Chapter 10: Two Weeks
{Y/N's POV}
Zane... Zane wants me... Dead? Is... Is that why I'm here? Why I'm dressed like this? But... No. No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no this can't be happening. Oh my Irene, why me? What did I- Alright, Y/N, stay calm. You're sweating out of fear and you've frozen in front of Garroth. He's worried about you. That's why he brought you here, to O'Khasis. Now, respond to him. He's calling out your name, let him know you're okay.
Garroth: Y/N!
Y/N: H-huh?
Garroth: Y/N, you froze up after I told you that Zane wanted you dead. Are you okay?
Y/N: Of course, I'm not okay! Your brother is trying to kill me! And he saw me right here!
Garroth: But he didn't recognize you. That's why I had Aubrey disguise you. I wish she hadn't chosen an outfit that was so formal, but it'll work for now. For now, we must talk about your escape plan. Through the woods is a small, abandoned ship port where I will be waiting with a boat to take you back to Dragonoore. We won't be able to leave for another two weeks because I have to leave for a trip to Phoenix Drop tomorrow. I'm not sure about what I'm going to do with you for the time being, but I'll think of something. I may just have to end up leaving you with Aubrey again. I don't want to take you with me, for the reasons of drawing too much attention to yourself. Nobody can know that you're you.
Y/N: Alright, but there's still one thing that I don't understand. Why did you bring me to O'Khasis, of all places?
Garroth: Because O'Khasis is the last place Zane would look for you if he found out you weren't really dead. Knowing Zane, he would probably send people to make sure you were dead. If I had left you there, he would know that you were not dead and then he'd try to kill you once more. In a way that would be more effective than the previous attempt. Do you now understand why I took you away from Dragonoore?
I nodded my head, but there were still things I didn't understand. Finally, I decided not to question him anymore than I already had. The rest of the day, Garroth just showed me around O'Khasis. Since he was going to be gone for two weeks, he thought that I would need to become aware of my surroundings. That night, Garroth returned me to Aubrey's workshop and asked her if I could spend the next two weeks with her. Aubrey agreed and went to grab the pillow and blanket I had used before. Soon after, Garroth told me that he would stop by tomorrow morning to tell me goodbye before he left.
Garroth: Y/N, please be careful. I don't want you getting hurt.
Y/N: Garroth, you can give me that talk tomorrow before you leave. I'm an adult, for Irene's sake. I don't need you taking care of me 24/7.
Garroth: I-I know...
And with that, he kissed my forehead and left. I stood there, frozen, for a little while. A few moments later, Aubrey came back to her workshop and placed a pillow and a blanket on the bench beside me. I thanked her and she hugged me tightly. Why is everyone showing me so much affection today? First the villagers, then Garroth, then Aubrey. Who's next, Zane? I laughed at the thought of Zane just casually walking up to me and suddenly throws a bouquet of flowers at my face then walking away. Before I knew it, the sun was just starting to rise when I heard a door open and close. I expected to see Garroth there, but instead I saw Zane. My heart started to beat rapidly and for a moment I thought it would explode out of my chest. I pretended to be asleep but he walked right up to me, stood there for a while, then left. What was that about? I wondered. I tried to sleep again when I heard the door open a second time. It was Garroth. He walked over to the bench I was "sleeping" on and shook my shoulder a bit.
Garroth: Y/N, wake up. I'm leaving for Phoenix Drop.
I slowly sat up and saw him face to face with me. Then we went through the plan once more before he hugged me.
Garroth: Please be safe, Y/N. Remember, if you ever feel like you are in danger, I showed you where my secret hideout is in the woods.
Y/N: I know, and I promise I won't get caught.
Garroth: Good.
And with that, he left Aubrey's workshop without another word. I got up off of the bench and felt something under my pillow. It was a letter with the name Y/N written on the envelope. I opened it up and read it aloud softly.
Y/N,
Please meet me in the forest by the old docks. I have something I need to discuss with you that is of great importance. And make sure that you come alone, I don't need anyone listening in on our conversation. If you come with others, they shall be executed upon sight. Do not try to avoid this meeting, because I shall find you if you skip out. I know that you are currently staying with Aubrey the Seamstress, otherwise how would I have given this letter to you? I shall be waiting at our meeting spot at sundown. Until then, have a lovely day.
I looked the letter all over, but I saw no signature nor trace of any evidence of who sent this to me. It could have been Zane, but when he came here, he didn't make any motions as to putting a letter under my pillow...
Maybe I should meet them.
Alright, I really don't have anything to say. Nothing's been going on recently, so I have nothing to discuss. Other than the fact that I'm volunteering for an event at my church all this week. No, I'm not really a Christian. I'm an atheist but I can't leave my church. I love everybody there, they're all so sweet and everyone loves everyone. They're like family to me, and I can't leave behind family. :)
