Terminology

🔹Bismillah (بِسْمِ الله): In the name of Allah or with the name of Allah(used when beginning something)

🔹 La iIaha illal Allah :(لَااِلهَ إِلَّا الله) There is no deity worthy of worship but Allah

🔹 Muhammad RasulAllah:(مُحَمّدُ رَسْوْلُ الله) Muhammad is the Messanger of Allah or Muhammad is Allah's Messenger

🔹Assalamu Alaikum (اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ): Peace be unto you.

(When a Muslim meets someone, we start by Assalamu Alaikum and its complete greeting is Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu meaning peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you from Allah)

🔹Walaikum Assalam ( وَعَلَيْكُمْ اَلسَّلَامُ): And upon you be peace.

(Reply to Assalamu Alaikum and full reply given is: Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu meaning peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you too from Allah)

🔹 Alhamdulillah (اَلْحَمْدُ لِله): Praise be to Allah.

(Usually used to thank Allah)

🔹SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ الله): Free(from imperfections) is Allah.

(Generally used to express amazement)

🔹 Ma'Sha'Allah (مَاشَاءَالله): Allah has willed it(Used when congratulating a person or when talking about some good quality of a person)

🔹 In Shaa Allah (إن شاء الله): If Allah wills it (Used when talking about any future event)

🔹 Allahu Akbar (الله أكبر): Allah is the Greatest (Generally used to express amazement/greatness of Allah (S.W.T) when coming across any of Allah's creations and mercies)

🔹Astaghfirullah (أسْتَغْفِرُ الله): O Allah Forgive Me or I ask Allah's forgiveness

🔹JazakAllah Khairan (جَزَاكَ الله): May Allah reward you with goodness. (Used to thank a person)

⚫Jazakillahu khairan/Khaira is said to females.

⚫JazakAllah khairan/Khaira to males. ⚫Jazakum Allahu Khairan/khaira is said to plural.

🔹 Wa Anta FA JazakAllah Khairan-

May Allah SWT reward you too with goodness

⚫ Wa Anti Fa Jazakillah khairan is said to females.

⚫Wa Anta FA JazakAllah khairan is said to males.

⚫Wa Antum Fa Jazakumullah Khairan is said to plural.

We can also say Wa'iyyaki or wa'iyyakum.

⚫Wa'iyyaki is to females

⚫Wa'iyyaak is to males

⚫Wa'iyyakum is to plural.

🔹 Barakallahu feek (بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيْك): May the blessings of Allah be upon you

⚫ Barakallahu feeki is said to females.

⚫ Barakallahu feek is said to males.

⚫ Barakallahu feekum is said to plural.

🔹A'uzubillah or Nauzubillah (أَعُوْذُ بِالله أَوْ نَعُوْذُبِالله): I seek refuge in Allah

🔹Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raa'jioon (إنَّا لله وَإنَّاإِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ): Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. (Usually used when someone dies or on hearing a loss or calamity)

🔹Subhanahu wa ta'ala (سبحانه و تعالي): Free from imperfection and exalted is He or The Most Glorified,The Most High.

(can be used when taking the name of Allah)

🔹Sallalhu 'alayhi wa sallam or (صلى الله عليه وسلم or ﷺ): May Allah honor Him and grant Him Peace (Used when mentioning the name of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)

🔹 'Alayhi salaam (A.S) (عَلْيْهِ السَّلَامُ): Upon him be peace.

[Used when mentioning the name of other prophets (peace be upon them all)]

🔹 Radhiallahu'anhu (R.A)(رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ): May Allah be pleased with them.

(Used when the name of any companions or wives of the prophet is mentioned)

🔹Hadith: compilation of sayings of the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S)

🔹 Haram: Things that are forbidden/unlawful in Islam.

🔹 Halal: Things which are allowed/lawful in Islam.

🔹 Types of Salah/Prayer/Namaz:

They are five obligatory prayers that we have to pray and they are;

⚫ Fajr

⚫ Dhuhr/Zuhr

⚫ Asr

⚫ Maghrib

⚫ Isha

🔹Tahajjud- It is a special prayer offered in one third of the night. It is not an obligatory prayer but helds a special position after them. Allah SWT love when a person get up at night to talk to him and they are many benefits of praying Tahajjud.

🔹Ramadan: A month in which we (muslims) keep fast for a month.

🔹Siyam/Saum/Roze: fast/fasting

🔹Eid-ul-Fitr: It is a festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

🔹Eid-ul-Adha: Another Muslim festival celebrated as a festival of sacrifice.
