Chapter 19~3rd person POV~A Monday afternoon in June.

The hazy sun rose up slowly like it was waking up from the night. Mariana, Derek and Nadia slept together peacefully like babies. Suddenly, the chimes of the tipi was heard that it woke them up a little. Mariana got up from her bed and stretched her arms wide to get her blood going. She took a glimpse of her brother and Nadia, sleeping together and holding each other's arms.

She looked for her weapons the blue topaz made, and got them on for today's training. She carried a basket full of small sandbags. She walked out from her tipi, inhaled and exhaled of fresh air. The wind blew on her face and her hair; she stared at the open, grass field. She looked down at tall kinds of trees in the island. Peach-colored sky had slowly turned to sky blue, as the sun kept rising up.

"I don't want to wake them up because they kept sleeping. I understand that they need to get a rest before training." Mariana thought.

Suddenly, Wayna and Sayen walked out from their tipi. They saw Mariana standing at the hill, staring at the sun.

"Mariana." Wayna called her as she looked at him and Sayen behind her.

"Are you ready?" Sayen asked her.

"I'm just waiting for everybody to wake up so we all can get started our training." She spoke.

"Can we just wake them up?" Wayna asked her.

However, Mariana shook her head and shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know. If you want to, you can." Mariana spoke as Wayna and Sayen walked away from her.

They went to Chayton and Migisi's tipi to check if they had woken up. They opened the tipi's doors and saw them sitting on the floor, stretching.

"Guys, wake up. Mariana needs us now. Get your weapons ready for the training." Wayna notified them.

"Is everyone awake?" Chayton asked him while looking for and preparing the weapons.

"No, not everyone. Besides, we haven't woke them up yet." Sayen spoke.

"Guys! Are you awake?" They heard Ashkii calling them. Chayton and Migisi came out from their tipi.

"Thank goodness you're awake." Wayna sighed in relief; Ashkii and Nova have their individual weapons on.

"Knoton, Tama, Aquene, Derek, Nadia and sempul are the only ones left." Ashkii spoke.

"Wait, but where's Mariana?" Nova asked them.

"She's still standing there on the hill." Sayen pointed on Mariana still standing as a statue.

"I think sempul is waking them up." Chayton spoke while he looked at their father, opening the tipis to wake everyone else up.

Finally, they all woke up and refreshed, and they came out with their weapons ready for today's training.

"Do we have our weapons ready?" Mariana asked everyone.

"We got it all ready, tsmuke." Aquene assured.

"All right." Mariana nodded.

"So, first of all, we're going to catapult lizards to attack people. But not today, because last night, Nadia told me that she kept the lizards safe in her home. We're going to use sandbags to catapult." She showed the small, palm-sized sandbags.

"Sempul, don't you have a catapult in your tipi?" She asked him.

"I do. It's really old, however." He spoke.

"Want me to go get it?" He asked her as Mariana nodded.

He went into the tipi to find a catapult. Seconds later, he finally found it. He carried it in his arms; it wasn't that heavy. Besides, it wasn't that big as she thought. It was exactly the size of Nadia's seal, Sophie.

"I think that's a good size for that." She spoke.

"So we're gonna catapult lizards with this?" Knoton asked her as she nodded.

"I'll show you how does it work. Watch." She spoke as she kneeled on the grass field.

She took a sandbag out from the basket, and puts in the catapult's bucket. She pulls the bucket, attaching its arm. The rope from the bucket was so elastic that it couldn't even break. She lets it go, and the sandbag flew far away.

"Oh my..." Nova shouted.

"Whoa!" Chayton laughed.

"Damn, I couldn't see where the sandbag go." Wayna chuckled as his hands covered his face from sun.

He wondered where the sandbag goes after being released.

"Well, I thought that this catapult didn't work anyway. It's really old because I used it since in my days. But it still worked." Wahchinksapa Tyee chuckled.

"What should we do with our weapons, Mariana?" Nadia asked her.

"For the weapons, we have a wooden target stand behind you." She pointed as everyone looked behind it.

"If you hit from the crust to the core of the target, you know you're going to win." Mariana advised.

"If you fail, keep trying. It's your first attempt in learning." Mariana advised.

"I hope all of us know how to shoot arrows, right?" Mariana asked as everyone nodded.

"The swords we'll practice each other. Half of us will pretend allies, the other half would pretend pirates." Mariana positioned them as everyone agreed.

"Okay, I would recommend everyone to try it. If you fail, don't give up, because what you expect, prepare. Practice, practice, practice. But don't worry, I'll be training with all of you guys." Mariana advised them as everyone smiled.

"Are we're ready to train?" She asked everyone, as she pulled out the sword.

Everyone pulled the swords out carefully, like they're ready for the battle.

"We're ready." Derek grinned.

"So then let's..." Mariana raised her voice as everyone lifted the swords.

"Do it!" Everyone shouted as they clinked each other's swords.

"Derek, you want to try catapulting?" Mariana asked him as he grinned.

"I'll do it." He chuckled as he kneeled down on the grass.

He put a sandbag in the bucket from the catapult. He pulled the bucket all the way down. Finally, he lets it go and the sandbag flew all the way out. He was amazed that he got excited after he did it.

"Oh, my God!" He exclaimed as Nadia saw it, also.

"That's awesome!" Nadia exclaimed.

"Let me try that." She pleaded as she kneeled down to try catapulting.

She put another sandbag on the bucket. She pulls it, lets it go and it worked perfectly. The sandbag flew all the way to the shining sun, because they couldn't see where did it go.

"Mariana, that's awesome! This is perfect for catapulting lizards!" Nadia exclaimed.

"Yeah. Try to take it home tonight, so you don't have to go up here to find it for tomorrow. I'll be practicing swordfights with the others." Mariana spoke as they nodded.

"Hey Mariana, can we practice shooting arrows?" Derek asked her.

"Yes, you can. Don't forget, try your best." Mariana advised them as they nodded.

Derek and Nadia walked towards the wooden target stand, but stood there about five meters away.

"You're going to shoot it first?" Derek asked Nadia.

"Yeah." She grinned as she took out an arrow from her quiver.

She pulled the arrow in a bow's string all the way back, and lets the arrow go. The arrow flew and pierced the core. Derek was amazed that how skilled she is of shooting arrows. He took an arrow out of his quiver, pulled the arrow and kept his eye on the target. Suddenly, she straightened his arm, holding the bow to pierce the target's core. They took longing looks to each other, and he kept his eye back to the core. He lets it go, and the arrow flew smoothly until it pierced the core, also.

They grinned each other.

"I didn't know you're good at archery." Derek chuckled.

"Me neither of you." Nadia giggled.

"Let's try this again." Derek spoke as he walked towards the wooden target and took the two arrows out from it.

He gave one of the arrows to Nadia. Both pulled the arrows all the way back in the bow's string. They let the arrows go and both arrows pierced the core of the target. They smiled to each other, resembling success.

"Awesome." Nadia chuckled.

"Derek, you know how to swordfight?" Nadia asked him as he paused for a moment to think.

"I think, I'm not sure." He shrugged his shoulders.

"It's because I don't want to get cut by these swords. I know they're sharp. I just don't want to get hurt." Derek spoke.

"Don't worry, Derek." Nadia put her hand on his shoulder.

"We're going to do this carefully." Nadia spoke as Derek nodded.

They assumed in en garde position, and carefully they swung all over ways. They clinked and scratched each other's swords. They arced the sharp swords in the air, clinked and scratched again. Until Nadia's sword stopped on his waist and Derek's sword stopped on her thigh. They smiled each other again, learning how to swordfight against those pirates.

"I think you're good." Nadia smirked.

"You too." Derek softly spoke.

Ashkii, Knoton, Nova and Tama practiced swordfighting by swinging the swords in air. They clinked and scratched each other's swords. They took practicing very seriously so they won't get cut by either sword. Chayton and Migisi practiced shooting arrows, piercing the wooden target. Wayna and Sayen were practicing catapulting sandbags as lizards. They put the sandbag in the bucket, pulled it and lets it go. The sandbag flew far away that he laughed for success. Mariana looked for her blue topaz wand in her treasure chest at the tipi. She took it out and walked out from her tipi.

"I might never knew what's the meaning of this powerful gemstone. Although it overpowered me at first. Now for the second." Mariana spoke.

Suddenly, the blue topaz wand began to glow and slowly turned to a golden necklace with the blue topaz pendant (big for the wand, small for the necklace). The golden necklace tangled her fingers and the blue topaz slowly stopped glowing in her palm. She was amazed that she could completely think that God had used this gemstone to make unusual things. Her faith towards it began to bloom in her heart and her mind, despite of being overpowered by the blue topaz. She untangled the necklace and puts it on around her neck. It began to glow again for seconds and then, it fades away.

She felt an air surrounding her hands all of a sudden. She looked her hands and the glowing, light blue, sparkling dust had surrounded her arms. She wasn't expecting that but she wasn't scared of it. The glowing dust had absorbed her hands which made her confused. However, she would learn right after this. She outstretched her hand and began to float in the air. She can imagine herself like she's floating on a blue, starry sky filled with galaxies. She flipped herself up and landed smoothly on the grassy field.

"I have never done a flip like this before." She thought.

"Mariana!" Aquene called her.

"Yeah?" Mariana answered as Aquene walked towards her after practicing swordfighting.

"You have the wand?" Aquene asked her.

"Actually, this..." Mariana showed the blue topaz necklace to Aquene.

"...was the wand. It just turned to a necklace." She spoke as Aquene looked the necklace confused.

"How..." Aquene stammered.

"Weren't you expecting that?" Aquene asked her and Mariana shook her head.

"It was all of a sudden." Mariana spoke.

"Wow." Aquene whispered.

"I have never seen anything like that. I didn't know that this gemstone could do so many things." Aquene said as Mariana smiled.

"Me neither until the power of this gemstone had overcame me." Mariana softly spoke.

"I think that was the second step to the true meaning of the blue topaz." Mariana said while looking down her necklace.

"Yeah." Aquene softly spoke.

"You know, I don't think we could just train all day." Mariana spoke.

"You're right. How about we all take one hour break?" Aquene asked Mariana.

"Well, I'm sure that's enough." Mariana agreed.

"All right, everyone! Let's take an hour break to renew our strength and get our blood flowing!" Mariana announced as everyone rested in an hour.
