Among the Arabs, there was a person known as “Jahaa”. Many humorous anecdotes have been reported in his regard. A few of these have been mentioned below:
On one occasion, due to demolishing (some building), a huge heap of sand piled up at the house of Jahaa’s father. Jahaa’s father began to complain saying, “Now the neighbours will force me to clear this sand! It will take a lot of effort and this type of sand cannot even be used to make bricks! I don’t know what to do with this sand!” Jahaa piped up and said, “Can’t you understand a simple thing like this!” When his father asked him what it was, he replied, “You should dig some wells. Then you can dump your sand into those wells!”
Once, Jahaa bought some flour and hired a porter to transport it for him. However, the porter stole his flour and disappeared. A few days later, Jahaa spotted the porter, but then concealed himself and hid from him! When Jahaa was asked as to why he was hiding from the porter, he replied, “I fear that he will ask me to pay him the transport fee!”
Jahaa once went into the desert and buried his money. However, at the time of burying it, he took note of the location by using a cloud as a landmark!
When his father passed away, he was asked to buy the kafan for his father. He replied, “I am afraid that I might miss the Janaazah Salaah while I am gone to buy the kafan!”
