Chapter 8: The Planning Phase
{Garroth's POV}
What... Have... I... Done? How could I have let Laurence lull me into this situation? I knew that he was going to kill someone, he told me that himself. Why in Irene's name would I even agree to an assassination?! Am... Am I going crazy? I must be... Otherwise I would still be back at home, in my bed, and things wouldn't have gone wrong. It's as simple as that! No... Wait... Then Y/N would still have been killed... And I wouldn't have been there to save her... But now she's here, asleep in my arms. I look down at Y/N's face and saw she was sleeping peacefully. I turned to look back at Laurence, who was rowing the small boat he had been assigned on this mission, and sighed.
Garroth: Laurence... I-I'm sorry for how I lashed out at you earlier. I was-
Laurence: I know... I know.
We were both silent the rest of the ride. Once we got back to O'Khasis's docks, I carefully carried Y/N to the village. I decided the safest person to keep her with was Aubrey Siler, the seamstress. I ran through the the village as fast as I could. Y/N was pretty light. Not that she looked fat or anything... I'm just saying that- know what? I'm just gonna shut up...
Okay, enough of that. We approached Aubrey's shop and home and I knocked on the door repeatedly. Finally, I heard someone approaching. The door opened with a slight creak and a tall girl with long, red hair and hazel eyes appeared in the dark doorway. She put on a pair of prescription glasses and rubbed her eyes.
Aubrey: Mr. RoMeave... What're you-
She yawned. Suddenly, she spotted Y/N and that seemed to wake her up.
Aubrey: Mr. RoMeave, what's going on?! Who is that?! And why is she unconscious?!
Garroth: Aubrey, there's no time to explain. May I come in?
Aubrey: Y-yes, of course. Please, come in.
Aubrey opened the door wider, allowing me to enter with Y/N in my arms. Aubrey's shop was covered in fabrics of all patterns and colors. She lit some candles that spread across the room and I set Y/N on a wooden bench. Aubrey ran upstairs and came back down with a pillow and a blanket. She propped Y/N's head up with the pillow and I covered her with the blanket. Glancing over at Aubrey, I could see a worried expression on her face. She looked at me, and I knew what she was thinking.
Garroth: She's the lord-to-be in Dragonoore. Z-Zane sent Laurence to assassinate her in her sleep since he was supposed to be the Dragonoore heir. Laurence invited me along and I'm not sure why I even agreed. But at least she's still alive.
Aubrey: You know... That was a very dangerous thing for you to do. If Zane wants her dead, then bringing her to O'Khasis was the worst possible option you could've chosen.
Garroth: I know...
Aubrey: Then why'd you do it?
There was a brief moment of silence and us just standing there, staring at Y/N. Finally, Aubrey spoke.
Aubrey: What's her name?
Garroth: Y/N...
Aubrey: That's a pretty name, it's very suiting for her.
Garroth: It really is.
Aubrey: If I may ask, why did you bring her to me?
Garroth: Because I knew that I could trust you to take care of her. You're the nicest, most sweetest person in all of O'Khasis. She'd feel at home with you around.
Aubrey: Even more so than your mother?
Garroth: Well, you're in a close second.
She laughed quietly, and even I chuckled. I couldn't keep my eyes off of Y/N. I was too worried about her. I knew she would be in good hands here, with Aubrey, but I'm not ready to leave her just yet.
Garroth: Aubrey... I have to go back to my home. The sun is starting to rise and my family will notice that I had left if I'm not back before they wake. Can I trust you to keep her safe?
Aubrey: Of course, Mr. RoMeave.
Garroth: Good. And one more thing, if I may add. When she wakes up, do you think you could disguise her so that nobody would recognize her?
Aubrey: I'll try my best.
Garroth: T-Thank you, Aubrey.
She gave a sweet smile and nodded her head. And with that, I walked out the door. It took very little time at all to get home and take off all my armor. The sun had already risen by the time I got in my bed. Afterwards, I dozed off for about an hour until my maid, Hannah, came in to wake me up. I got out of bed as if nothing happened, but all the while I was thinking about Y/N. I wonder what's going to happen when Uncle Aiden finds Y/N missing... Knowing him, he'd probably send out a search party and would not stop searching until they found her. He did think of her as if she were his own daughter. Separating a daughter from a father would be hard for both. Oh my Irene, what have I done? I walked downstairs to the dining room where my family was already seated and eating breakfast.
Garte: Ah, so he finally decided to get up.
Garroth: I'm sorry, father. I didn't get much sleep last night.
Zianna: Oh dear, is something wrong? Are you sick?
Garte: Zianna, Garroth is fine. He's a strong young man. He wouldn't let a thing like sickness get to him entirely. Now, Garroth, go ahead and eat your breakfast. You'll need your strength for your village patrol today.
Perfect. I can use that time to go and check on Y/N.
Garroth: Yes, father.
Hannah came walking in with a tin tray with my breakfast on it. I thanked her and began eating. I tried to quicken my eating so that I could get to Y/N sooner. Then, I could talk to Aubrey about my plans on what to do with Y/N.
Well, I almost ran out of ideas there for a sec! Heheh, glad I didn't. Otherwise, I would've had to rely on Zianna again for "inspiration". Oh man, it's really late. I've been up for so long writing this chapter. Plus, this song that I chose is my most favorite song ever. It really is a great song. I hope all you peeps will enjoy it as well. Anywho, enjoy your summer and stay awesome. This book is almost at 100 reads and I'm so psyched! I really appreciate that.
