Chapter 22~THIRD PERSON POV~ A Tuesday morning of June.

Today, the day has finally come and there were hours left before the battle. Bluish gray clouds blanketed the island and far away from here, leaving without the sun. Derek and Nadia slept together, their arms embracing each other and breathing peacefully. Suddenly, the wind whooshed through the rustling plants and made the young lovers awake. Derek opened his eyes and saw the whole room blue. He looked at Nadia; her right bare shoulder and arm she laid on with the blank pillow. He brought his fingers under her chin, tilted his head, and kissed her on the lips gently.

Derek broke the kiss apart, as her closed eyes blinked once or twice. She slowly opened her eyes, looked at Derek and fixed his unkempt hair to look cute on her. He smiled as they giggled together.

"Well, today's the big day, huh?" Nadia asked and he sighed.

"I felt like I'm ready." Derek nodded as she smiled.

"I'm going to find what I'm going to wear today." Derek spoke as he got out from the bed and walked around it to the drawers.

Nadia covered her bare chest on the white blanket, as she reached and grabbed her black, lace bra. She put the bra in the her drawer and found her white bra and tank top. She clapsed her white bra and put the white tank top. Then, she found white twill shorts in her drawer, grabbed it, put and buttoned it on. She finally uncovered herself from the blanket, wearing all white. Derek had his white tank top on and he put and buttoned his denim shorts on.

"Are you sure that Mariana and her adoptive family are coming down here?" Nadia asked him.

"I'm sure they'll come down." Derek nodded.

"Hey, do you want to help me clean up a little in this room? Because I'm expecting that my dad will come back here in any moment." Nadia asked as Derek nodded.

They outstretched the white blanket together, and walked towards each other while they folded the blanket in half. She folded the blanket in half the second time and put neatly on the bed.

"There. All nice and clean." Nadia grinned as Derek grinned, too.

"Let's get the weapons, and we're all ready." Derek spoke as he went to the closet door and opened it.

They carried the quivers and bows around their shoulders, they put the sword belts (attached with scabbards and swords in) around their waists. Nadia found the sapphire necklace Derek gave in the drawer, so she put it around her neck. Nadia looked the mirror of the door and fixed her long hair, as Derek stood behind her, stared at her necklace and fixed his hair also. She giggled as she looked at him, they giggled together and his arms wrapped around her waist.

"Don't look yourself on the mirror every day, because everyday I look at you, you're always beautiful." Derek softly spoke.

Those words from Derek made Nadia's heart slowly melt.

"Thank you, Derek, because every day I look at you, you're always handsome as well." Nadia grinned and he kissed her cheek.

"Derek! Nadia! Where are you?" A familiar voice called their names all the way down.

"Is Mariana calling us?" Nadia asked him.

"I think so. We better get down here." Derek urged as they opened the door and hurried downstairs to the living room.

"Freddy, come on." Nadia called her pet lizard to come with them.

The lizard tried to hurry with them but Nadia carried and put him on her left shoulder.

They went outside from the living room, they saw Mariana and her adoptive family standing with the catapult. They have their bows and quivers with arrows around their shoulders and the swordbelts (attaching the scabbards with swords in it) around their waists.

She was wearing the same outfit five days ago, but she additionally wears the golden necklace with the blue topaz pendant. All of them are ready for the awaiting battle. Derek and Nadia walked down the stairs in front of everybody.

"Are you guys ready?" Mariana grinned.

"We're ready." Derek sighed as they grinned.

"Okay, but first someone has to climb up the trees to check if they're approaching this island." Mariana spoke.

"We could do that." Nadia spoke.

"Okay, great. The rest of us will camouflage between the plants so no one will see us." Mariana instructed as her adoptive family hid between the plants and trees.

Nadia and Derek climbed the tree, carefully so they won't fall. Nadia brought a telescope in her hand and looked through it to see if the Buccaneer ship is coming. However, she saw the ant-sized figured boat towards the island.

"Look at them, I'm sure that no other stranger's going to invade the island...except my dad." Nadia muttered.

"Attention, everyone!" Derek called as everyone stood up, including Nadia's pets who are down there.

"Today's the day we fight for our piece of the world! This is our island!" Derek raised his firm tone as everyone gave a shoutout.

Derek and Nadia climbed down from the tree and jumped down on the ground.

"Come with us, Sophie." Nadia urged the seal as she crawled quickly behind her and Derek about to run to the beach.

"The rest of you stay here, we'll be back in any moment. Mariana, keep an eye on everyone." Derek urged.

"What you said, brother." Mariana grinned as the couple and the seal ran to the left side of the shore.

They waded in the water, their bodies were about to submerge deeper and deeper. Until the water submerged between their shoulders and their arms. They gripped the huge black collar around the seal and dove in the water. They followed the seal by gripping its collar, the only thing they did is kicking the water with their legs. They expected to emerge to get some air. Bubbles came out from their noses and their mouths, trying to be at underwater a little longer but they can't. They tugged Sophie's collar as the trio emerged from the water, as Derek and Nadia gasped for air. They saw the tourists and captains rowing, (there were three boats from the ship; filled with those people) towards the shore, and swam behind the rock, hiding. Sophie slipped up from the water to the flat boulder. Derek and Nadia fixed their wet hair to see it clearly what was going on.

"Give me your telescope." Derek panted; Nadia gave him the telescope from the sword belt.

Derek looked throughout the telescope, looking those tourists and captains kept rowing towards the island.

"They've come to the wrong place. Nobody invades this island and gets away with it." Derek muttered.

"Ok, Sophie. Go get them now. Gas them out. Teach them what happens when chunks of dead fish and plantains mix together." Nadia demanded Sophie.

Sophie barked as she agreed, and she dove down underwater. She glided smoothly underwater, and suddenly, bubbles came out on the water.

"A picture-perfect paradise." A male captain gazed at the island.

"What's that down there?" A senior female tourist exclaimed while she saw bubbles popping out from the water (she never knew it was Sophie making her bubbles).

"Some kind of underwater geyser, maybe." Another male captain guessed.

Sophie kept bubbling all around those tourists who were approaching the island. She's trying disgust those people to come back to the ship.

"Oh, my God. What's that filthy smell?" A female elder tourist disgusts.

Derek and Nadia giggled together because they thought that was funny for them. Sophie kept bubbling and bubbling underwater.

"Rancid!" A female tourist exclaimed disgustingly.

People in the boats clamored and complained about the foul smell at the water.

"I think it's working." Nadia grinned as a smiling Derek gave her the telescope back to look at their reactions.

"Turn this boat around. It's horrible! I'm going to vomit." A male tourist complaining.

People kept chattering, complaining and clamoring about the smelly bubbles. Suddenly, some teenagers saw something under the water.

"Hey, look, it's a sea lion." A teenager pointed Sophie emerging from the water.

"Look at him. Our very own welcoming committee." Another female tourists smiled and mimicked Sophie's barks.

Sophie looked upset and swam away from the tourists. Derek and Nadia didn't looked happy that it didn't work.

"You gave it your best, Sophie." Nadia softly spoke.

"Oh, when, oh, when your dad will come back?" Derek softly whimpered.

"I'm certain very soon before they come." Nadia assured.

"We still can't give up, we still have plans to accomplish." Derek persisted.

"Let's go inside the jungle." Nadia urged Derek to go back where Mariana and her adoptive family were hiding between the plants.

"You too, Sophie. Come on." Derek urged Sophie to come with them.

They ran past the plants and the bushes to look for Mariana and others. Despite of those annoying plants hitting them, they climbed up the tree to see what those people are doing. Nadia looked through the telescope, and she saw some people putting tall, red boxes on the beach.

"What those little houses they brought with them?" Nadia asked.

"What?" Derek was curious that what she refers to those "little houses".

Nadia gave Derek her telescope, he looked through it and saw those red "little houses", too. Derek already knew what are those.

"Those are public bathrooms." Derek referred.

"Oh." Nadia muttered as Derek gave her telescope back.

Suddenly, they heard leaves rustling down there. Who could it be?

"It looks a jungle in here, filled with plants and trees." A familiar, female teenage voice was heard.

"Yeah, I've got a feeling that no one could live here." Another familiar, but male teenage voice was also heard.

Derek's heart was racing with fear because he definitely knew who are those voices.

"Jason." Derek shuddered but down here, no one could hear him.

Derek looked down at Jason and Keira (Jason's girlfriend) looking around everywhere. Jason wears a white shirt with denim shorts; Keira wears her tank top with sleeveless denim jacket and fingertip length shorts.

"Is that your brother?" Nadia softly asked him.

"Yeah, and I think that girl down there is his girlfriend." He whispered.

"Don't do anything to them, but they'll never know we're here." He whispered as she nodded.

Freddy softly cawed and Nadia shushed him.

"No, Freddy. Don't do anything to them." Nadia softly warned him.

Suddenly, leaves started to rustle again. Jason and Keira looked everywhere, curious of who made that sound.

"No, no, no, don't." Derek whispered.

Sophie came out of nowhere, scaring Jason and Keira off by her aggressive barks.

"Oh, my God!" Keira startled.

"Let's get out of here!" Jason urged as they held hands and ran away from the jungle.

Nadia shook her head, that she's not happy what Sophie had done to them. Derek got pissed off to the seal. They jumped down to the ground in front of Sophie.

"Sophie, what were you thinking?" Derek angrily whispered.

"How many times that I've told you not to scare anyone off without my permission?" Nadia whispered as Sophie faced down.

"Jason, Keira, are you kids alright?" A familiar female voice asked them; Derek got caught attention that he knew whose voice is it.

Now he feels his heart hammering and his nerves are shaking.

"Maybe they're just running in the beach all over, that's all." A familiar male voice guessed and Derek's body was trembling.

He started shuddering. He felt the cold of fear knocking him down. Nadia saw his scared face which made her worry.

"Derek, is something wrong?" Nadia asked him as he kept shuddering.

He shook his head.

"I know those familiar voices besides Jason and his girl." Derek shuddered.

"Who?" Nadia asked.

He shuddered, his tears were about to flow and his hands are shaking.

"It's my parents. They're here." He shuddered.

Nadia was shocked. They held hands, rushing to hide somewhere else in the island.
