Why I ship Jancy part 1
Alright basically this chapter is about who I ship Nancy with. (Jonathan of course)
(Also note: I wrote all this before I had watched season two so at the point when I wrote this I didn't know they ended up together and was hoping so and saying why they should. But I'm still publishing this so you all can see my thought process on why I shipped them before they became canon.)
So I really ship her with Jonathan. I have actually been shipping the two together since like one of the very first episodes of season one. I don't exactly remember how I came to ship them but I do. I think my orginal thought was just that they look hella cute together. But as I've watched more of the show I have gained a good amount of reasons as to why I ship her with him and not Steve. Below I will list them.
1. Her and Steve are very on and off and probably unhealthy. Her and Steve have been on and off twice now and it's kind of annoying and I would like for Nancy to have a stable relationship. I feel Jonathan would be able to provide that.
2. Steve doesn't respect her. With the amount of times Steve has said mean things to her, not believed her and disrespected her I don't think he's a good match. She shouldn't have to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't respect her. Jonathan does. Jonathan has never said anything mean to her or disrespected her and he really seems to trust her which is something that is needed in a relationship that she and Steve lack.
3. Jonathan is a better match. Of course I don't know for sure but this is my personal belief. First off, they get along really well. Secondly, they trust each other. Lastly, he's there for her, he's patient with her. He actually listens to her and tries to comfort her about things when Steve pretty much never did that. Jonathan is good support.
4. They have good chemistry. This one is mostly just intuition. But there was one scene they had in season two that just made me say outloud to my cousin (She's who I watch the show with), "ohhh look at them they just have such good chemistry!" I'll put pictures of the scene below:
One above ~ I love that one it's just so cute omg. Someone help me before I die of cuteness
Above ~ don't look at this and tell me these two don't have chemistry. They clearly do unless I'm delusional (hehe now I know that at least Murray agrees with me)
5. They ways that they look at each other. Throughout the series there have been many times where they would look at each and hold eye contact or one would just look at the other without the other knowing. All the looks they give each other just makes me feel like they're meant to be, like they're in love and don't know it or something. Below I will post some picture where this plays a factor:
He's looking at her with what seems to be genuine concern
That look! Idk what it is but it's so precious and just awww
Idk if it's just me but it almost looks like she's looking at his lips in that picture. Tell me if you agree or not.
The way she's looking at him in this! 💕
The way he's looking at her! It almost seems to be a mix of concern and unsureness
Even though she's drunk in this ~ that face! And how she mumbled his name. In that scene it almost seemed like she was going to tell him something but didn't and it makes me so curious as to why she said his name!!! And the way he looked back at her...
Okay that face is so precious, just that look ~ that totally seems like a look a girl would give her boyfriend if he was annoying her or telling bad jokes, etc.
Okay this one is actually my lock screen on school iPad XD. But I love this one so much, it's so adorable. The looks they're giving each other in this one is just so cute.
6. Nancy doesn't love Steve. Okay yeah so she said this indirectly while drunk but still people have said that when people are drunk they say their secrets, etc. Besides the next day she tells Jonathan, "what if I meant it?" And I can't help but think that she is not only referring to the pretending everything is fine part. In that moment I feel like she is worried that she actually doesn't love Steve and instead likes Jonathan. Also now that I've seen season two it was obvious that she doesn't love Steve when Murray said so, her reaction gave it away for sure.
7. When she kisses him on the cheek. Why would she kiss a guy on the cheek when she's in a relationship and has no feelings towards that guy?! Like you wouldn't do that if you only had platonic feelings towards that guy. For me this scene made it obvious that maybe she does like him as more than a friend. I don't know that's just how I look at it. Also how she looks at him after she kisses his cheek and looks down from embarrassment. And the smile he gives her afterwards is just priceless. And then when she smiles back... just ugh it's so obvious they're in love.
