While Henry Bowers plays a big part in that, he's not the only reason. His deadbeat parents, and abusive brother, plays a role as well. Him being gay certainly doesn't help.

He knew coming out that he would lose everyone, but he didn't think he would lose his best friend.

Richie Tozier, he used to be best friends with Eddie, but then Henry came along and ruined that.

Henry makes sure everyone knows that Eddies a freak. He doesn't even care anymore. Eddie likes the pain.
