Chapter 102: An Unexpected Lover

A/N: The image above does not belong to me. It belongs to the person who uploaded it on the internet.

For those who don't know him, his name is Na Thanaboon. He was a supporting cast in Theory of Love and Dark Blue Kiss. I have decided to give a face to the captain of the cruise ship that carried all our lovely boys. So he will be Captain Na in this story.

I would like to acknowledge reader @staynew for giving me the idea for the contents of the part of this chapter involving Tee and Captain Na.

Third Person POV

Loud cheers and applause erupted when the last survivor climbed out of the carrier and stepped onto the open deck.

Everyone hugged and kissed everyone else in mutual relief and congratulations that they had managed to survive the ordeal on the island.

Mean turned to Plan.

"Will you be keeping in touch with me when we reach Bangkok?" Mean asked.

Mean sensed the hesitation in Plan's answer.

"Y... yes, I guess," Plan replied, but unable to look at Mean's face when he answered.

"Would you believe, we have not even exchanged contact numbers all this time," Mean remarked.

"Well, it's useless now, since we lost our phones during the storm," Plan said.

"If you know your contact number by heart, we could ask someone for a piece of paper and you could write it down for me," Mean persisted.

"Yes, I do," Plan replied, "I will give it to you when we reach Bangkok."

"Is that a promise?" Mean asked.

"Of course it is," Plan said with a smile.

Over on one side of the open deck, the ship's captain couldn't take his eyes off Tee. He kept asking himself if this was the right time to talk to Tee or if he should wait until they finally reached Bangkok.

He noted how Tee seemed to be very close to one of the passengers. He noticed how they were talking nonstop with each other. The captain decided to bide his time.

Suddenly there was an announcement on the ship's intercom.

The captain of the new ship that had rescued the survivors announced that all relatives of the passengers had been contacted by the management of the cruise line company and that they would be waiting to welcome back the passengers when they docked in Bangkok.

Cheers and applause erupted once more on the open deck.

Everyone was instructed to fall in line and wait for a staff to assign each passenger a cabin where they could stay until the ship reached Bangkok. It was estimated that the ship would not reach Bangkok until after three days.

Perth and Saint told the staff that they were willing to share one cabin. Godt and Bas did the same. So did Kimmon and Copter, and Pluem and Chimon, and Newwie and Tay.

White looked at Captain.

"No," said Captain, before White could ask his question.

"Yes," said White.

Captain shook his head.

"White, even if this is not the ship where you were an employee, this ship belongs to the same cruise line that you're working for," Captain tried to convince White out of his ideas, "you might still get in trouble if we stayed together in one cabin."

White felt very disappointed, but he realized that he and all the rest of the staff of the cruise ship that sunk were expected to stay in the employees' quarters until they docked in Bangkok.

"Promise to wait for me in your cabin when it's time to disembark," White pleaded with Captain.

"I promise," Captain declared, giving White's hand a firm squeeze.

As they moved closer to the front of the line, AJ turned to Art with a questioning look.

"No," said Art, before AJ could formulate his question.

AJ could only shake his head in disappointment.

Soon the three days went by and the ship's captain announced over the intercom that they were just an hour away before the passengers could disembark and meet up and be reunited with their very worried loved ones and relatives once more.

With a fast beating heart, Captain Na made his way to Tee's cabin.

Captain Na took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

Tee's eyes grew wide when he saw who was at the door. He was wondering whether he was in trouble or whether he was needed to do some medical service for someone.

"What can I do for you, sir?" Tee asked.

"First of all, please stop calling me 'sir', and second of all, are you not going to invite me into your cabin?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude," Tee said with an apologetic smile. He stepped aside to let the captain into his cabin.

Tee offered the chair beside his bed but the captain refused.

He stood close to the door and looked at Tee with a very serious expression.

"Tee," he began to say, "do you remember the time when you had to come to my cabin to treat my migraine?"

Tee tried hard to recall the event that the captain had mentioned. That was such a long time ago that he had already forgotten about it and it would have remained forgotten if the captain had not mentioned it.

"I vaguely remember," Tee confessed honestly.

"Yes, I'm sure it was something that you have forgotten, but in my case, I could never forget it. You know why?" the captain paused to give Tee a chance to answer.

Tee just gave him a blank look.

The captain took a deep breath.

"It was because you were the only one who had managed to totally relieve me of my pain that night," the captain said with a quiver in his voice, "all the other nurses who had come to attend to me whenever I had my migraine episodes only managed to dull the pain but not to totally erase it. I'm not even going to ask you what pain reliever you had given me that night. I'm sure you have forgotten what it was."

Tee continued to stand where he was and continued to give the captain a blank look. He did not know where the captain was steering his personal ship at this point.

When Tee remained silent, the captain decided that it was time for him to make his move.

He stepped up closer to Tee and placed one hand on Tee's shoulder.

"What I'm trying to say is... Tee, I have decided to resign from the company. As soon as we reach Bangkok, I plan to go into the company office and tender my resignation."

"And why is that?" Tee asked, wide eyed.

"Because I want to start courting you, and I won't be able to do that while I'm your captain."

"What?!?" Tee couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yes, I knew that it would come as a shock to you, but I have felt something for you for a very long time now. I have just not been able to show it to you because we are both employees of the same company."

"But... but you can't give up your job just because of me!" Tee protested.

"I won't be out of a job for long," the captain assured Tee, "I already know of another cruise liner that's looking to hire cruise captains. I plan to send in my resume even before I tender my resignation."

It was Tee's turn to take a deep breath.

"You don't have to give me an answer right away," the captain assured Tee, "I know that I have taken you by surprise."

"Shock would be a better word, I think," Tee interjected.

Tee still didn't know how he felt about the shocking confession that he had just received from the captain. He had never regarded the captain in a romantic way. He always only felt a respectable barrier between the captain and himself.

"Tee," this time the captain placed both hands on either side of Tee's face, "all I'm asking right now is, will you allow me to keep in touch with you once we part ways from here?"

"Yes, of course," Tee replied, but already his mind was racing towards his P'Tae who would be waiting for him at the front lobby when it was time for everyone to disembark from the ship.
