witness. All he could hear was the distant screaming drowned out by the loud ringing, the only sounds keeping him in the moment.
Finally, when the ringing ceased and the screaming had stopped, Sans gathered the courage to turn back to Geno, only to find the skeleton adorning a rather... familiar look. Geno had looked exactly how he appeared inside the save screen, white jacket and all.
Sans blinked before running to Geno's side. "Geno?" the skeleton had went to turn Geno over, but he stopped when he heard Geno say something.
"...Why did I forget you...?"
After the small party, Undyne and Alphys had left, stating they had a job to do tomorrow. Toriel and Frisk also had to leave, since Frisk had school the next day and Toriel was, well, the teacher.
That left the skeleton brothers, which had already begun cleaning the living room. They didn't do it in silence, however, Sans cracking puns as Papyrus groaned. Then, Papyrus would then ask normal conversational questions, such as ' How has your day been?' and 'Have you ever thought about picking up your socks?' and maybe even 'How well do you think spaghetti will taste with fish broth in it?' and so on. It was a nice evening.
Once the cleaning had been finished, Papyrus moved on to trying out that fish broth spaghetti recipe (even though Sans highly advised against it) while Sans had traveled upstairs.
He walked down the hall and stopped in front of Geno's door, quietly knocking.
"Hey, Geno, you in there?" Sans mumbled softly.
There wasn't an answer.
With a small sigh, Sans simply walked to his room and had decided to turn in for the day, despite it still being daytime.
Geno sat quietly in his room, soft golden rays of sunshine slipping through the curtains of his window. He was sitting on the edge of his bed, his right elbow resting on his shorts as he stared at the ring. In silence, his arms willed themselves to come together, both hands tightly clasping onto the ring in a tight embrace as he brought his balled up hands to his forehead in a slight prayer. His bony thumbs brushed against his skull as he quietly sighed.
"...Where are you, Reaper?"
