A Game Gone Horribly Wrong

"Hey Geno?"

The skeleton looked up from his ring which he had been unknowingly studying for the past hour. "Hm?"

Frisk gestured to the ring. "You've been staring at it since mom looked at it a few days ago."

"Oh." Geno smiled sheepishly, pulling his sleeve so it covered the ring. "I didn't mean to."

Frisk tapped on the cafe table they were sitting at, poking at a small pastry with their fork. "...What do you think it means?"

Geno shrugged. "I...I don't really know."

Frisk sighed. "...Hey Geno?"

"Yeah?"

"..." Frisk looked down. "Nevermind."

Geno raised an 'eye-brow'. "What is it?"

"It's nothing." Frisk said, taking a piece off of the food in front of them.

Geno frowned. "Frisk."

They were already stuffing their face, chewing.

Geno sighed, letting the subject slide. He looked back at his cup.

A steaming cup of coffee.

How odd.

Geno didn't really drink coffee.

Well, he knew someone which did.

...

...wait.

Who?

~~~
"NYEH HEH HEH!"
The ball carefully floated onto Sans' back. "oh. whoops."
Papyrus threw his arms up in victory. "I WIN!"
Suddenly, a ball came hurdling at Papyrus, nearly knocking him over as it penetrated his side. Undyne smiled with a wide toothy grin, tossing a ball into the air and catching it. "GOTTA BE FASTER PAPYRUS!"
As if he were a soldier, Papyrus shot from the ground, standing straight up and saluting. "YES CAPTAIN UNDYNE!"
Alphys had walked over to Sans. "A-Are you okay?"
"eh. i've had worse." He said quietly to Alphys, glancing over at Geno.
Geno was near Papyrus, blinking. "What...?"
Undyne turned to Geno. "HEY PUNK! ARE YOU GOING TO PLAY?"
Geno took one look at Undyne before quickly walking away from the scene, joining Toriel in the shade of a nearby tree. "NOPE."
Undyne scoffed. "Oh COME ON! It's not that hard! Just gotta throw a ball at someone and they're out!"
Another ball was thrown, slamming into Undyne's chest. She tumbled over, getting knocked off balance. However, she planted her heel down and stood up, turning to the source of the ball. Frisk stood there, giving the fish monster a determined look. Undyne matched the look. "Oh? WANNA GO?"
As the dodge-ball fight ensued (with both skeleton brothers and Alphys getting mixed into it since they had no time to leave the area), Geno and Toriel watched in amusement.
"So." Geno finally spoke. "How is your relationship with Asgore been going?"
Toriel sighed. "Only to raise Frisk, I had accepted him and...with Frisk's help...forgave him. But, that does not mean I will forget the children he had killed." She growled, a little angered. Geno's smile wavered. If Toriel ever found out how many times he had killed Frisk...
She let out a small breathe before repositioning herself under the tree. "May I ask how you've been doing as well? You haven't told any of us what had happened, which we will give you as much time as you need, but we have noticed that you like avoiding the kitchen and the living room."
Geno blinked. "Really?"
Toriel looked over Geno, confused. "You have not noticed? Sans had told me that you seem very uncomfortable in the kitchen."
"...Huh."
"Are you alright?"
"O-Oh. Yeah. I think I've been doing fi-"
"W-WATCH OUT!" Alphys had yelled.
A ball had been speeding towards the two, quickly heading at Geno. As the skeleton turned, he caught sight of the ball.
His vision wavered as panic quickly grabbed his soul.
The Ball-T̴̛̛͚̺͕̬͍̼̽͗͋̀͋̉̀̌̈͂͑͑͜͝h̷̝̍̀͒̈́̈̈́̂͌̚̕͜͝ę̸̡͇̘͖͔̯͎͉̾̄̿̈̈̾K̵͉̓̍̑̏̈͋̚̚n̵̛̛̛̝͓͑͌̿̾͐͋̆̀̇̇͑͝ͅi̷̧̛̩̤͖̱̱͂̀̓̏͝͝f̶̛̪̩̰́̀̐͑̌̏͊̿́̐͜͝͝e̶̞̲̜̱̠̤͚͎͍͉͓̜͊̆ was going to hit-c̷̡̛̬̤̖͖̹̮̏̑̈́ų̸̡̲̗͍̖̼̺͓͔͖̺̳̣̖̈́̌́̽͊̔̕͠t̷̬̗̤̦̥̘̝̲̃́̐ him.
In a blur of motion, Geno quickly ducked, avoiding the ball. His eye-socket blazed, terror racking his mind as he quickly shot up from his spot. The sound of the dragon-like skull had phased into existence beside him, aiming dangerously at the ball.
His magic wavered as reality finally set in, the lone ball sitting a few yards away from him finally setting in his mind. With great reluctance, he dismissed the attack, the skull fading away, leaving the skeleton. He quietly turned around, finding that everyone's faces were gaping with surprise. The quiet sound of childish laughter had plagued the back of Geno's mind, but he forced the sound away before taking a few steps back.
"GENO?" Papyrus had said, shocked.
Geno went to look at Papyrus, but quickly found himself go silent as the image of Papyrus missing his head appeared instead.
He quickly turned away, vanishing into thin air.
