Chapter 10
"Hello Internet! Today we have another Reasons Why Dan's a Fail video. If you haven't read the title- which you probably have, it's about how I get way too attached." Dan grinned, doing his little wave as he greeted his audience. The smile didn't reach his eyes but he hoped no one would notice.
-
"Hey guys! Today I thought I'd reminisce and talk about some of my favourite memories! You might want to get a nice cup of tea or some coffee or something because this is probably going to be a long one!" Phil said with a wide smile. It wasn't as wide as it usually would be.
-
Something is off with them.. but what?
What happened?
Dan isn't smiling like usual. He looks upset...
Phil looks like he's been crying? Is it only me who has noticed?
-
"Phil, please come out of your room." Dan mumbled, all hope drained from his empty voice. He had about as much hope as someone looking for a needle in the biggest haystack in the world. When there was no response other than silence, Dan slid his back down the closed door and buried his head into his knees. He let out a soft cry but he made sure Phil couldn't hear him.
-
Phil was sitting at the kitchen counter, a bowl of cereal in front of him, when Dan walked in. His face almost lit up because Phil had finally left his room but then he noticed Phil's face and how soggy the cereal had gotten. He was about to say something but he decided to leave it, not wanting to distress Phil anymore. He just reached out, took the bowl of cereal and threw it away with a frown on his face. He placed the empty bowl in the sink and, all the time he had spent cleaning it up, Phil hadn't even flinched. (HAHA I USED THIS SCENE EARLIER IN THE BOOK BUT WITH DAN.. I AM SO UNORIGINAL IT HURTS)
-
Danisnotonfire: I don't think I am going to do liveshows for a while. I'm sorry! Don't worry though, all's good.
-
AmazingPhil: Not going to do a liveshow today. I'm sorry but we're busy at the moment!
-
There was a knock at the door, making Dan lift his head up from his laptop. He slipped out of bed and wandered downstairs, still in his pyjamas, despite it being nearly evening. He tiredly opened the door, smiling softly at the person who was standing outside. It was PJ and he was holding a plastic tub. "Sophie and I made Totoro cookies and we thought you might like some?" PJ said, holding out the box for Dan to take.
"That's nice of you." Dan took the box and went to close the door but his friend invited himself in.
"I need to talk to you. What has happened with you and Phil? You're both acting.. depressed and it's not just me who has noticed, all your fans have too."
"I know.. do you want a cup of tea? It's a long story."
"You know how I like it."
-
Dan finished explaining and his friend immediately put his tea down and pulled him into a long hug. "I'm so sorry," He mumbled. "I hope you know that I am always here for you and Phil."
"I know. I'm okay though, it's Phil that I am worried about. He barely ever leaves his room and I am afraid he will do something bad one day if we don't help him." Dan responded, standing up. "I'll go see if he wants to say hi." Dan wandered upstairs, knocking on Phil's door. "PJ's here, do you want to come down?"
Phil's door opened very slowly to reveal the teary eyed, red faced man. He looked more like a fragile little boy.
He silently followed Dan downstairs and waved at PJ. "I'm always here for you." PJ immediately said with a friendly smile. "Totoro cookie?" He held out the box that Dan had placed on the table.
Phil shook his head, mumbling a simple "I'm not hungry".
"Come on, Phil. It's just a little cookie. Plus, PJ went through all the effort to make it."
"Fine." He reached out, picking up the cookie and taking a little bite. "It's good, thanks Peej." His voice was fragile- like cracked glass that could smash upon the lightest touch.
"No problem."
"Did Dan tell you what happened?" PJ just nodded, making Phil force a small smile.
"He was worried. I am too." Dan added, looking at his friend with wide, anxious eyes.
"I know." Phil glanced down at his pyjama-covered knees.
"You barely ever leave your room, I never see you eat, you're just generally depressed."
"I'm not depressed." Phil muttered but, as soon as he said it, his face formed recognition. "I'm depressed."
"You need to see a doctor." PJ said and Dan nodded.
Phil stood up, his face unreadable as he silently walked upstairs.
