Chapter 10 - We'll never loose her
"You what?" Ragini just stared at Sanskar flabbergasted and he gave the cutest boyish grin ever "that stupidly cute face isn't working on her" Ritika exclaimed smacking his head from the behind and he turned to her with a frown.
"You two sisters are supposed to respect me" he pouted at her cutely "I am your jeeja" he turned to Ragini "and your honewala pati!" Sanskar pointed his index finger at her, his face expressions all confusing Ragini who exclaimed "are you trying to be angry or cute?"
Sanskar gave it a thought then shrugged his shoulders replying "which ever work's for you."
Ritika shook her head interrupting them "you two are stupid and I ain't a part of this stupidity, he might be your agle sath janmonka sathi but I don't think you'll be my agle sath janmonki behen so... " Ritika exclaimed casually turning to leave.
"What about me?" Lakshya exclaimed popping out of nowhere, he brushed his hair in the most sensuous way he could "Main hoon na" he spread his arms in the air and that was the moment, both the sisters started laughing.
Sanskar bit his lower lip trying not hurt his little brother's feelings who was frowning at the sisters "I am the charmer and history has it, how wonderfully this guy has handled everything."
"History does have a lot of things in it" Swara's words reached them before she could, all their faces were now tensed except Lakshya's who was more confused "you here?" he asked.
Swara smiled "My Maa Baba's anniversary and you thought I'll let you noob's plan it alone?" Ritika burst into hysterics and Swara glared at her.
"Sorry... " she breathed "I mean... " she tried not to laugh "Like the girl who called male strippers to perform for Dadi's jagratha, is calling us noob's?" Both the brother's gaped at the duo.
Swara squinted her eyes at Ragini who lifted her hands up in surrender saying "I did not say a word" and she turned to Ritika replying "I was a little girl."
"Yea, little and stupid" Ritika remarked shaking her head.
"It wasn't my fault" Swara pouted at her cutely and she retorted "you took a course for it you dim wit, you are a professional event planner- "
"Okay" Ragini exclaimed standing in between the duo "nope, not at all helping, you two shut up."
Sanskar who was standing right behind her excitedly opened his mouth to speak "you toh don't even think of opening your mouth Sanskar" Ragini exclaimed and Lakshya's hand touched his chin, and he slightly shut Sanskar's mouth with a sad smile.
Sanskar brushed his hand off trying to speak again but failed miserably "Nopsy, Maa Baba are not going to bangkok for a trip, unless of course you want them to come back divorced, do you?" Ragini rolled her eyes at him.
Sanskar shook his head as Ritika spoke "Bangkok? Like seriously?" she stared at Sanskar and this time Swara exclaimed "at what point of your terrible life time did you think, that the elders would approve of this?"
"Bangkok is a nice place though" Lakshya exclaimed rubbing his ear and looking the other way. Ragini feigned a smile "of course, for that matter of fact even goa is swarg ka dwaar for you isn't it?"
Sanskar's eyes lit up "How about- "
"Nope!" Ragini showed Sanskar her palm "you are banned from giving anymore ideas."
"But I toh gave just one" Sanskar exclaimed like a cute baby and Ritika patted his back "First idea is the last idea."
"Wasn't it supposed to be for impressions?" Lakshya thought looking up at the ceiling and Ritika patted on his back lightly whispering "which are not at all good of your's in my eyes."
Sharmishtha smiled as Shekhar grabbed the chopping board from her and sat on her place instead "Tell me what shall the chef do for you today?"
"The chef for starters could wear his glasses so that I don't have to throw away bloody vegetables into the bin" Sharmishtha walked towards the kitchen and Shekhar opened his mouth to speak but failed.
"One... One time that happened" Shekhar tried to reason and could hear her chuckle from within. Shekhar shook his head and grabbed the box of glasses and opened it "I tell you, wives these days got no chill only, bichara husband works and works and all you guys do is point out our one tiny mistake."
Sharmishtha frowned walking out holding a tray filled with vegetables "we guys?"
Shekhar nodded "not at all grateful for such gems that you have, imagine your life without me, just once."
He pointed at the ceiling and she stared, her eyes all dreamy "Damn, so amazing it seems."
"Hun?" Shekhar made a face as Shamishtha continued "Bhagath halwai would have been my sasurji and Chintu my husband, he was so handsome."
Shekhar stared at her as she sat down passing him the tray her eyes still set on the ceiling "We could have gone to abroad together, settled down, I would have had kids that had his genes of beauty and mine of intelligence."
"Do you mean to say that I'm neither intelligent nor beautiful?" Shekhar shook his head slightly exclaiming "han... handsome?"
Sharmishtha turned her attention to him, as sat all straight with a smirk she gazed at him and made a face "uh... yea bleh... "
Shekhar's smirk faded away "What do you mean by Uh... yea bleh" he tried to mimic her and she picked up the knife from the table. Shekhar gulped in as she pointed the knife at him "Of course... " he stuttered "Ofcourse, I am bleh! I am the bleh est person you have ever met."
Sharmishtha smirked turning the knife the other way, she kept it in front of him "Dare you get a drop of blood on my vegetables, I'll make sure you work with bhagath halwai as his peon."
Shekhar cocked his head to the right confused "Halwai's have peons?"
Sharmishtha just gave him a good stare and he replied to himself "Words pe nahi Shekhar emotions pe jaa, kya tu bhi?" he shook his head his attention back to cutting the vegetables, his eyes still slightly had their attention on her.
Sharmishtha's lips curved up, 'No wonder Manav's gone on this monkey dadu of his' she shook her head and resumed with her work.
Shivanya who was hidden behind her room's door and peeping through the side, smiled at them "how can they be so cute? I mean look at my husband, nothing is cute about him, are you sure he is Papa and Maa's son?" she exclaimed pinning her hair behind her ear.
Her bluetooth's light blinked "I'm right here baba, don't worry Ragu, you know right how conscious Maa is about my health."
Shivanya walked up to her bed "Now that she knows I'm unwell" she sat on the bed "Maa won't even step a foot outside and she'll definitely not let Papa leave, he's our emergency pick and drop service after all."
Her lips curved up as "Arre- " she laughed silently bending to her right, her eyes on the door "Okay you guys, please continue your banter later, I might just utilize this opportunity to sleep or we'll all get caught."
Shivanya peeped one last time towards the door and then pulled the duvet over her face, lying on her bed she sighed.
"Ta Da!" Sanskar slightly lifted both his hands up in the air and smirked "Haina, hum kamal ke?"
Ragini walked towards him her eyes observing the decoration around keenly, the flowers, the lights, the decor, everything was just like she'd told him. Sanskar stood still in his SRK position as Ragini walked up to him, her eyes met his and his lips curved up even more.
She lifted her hand up with a smile she pushed him aside and stood at the exact place where he was. Sanskar stumbled a bit but then turned around, he glowered at her as she completely ignored him.
"I think you did a pretty okayish job" Ragini exclaimed shaking her head in positive and Sanskar almost fell on the front in shock "okayish?" he lifted his hand up pointing at the decor he turned around.
"All this" he exclaimed "all of this much bloody mehnath and just 'okayish'?" Sanskar stared at her in disbelief saying "Ishh... Ragini, very much kanjoos ish of you when it comes to giving compliments."
Ragini raised her brows up "you are so so much dramatic Sanskar" she shook her head slightly "all you did was assist the event planners to put everything as per Ritzi's instruction- "
"Swara's" Lakshya cut her up in the middle walking in furiously, Ragini and Sanskar both stared at him confused as he huffed.
Lakshya's hair was all messy, he ran his right hand through them again "your Ritzi madam is as usual useless, all she does is flirt with every other guy she meets. Whilst your poor little Swara does it all."
Lakshya sighed "you know you should stop giving her credits all the time, giving instructions is not a big thing, any one could do it."
"Oh really?" Lavanya exclaimed standing at the entrance "then why don't you bloody do it yourself Lakshya Bhai?"
Swara who was at a distance talking to someone on her cell phone had her eyes on them, all the time. She cut the call and rushed in their direction as Lakshya turned to Lavanya, it seemed like the duo were having a fight.
"You think your oh so perfect, all in your la la land" Lavanya retorted, her eyes red and moist "only if you knew what instructions meant, what it exactly meant like to do just as your said. What it meant when someone says, be careful, don't do what your not supposed to Bhai, I wish you just knew for once."
Swara's steps faltered as now the siblings fight was clearly audible to her, a tear made it's way down as she felt tensed not knowing what to do or say. As she took another step, everything around her suddenly turned silent. She could clearly see them fighting, but she heard nothing.
All that Swara heard was her own voice, her own self, her own stupid remorseful and undignified self, the one that betrayed her soul sister, the only one who had ever meant anything to her...
"I'm sorry Ragini" she exclaimed caressing Ragini's picture, "I'm so so sorry for everything, everything that has ever happened to you, I am sorry Ragu... "
Swara's eyes were now on Ragini who seemed extremely scared, she could read it in her eyes. Ragini's eyes never lied, they were crystal clear, they always showed her emotions so clear, even a stranger could read them.
Swara smiled sadly as Sanskar instantly went by her side and held her, a tear tripped down her cheek. Ragini might have had a hard time finding true love but now that she had, she knew this one would never let her go.
"What's wrong with me?" Lavanya took a step ahead and Swara quivered.
"Everything" Ritika exclaimed holding Lavanya's hand she slightly pulled her back and walked ahead.
Ritika stood in between the siblings, her eyes staring in to his "everything is wrong with you" she turned towards Lavanya "and you!"
Lavanya tried to speak but Ritika cut her off "do not spoil a good occasion, you two monkeys!" she scolded them so cutely that Ragini's mood lightened up.
Sanskar whose eyes were fixated only Ragini sighed in relief "now I know why I love her so much." Ragini cutely looked back at him, his smile made her heart miss a beat as he spoke "she makes my love go from hyper stressed to hyper relieved with nothing lost in the process."
He pecked her forehead and she closed her eyes, her heart beat finally normalizing "I'll make sure no matter what, we'll never loose her."
A tear tripped down Ragini's cheek as the past flashed back,
"You've lost me forever today, remember that okay?"
Ragini was in loss of words as her little sister stood right in front of her, completely broken, her heart skipped a beat as Ritika fell on the ground weeping "you took away the one thing that I thought was only mine."
Tears slid down her cheeks as Ritika yelled "everything I let go away, freaking everything for you and when the time came, when I asked you to let me have this one person, this one emotion, this one piece of my heart" Ragini took a step back "the one piece that had held my broken heart together... "
Ritika cocked her head to the side, her eyes reflected Ragini as she deadpanned "you ripped that person right out of my heart" she ripped the locket from her neck "just like that!"
Ragini closed her eyes in pain as a drop of blood tripped down Ritika's neck "my physical pain hurts you so much Di, then why doesn't my broken heart affect you? How could you- "
"It was necessary, there was no other option Ritzi, please trus- "
"Please" Ritika cut her in standing up "don't use such words that you can't define, trust, promises, sisterhood, love?"
Ritika walked up to her "such good words sound meaningless when they come from your mouth" she smiled sadly "nothing matters to you, you are the only person with a heart that holds the whole bloody world."
Ritika held Ragini's hand in hers "but when it comes to people who are close to you, who actually do love you, you don't have any space for them in your heart" she laughed "how would you have space for us, when that stupid thing is filled with the most useless people on this earth di."
Ragini just stared at her as she kept the locket on her palm and folded her hand "hold this onto you, maybe you could give it to that person whom you sort of proved today that you did love more, even more than me or him."
Ragini looked down at her fist as Ritika turned to the other side. The wind kissed them and Ritika smiled "I'm free today, with that half piece of crap lost in there" she looked down the deep valley, covered with trees and greenery, "I can now be relieved. Good riddance, from your stupid piece of crap and you!"
Ragini buried her face in to Sanskar's chest, she sobbed and he felt like his heart cracked a bit. With every tear that she shed, Sanskar felt a throbbing pain in his chest, but he could do nothing.
He knew there was something off with the two sisters, but trying to sort it all out felt like a mission impossible for him. Sanskar held onto Ragini but his eyes were on Ritika "she loves you so much, I wish you would have never done that to her... "
And that was the moment Ragini's heart broke into a million pieces, she did not know how or why, but one thing she knew for sure was that she was so damn lucky.
The two people who meant the most to her were always the people she hurt the most, every time and again, when ever she thought she would not do it. She would not put them at risk, their emotions, their feelings, she destroyed them all time and again.
"I'm sorry... " was all she could say and she knew his lips curved up, he was not happy for what she had done, though everyone else was, he never supported her on it. Why would he, when she herself felt what she did was wrong, very very wrong.
