Author's Note
Before, since middle school, I didn't like writing. Why? There are so many reasons why I didn't like that I couldn't even tell. But I think the common reason for me is that in school, some teachers put me and my classmates to write an essay as an answer from a specific question. That's why I didn't like, and I thought that it would be challenging for me. Now, in high school, it seemed that I'm good at writing. I may not have any idea why, however. I wrote experiences in high school that I've never had before. In English class, I read some books that I've never read before and it gave me the motivation to write a novel. I already knew that writing makes you remember the time.
This whole story is teen fiction. It has been inspired by movies, commercials, other books foreign languages to characters resembling from one on the movies. First of all, I watched two movies that really inspired me to write this novel. They are Nim's Island and Return to Nim's Island. They're adventure movies and I loved it. I used those movies to make the plot more balanced. The foreign people who live in the island definitely inspired me from the first movie, where the Indians lived. The commercials I saw that reminds me of Nim's Island films are Acqua Di Gioia. The setting is a misty, rainy blue forest and a shore. It looked so beautiful and romantic for a pair. Other books that inspired me to write this novel are the Bluest Eye, because the point of view changes from one character to another. Also, the parents of the main character were fighting in the house every day. Nadia's necklace was inspired by the Heart of the Ocean necklace from the blockbuster James Cameron film, Titanic. Some parts I wrote was inspired from the film.
I used the redesigned Pocahontas from the Disney film to be resembled by Mariana Watkins in this novel. Between Pocahontas and Mariana Watkins, they have a lot in common and differences. The foreign language I used for this novel is Na'vi language from the movie "Avatar". Their language was the one I've never heard before. It sounded very interesting. Some passages that I couldn't even describe because it was kind of a bit challenging, so I looked up some descriptions/passages/any fanfiction from the Internet. I give thanks and credit to the people who uploaded amazing descriptions/passages and fanfictions on any website on Internet. While I was writing this challenging novel, I felt like every chapter is swinging one mood to another. I like doing that because this whole book I wrote made me cry, laugh and feel tingly. It took me almost the whole school year (in my junior year) to finish it, but thank God that I made it just in time.
A small advice that I would like to give the readers who are ready to have an adventure in any place and anytime; the theme of this novel is, never give up, an adventure is your life.
Thank You
