Godt's POV

I glanced at my watch as I stepped out of my cabin. It was 5:55 in the late afternoon. In five minutes the dining hall doors were going to open for the cruise passengers.

I pressed the elevator service button when I reached the foyer.

When I got to the dining hall, the doors were still closed.

I saw the menu written on a white board stand just outside the dining hall doors.

CATCH OF THE DAY: herbed grilled salmon

I am a seafood lover. Grilled salmon is one of my all time favorite seafood dish so tonight's dinner was perfect for me.

At six on the dot, the dining hall doors opened. I was the first to walk in.

For appetizers I had a choice of mixed greens with a choice of Italian dressing or ranch dressing, or a mini bowl of lentil soup. I chose the mini bowl of lentil soup.

I paired the herbed grilled salmon with a cup of white jasmine rice.

I was tempted to take a long stemmed glass of white chardonnay but I rejected it for a tall glass of ice cold pomegranate juice. I wasn't much of an alcohol drinker anyway,

A few more cruise passengers trickled in as I settled at my table close to the entrance. I liked sitting by the entrance because I liked watching the people as they came in.

By the time I was halfway through my dinner, the dining hall was more than half full. Pretty soon all the tables would be occupied and the latecomers would have to fall in line to wait until a table was available for them.

I had skipped the very tempting calorie laden Rocky Road ice cream for dessert. I chose not to have any dessert at all. I had to watch my middle which I felt was getting a little rounder than I wanted it to be.

I tipped the waiter who had come to clear my table before I stepped out of the dining hall.

I decided to digest my dinner by walking out into the open deck for a stroll.

The deck was empty except for a couple who were making out in the dimly lit far corner of the open deck.

At first I thought it was a man and a woman because one of them had shoulder length straight hair, but when they stopped to look at me as I walked further into the deck, I noticed that the long haired one was also a man.

I ignored their stares as I walked straight toward the railing. I leaned against it, looking out into the sea. I felt the sea breeze blowing softly against my cheeks and against my hair, making some strands move slightly.

I stood there for a while, listening to the waves as they lapped against the side of the ship.

After a while, I got bored and decided to go to the cinemas to see if there were any movies worth watching.

I went back to the foyer and pressed the elevator service button. The cinemas were two floors higher from where I was.

As the elevator door opened, a slim young man who was just slightly shorter than I was limped painfully out of the elevator. He was bent a little, holding on to the thigh of his affected leg.

I moved forward and touched him lightly on his shoulder.

"May I help you?" I asked.

He smiled gratefully at me. I noticed right there and then that he was very good looking.

"I sprained my ankle and need to go to the infirmary to get it treated," he said, "I know it's on this floor but I'm not sure exactly which hallway to go through."

"Let me check the map," I said, walking to the wall where the ship's map had been posted.

"I know where it is," I said, "let me help you to get there."

"It's very kind of you," he said, smiling gratefully at me again. He had a really attractive smile.

"Here, put your arm around my waist and put your weight on me," I said, putting my arm around his waist to support him.

When we got to the corridor leading to the infirmary, I noticed that he was grimacing.

"You know what," I said, "I hope you don't mind but I would like to carry you to the infirmary. I think it would be easier and less painful for you."

I could see the indecision on his face.

"I really do not wish to put you to so much trouble," he said, almost in a whisper.

"It's no trouble at all," I said, scooping him in my arms and walking quickly towards the infirmary.

I set him down slowly outside the door of the infirmary to turn the door knob.

There was a receptionist in the small waiting area.

We were the only visitors.

"How may I help you, gentlemen?" she asked as we approached her.

"This guy has sprained his ankle," I told her. Then I turned to the young man whom I had just carried. We had both totally forgotten to introduce ourselves to each other.

"By the way, my name is Godt," I said extending my hand to him.

He took it saying, "And my name is Gun. Thank you so much for helping me."

The receptionist told us to take a seat and then went through a door. After a few minutes she came back out with the evening shift infirmary male nurse.

He greeted us with a friendly smile. He had a name badge clipped to his uniform pocket that said, Krist Perawat, RN

"Which one of you hurt his ankle?" he asked.

Gun raised his hand before standing up on his good foot.

"Come with me to the back," said Krist, putting his arm around Gun's waist.

"Can I come in with him?" I asked, not wanting to be left sitting in the waiting area with the receptionist who was noisily chewing on her bubble gum, popping it from time to time.

"Sure, no problem," said Krist, "is he your boyfriend?"

"No!" Gun exclaimed blushing a bright red.

I laughed, I was tempted to tease him by saying "not yet, but I was planning to pop the question this evening," however I could tell that he was a very shy, serious young man who blushed easily, so I decided to hold my tongue.

Just as we had passed by the receptionist desk to go through the door behind her, the infirmary entrance door burst open and a young man, a little shorter than the rest of us and who looked a few years younger than us as well, walked in, holding on to his left index finger which he had wrapped with a tissue but through which a small amount of blood was seeping through.

"I will be with him in a few minutes," Krist told the receptionist before continuing to walk Gun through the inner door.

He led us into a small cubicle where he made Gun sit on a chair by the wall.

He took out a bottle that was labeled "tincture of arnica". He then used a small pair of forceps to take out a cotton ball from a glass jar and then let a few drops of the tincture flow into the cotton ball.

In the meantime I had squatted beside Gun to slowly and carefully remove the shoe of his affected foot and then carefully removed his sock.

Then Krist dabbed the ankle which was a little reddish and very slightly swollen.

I noticed Gun grimacing as Krist dabbed a few times on the affected area.

I held Gun's hand and he gripped mine, his eyes closed tightly.

Krist then took out an ace bandage from one of the small cabinets and wrapped it carefully around Gun's ankle.

"Try to rest this foot and keep it elevated as much as you can," Krist advised Gun.

Gun nodded and Krist handed him a clear plastic bag with a white string into which Gun placed his sock and shoe.

"Where in this ship is your cabin located?" I asked Gun, intending to help him get there.

"I am in cabin 306," he informed me.

"That's just one door away from mine!" I exclaimed happily, "we are neighbors!"

I noticed him blushing again.

When we passed by the receptionist, I noticed that Gun was wincing as he accidentally put his weight on his bad foot.

I scooped him up without asking his permission.

I noticed the young man who had come in earlier with a bleeding finger. He was staring at us, particularly at Gun.

I wanted to smack his mouth when I heard him mutter under his breath, "Big baby."
