'Abhi abhi toh aayi ho, bahar ban ke chayi ho,
Hawa zara mehek toh le, nazar zara behek toh le'
-Hum dono

"Yes?"
Came the voice of my hone wali biwi as soon as she picked up my call and I heaved a silent sigh.

The hushed voice of her making my throat constrict for some reason.

"Are you ready? I'm waiting outside your office."
There was silence for a beat too long at my reply and then came her voice again,

"You are here already? Can you come inside? Dad and Chachu are here, maybe you can meet them and then we can get going if that's okay?"

This girl and her hesitation to not ask too much when she should be demanding things from me right, left and centre will be the death of me.

"I'll be right there!"
I replied softly and a smile crept up my face at her excited okay as she ended the call. It was the next day, meaning the day of our official first date and I had come to pick Aradhya up for the same. The first and foremost rule is to be on time. Which I was and I was proud of that fact. Throwing a glance at the bouquet of blue tulips kept in the passenger seat that I had gotten for the stunning person inside, I parked my car and made my way in.

The first time ever I was stepping into this place my fiancé ruled, made me proud as hell. It wasn't something big like my company or even the architectural firm her family has, it was a two story building, nothing extravagant with handful of employees seen around but it was something she and her friends have built on their own, right from scratch and that made this hundred times better than anything that I or her father owns.

Much to my convenience, the lady behind the reception desk immediately stood up seeing me and told me the way to Aradhya's cabin which was on the second floor and thanking her, I made my way there. My guess is Aradhya informed her about my arrival. Walking up to the second floor, there where a few cubicles made, deprived of any employees at all. It was way past working hours anyways.

"Come in!"
I located Aradhya's cabin at the far end corner to my left and knocked instead of just barging inside, her voice in response made me straighten my shoulders and taking a deep breath as if I was going to see my school crush, finally opened the door, entering inside. My eyes clashed with her first thing upon entering and she at once stood up from her chair behind her desk. I just nodded at her in greeting, taking a once-over before smiling at Anil and Raghav uncle to acknowledge them and moving further in, I touched their feet's one by one.

They both were seated on the two visitors chair in the front of her desk but silently stood up with me, ushering me to sit on the couch placed in the corner of her cabin with them. They settled down and just as I was about to do the same, I saw Aradhya simply standing in front of us with her hands behind her back like an anxious kid. It made me shake my head with an insignificant smile.

"Here, take a seat!"
I exclaimed softly, pulling one of the chairs close to the couch and gesturing her with my eyes to sit which she did while giving me one of those looks that makes my heart beat so fucking fast. Once she was settled down, I finally took a seat myself on the couch. The appreciation reflecting from Anil uncle and Raghav uncle's eyes was putting me on the edge.

We started talking about things here and there, them asking about my family, their health, and everything that's there.

"How's office, beta?"
Raghav uncle asked and I blew out a deep breath.

"It's good. Actually a mess if I have to be honest!"
My words made them chuckle and I smiled as well. Aradhya a silent spectator till now. But I somehow changed the topic lest they question me further on it. We talked for a few more minutes before they stood up to go home saying they don't want to delay our plans unnecessarily. I hugged them both and walked with them till the door, Aradhya just beside me.

"Uncle, I will drop her back on time. Please don't worry!"
Holding Anil uncle's hand, I made a promise, kind of so as to not worry him. He smiled in response at me and casting a glance at his daughter who found the floor to be the most fascinating thing, he replied,

"I don't want her back on time, I want her back safe and I trust you with my daughter. So don't rush for anything and enjoy yourselves to the fullest!"
His words lifted off an invisible weight from my chest. His trust meant a lot to me and I wasn't planning to ruin it for anything. Patting my back and kissing their daughter's forehead, they finally bid bye.

I looked at the woman in front of me, like really looked at her and fuck if she wasn't hot in her plain black body hugging dress which reached below her knees, her nude pumps making her stand taller by a few inches but she still looked shorter against my 6 feet frame. Her lips painted a little pink and I was only glad she wasn't donning a red colour on her lush lips or else I wouldn't have been accountable of my actions.

"Ahhm,"
The clearing of her throat brought me out of my stupor to notice those two red blotches on her porcelain cheeks which only meant she caught me checking her out. Well, I wasn't guilty. At all.

"I'll just grab my things and we'll get going?"
I nodded at her words and she made her way to her desk to pack her things and shut down her laptop. My gaze momentarily drifting to her gorgeous back and I looked away the next instant. Fuck, I'll be glad if I pass this date without doing something I might regret later which seems difficult looking at my fiancé's curves which demanded attention every second.

"I'm ready, let's go!"
Wordlessly taking her tote bag from her hand into mine, I kept my other hand at the small of her back, ushering her to lead the way. And if she wanted to say something then she decided against it as she started walking with me right behind her. We walked down the stairs together in silence and reached the ground floor.

"Good night, Manohar uncle!"
Aradhya wished the middle aged guard who smiled up at her, beamed if I had to be specific and wished her the same. I could tell they shared a good bond. His gaze drifting to me in confusion but he knew better than to word it out. Just as I was about to open my mouth to tell I'll bring the car, she beat me, saying what was easily the most simple yet beautiful thing I've ever heard her say.

"Ye Ranveer hai, mere mangetar!"
She wrapped her hands around my arm, coming a bit close and I momentarily closed my eyes getting a whiff of her vanilla scent.

Ye sachi mere maut ka karan banegi!

The guard smiled at me this time and I did the same, nodding at him. I brought the car in front and rushed to the passenger side, opening the door for Aradhya who passed me an adorable smile in gratitude and moved to sit but stopped abruptly.

"These—these are for me?"
She asked pointing at the bouquet of blue tulips that was kept in the seat. Her voice unsure.

"I believe you are my date so of course it's for you!"
Her face split into a smile so bright, it could easily put the stars to shame. At this point I didn't care if I sounded cheesy. I want to give her all, and all is what she'll get.

"Thank you so much! I love it!"
She had an expression of aww on her face as she picked the bouquet with great care and there she stole my heart once again.

"I'm glad! Shall we get going? We are running a tad bit late as it is!"
Nodding, she quickly sat inside and I closed the door after her. Rounding the car, I took the driver's seat and wore the seatbelt. Aradhya doing the same. Turning the ignition on, I reversed the car, finally on the roads of Mumbai which was rather empty.

"How was your day?"
Aradhya initiated a conversation which made me smile instantly. I gave her a quick glance and she had the bouquet in her lap. Her eyes taking in the flowers as if she has seen such a thing for the first time, tugging a string of my heart in the process.

"Just the usual, back to back meetings and hell lot of paper work but I was excited for our meet so it was good. I considered this date my reward at the end of the day!"
My words made her look away from my face with a smile, her open hair hiding her red face affectively and she nodded.

"How was yours?"
She shrugged in response, her whole attention on caressing the petals of the flower as she replied,

"It was okay! We just have one formal event to organise in the coming days so it's going smooth!"
I nodded in knowing, keeping my eyes on the road.

"What does blue tulips represent by the way?"
She had her phone in her hand as she tried to click a picture of the bouquet. My lips curling up as I replied,

"That's for me to know and for you to find out!"
Aradhya gave me a weird look at my words and started doing something on her phone, probably searching the meaning behind the flowers but then something else caught her attention.

"Oh my god! kitkat! Can I have these if you don't mind?"
She waved the packet of chocolate which she might've found in the beverage holder, looking at me with her cutest face as if she needed some buttering for me to say yes and I sighed.

"You don't need my permission, Adhya! You can very well have the chocolate if you simply feel like it!"
With my eyes on road, I felt her nodding her head and she said.

"Yes, you are right I guess. I loveeee kitkat a lot. After bournvita, of course!"

I made a mental note of remembering those two details.

"You want some?"
I denied simply shaking my head and she was happy to have the chocolate all for herself. Is it too early to say that I'm falling for her already?

"Where are we going?"
Once she was done relishing her chocolate and keeping the bouquet in the back seat carefully, she finally gave me her attention but her question had me on the edge. I hadn't done anything extravagant. Hell, I don't even know if she'll like it or not, whatever I managed to do. With the little amount of time to arrange something and brainstorm a decent date, I don't know if it'll live up to her expectations. She didn't deserve half ass prepared date and anything mediocre and the nerve of me to do exactly that.

"Ranveer, come out of your head!"
I did what she said and looked back at her when she passed me an assuring smile.

"Whatever it is that you have planned, I'm sure I'll like it. Can you please stop stressing yourself over it and let me be surprised?"
God knows how she understood what was going on with me but it only made me reach for her hand and intertwine our fingers together. My smile reaching to my eyes when she tightened her nimble fingers around mine and kept our hand on her knees. My heart soaring in my chest.

"Am I dressed accordingly though?"
She was looking down her body as I took a quick glance of her myself.

Probably wouldn't like the actual thoughts going on inside my head so I better keep those to myself. Some other time maybe!

"I mean you did ask to dress casual but you didn't explain casual so I don't know if I'm underdressed or over—"

"You look perfect, cupcake!"
My words shut her up just like I expected it would and though her cheeks along with her ears and neck everything turned red, she didn't shy away this time. She tried throwing a smirk in my direction and jutting her chin up, said

"Are you trying to charm me, Mr Malik?"
Biting my lower lip to stop the damn smile that was threatening to appear, I shrugged declaring

"Pehle din se kar raha hu, apne notice aaj kiya hai!"
And the next second I chuckled as she smacked her small hand on my shoulder, all bravado leaving her body just like that.

"You aren't supposed to say things like these on your first date."
Aradhya tried rebuking, looking out of the window to avoid my eyes, her fingers unknowingly playing with mine.

"But you are my fiancé so I don't think that rule applies here. We aren't dating to figure where things would go. I know what importance you hold in my life and I won't ever shy away from voicing my feelings out to you."

"Ranveer, please don't!"
She all but cribbed like a child, leaving my hand and covering her scarlet face and I laughed throwing my head back at her antics.

"Okay, fine! I won't tease you, Adhya!"
I held her hand back, intertwining our fingers and just like that in less than a minute we reached our destination.

"Come,"
I opened the passenger door for Aradhya after getting down myself and she stepped down. Her brows furrowing in confusion upon assessing the tall building.

"Malik corporations?"
She questioned, a bit unsure and all I managed was a simple nod. Yes, I brought her to my office.

"You could've simply told me and I would've come on my own till here. You didn't had to do the hassle of picking me up anyways!"
As she kept speaking, my eyes drifted to take in her features. Big almond eyes, a sharp yet cute nose and the little dimple which appeared only on her left cheek when she smiled too big.

"I'll be doomed if I couldn't even do the bare minimum for my woman on our date like picking her up so that statement of yours is pointless, honestly!"
Tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear and standing close to her, I looked into her eyes and I stopped breathing seeing the look on her face. As if the world could be burning but only I mattered right now.

Where was this romantic bone 29 years of my life?

"Fuck, cupcake, stop looking at me with those eyes!"
I muttered clenching my jaw and cupping her face in a delicate grip when it looked like she wasn't planning to stop staring anytime soon. I dropped my head on her shoulder, my hands trapping her in between me and the car.

"What eyes?"
She whispered, her voice so fucking hoarse and unaware , it forced me to imagine things I didn't had any right to imagine.

"Might as well kill me while you are at it!"
Groaning, I dipped my face just a slight bit into her neck and that seem to do it for her as her hands came around me, fisting the fabric of my shirt in her hands at my back.

"Ranveer?"
She called me out a while later, still in the same voice and I hummed from my position on her shoulder. Her body trembled as she said

"You might want to take me inside?"
That made me straighten up at once. Correct, we had a reason to be here. The date.

I nodded, clearing my throat and signalled her to start walking and she did but only after she took the bouquet from the backseat and I drew out a breath. I possibly couldn't be jealous of some non living flowers which I gave her myself, right? Right!

We took the private elevator to the top floor where I had made the set up. I had my hand linked with hers as I waited with bated breaths for her reaction and when she didn't say a word for a long time, I knew I was canceled. It was only fair since she clearly deserved something way better than this—

"Oh my god, this—this is so freaking beautiful!"

Wait, was I hallucinating?

"This is—I have no words!"
My eyes couldn't keep up with magnificent view as I tried taking everything in. The set up, the panorama, the sky line. Everything was perfect. At least to me it was and that's what mattered right?

"You mean that? I mean this isn't the best, you deserved something more grand than this but with office work and limited time in hand, I only managed to pull this off and—"

"Shhh, quiet!"
I stopped his rambling at once, my one hand going around his neck while the other still had my bouquet. His arms finding their way to my waist almost instinctively.

"This means a lot more to me than any other mundane dinner we would've had at some fancy dancy big restaurant!"
Every word that left my mouth, I meant it. This felt meaningful, personal. Something only we would share and treasure and that was a big deal to me. The whole purpose of this date was to get to know it each other and get comfortable together and it could only be served in a place like this.

There was a table setting in the middle of the large terrace, decorated elegantly, not too loud yet perfect with a candle, lit inside a see through glass. The big skyscrapers surrounding us adding to the charm of Mumbai's night life and cherry on the cake was the damn sea view. I didn't even knew marine drive could look this pretty from so up here. We could easily be above 30 floors to say the least.

"Come, let's settle down!"
Ranveer gestured towards the table and we made our way there. My face turning red for the nth time today as he pulled the chair for me and made me sit down, taking his next in front of me.

Chivalry isn't dead, guys! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

He did something on his phone and not even a minute later a man came up to us holding something. Wine? Okayyy.

I guess someone is finally getting wined, dined and wooed!

Oh, say hello to ms subconscious! Or don't.

"I hope you like red wine?"
Ranveer asked once he dismissed the person, instructing them to bring the food in half an hour.

"I do like it but I won't be able to drink more than one glass. My alcohol tolerance is laughable to say the least."
He simply smiled that barely there smile of his and forwarded one glass filled with wine to me, raising his own to cheers and we did, taking a sip at the same time.

"I will keep that in mind just in case!"
That was his attempt at teasing me and I all but rolled my eyes, the smile constantly present on my face. Even in his most relaxed form with just a dark blue coloured shirt with sleeves rolled up and charcoal black slacks, he was dressed to break hearts. His hair messed up in a very appealing way. He oozed male dominance and the way his lazy eyes kept taking me in made me clench my thighs together.

Horny? No, horrible!

"So did you find the dress you'd wear on our engagement?"
I nodded, clearing my throat and replied

"Yes, I went to shop for it with the ladies in the afternoon. I think I found a really gorgeous lehenga for myself!"

"Show me? I'm sure you would've clicked a picture or two?"
His words which was dripping with eagerness made me smile cheekily.

"Let that be a surprise for you, shall we?"
He didn't retaliate but made sure I knew he wasn't pleased with his expression. I just happily took a sip of my delicious wine making him do the same.

"Okay so since we are hear to know each other more better, why don't we start off with asking basic questions and then diving to more serious topics?"
Ranveer proposed and I was happy to oblige so the next half an hour or so we were asking one another basic questions, likes, dislikes, hobbies, dreams, movies, music, food, places to travel, work and dozen other things. Random but not really.

"I hope you like Italian?"
Ranveer took a pause from our 'getting to know' session when the same man from before came with what I assume was our dinner.

"I could sell my soul for Italian!"
My mouth watered as I replied just imagining about the delicious cuisine and I couldn't be more grateful to him for choosing that exact same thing.

Bonus points for that!

He dismissed the man again before he could serve us and did that himself. He rolled up some pasta, serving me first and then did same for himself. And he ruined me for any other man just like that.

"Define yourself in three words?"
The thought popped up my mind randomly as we were having our dinner in silence if we ignored his constant need to ask me if I was okay or needed something. I expected some sort of awkwardness to linger in the air as we were still kind of strangers to each other but there was none, much to my happiness. Ranveer looked amused at that as he took a sip of his wine, his third glass for the night. Yes, I counted.

"Interesting question!"
I only shrugged at his remark, his eyes firmly settled on me and I made a weak effort at stuffing my face with the creamy pasta.

"Disciplined, straightforward and hard headed for the most part!"
His answer made sense and we couldn't be more opposite this way. I was clumsy, I never shared my thoughts lest I hurt the other person and I was the last person to lose her cool for the most part.

"You mentioned having anger issues on our first meeting, define your anger to me?"
My memory going back to the day I met this gorgeous man for the first time.

"It mostly surfaces when I don't have control over things around me. Yes, I'm one of those guy who have to have some sort of charge to feel good about themselves but I know where to draw the line. I also get angry when there's my family that's concerned and everyone who deals with me knows that they are not to be messed with-"

He took a pause as we kept looking at each other silently, anything else cease to exist.

"I prefer staying alone when I'm angry because I might burst upon someone who clearly doesn't deserve that behaviour. My shortcoming shouldn't be something my close people pay for!"

Did I say Ranveer was a gem of a person? Maybe I did but I'll say again that he's the most amazing guy ever and I'm only lucky to have him.

"You are giving me those eyes again, cupcake!"
He whispered in a strained voice which made me look away from him immediately. The endearment making me feel tingles all over. I clear my throat fidgeting with my fingers under the table.

"I think I'm full!"
Ranveer looked at my still full plate but didn't said anything. He simply rolled some pasta onto his fork and forwarded it to me.

"Have this last bite then!"
As if my body had a mind of it's own, I moved a bit close, opening my lips and he made me eat himself. I don't know if it was the intimacy of eating from his fork or his thumb that wiped at the bottom of my lips that made me tremble in my seat. And he very well noticed it with his intense eyes.

"Can I see your cabin?"
That was me requesting once I was sure he was done eating and I had a picture clicked of the set up in my phone, mentally making a note to post on my story once I go home.

Ranveer simply wiped his hands on the napkin and standing up, forwarded his hand for me to take. My lips stretched into a big smile as I held it standing on my feet and we started making our way back in the office when I remembered something.

My flowers!

"Wait!"
I legit shouted, abruptly making him turn with confusion and worry. Removing my hand from his hold, I moved picking up the flowers that was kept on the table and made my way back to Ranveer who looked pissed if I was correct.

"The way you are making me jealous of some flowers, it's insane!"
Not giving heeds to his words, I pulled him with me and he brought me to his cabin which was on the 20th floor.

"This. Is. Insane!"
My jaw dropped to the floor as I took in the space. The large floor to ceiling glass window behind his desk robbed my heart and my feet automatically took me there. A silent sigh leaving my lips at the moving city life in front of me. The cabin, all of it smelled so much like him. Like books and to be specific that old, earthy book fragrance. It was also very very clean. Not even a pen out of place.

"Did you like it?"
I looked up at Ranveer as he stood beside him and I smiled in response with a nod.

"I loved it. Specially this view! It's so beautiful!"

"That it is!"
I had a doubt if he was talking about the view cuz I could feel him looking at me from the corner of my eyes and as cheesy that was, it did make my heart skip a beat or two.

"How is your relationship with your siblings?"
Just so I don't melt into a puddle under his heated gaze, I threw that question to him and he promptly replied,

"Myru, she is a spoilt brat if that wasn't obvious already. Having being born after bhai and me, dad was naturally more inclined towards her and he loves her way too much. And she's also bhai's favourite so having two of the strongest member in her team, she literally has us all wrapped around her finger to get whatever she wants!"

We chuckled together at that. Myra's face flashing in front of my eyes and I wish I could give her a tight hug. The girl was just the perfect amount of sweet and mischievous.

"We don't fight a lot like most siblings but when we do, we don't talk for days straight!"

"No way?"
It was really hard for me to believe that but Ranveer just chuckled, nodding.

"It's also because we function the same way. We are both hard headed. Both of us think we know better than anyone and we are both equally opinionated so that comes in between. Of course she later comes around only after she spends a lot of my money on some good shopping spree."
Even though he was almost complaining about his sister, his expressions told me he'd never have it any other way. He took hold of my hand again and he seemed to do that a lot lately. Not complaining though.

"With Reyansh bhai, we don't have a lot of age gap between us, he's just two years older than me so we are really more like best friends and confidants but he never misses a good opportunity to remind me that he's the elder one between us!"
A giggle escaped my lips at the frown on Ranveer's face as he completed his words.

"Do I even have to say what kind of relationship Aarav bhai and I have?"
He chuckled , shaking his head and I smiled looking ahead at the view. Aarav bhai could trade his life if it's me on the other side and that's not hidden from the people who know our bond.

"So?"
My head turned back to look at Ranveer with confusion at his words seeing which he elaborated,

"How was the date?"
This guy planned something so beautiful and significant for us, for me and he still has doubts if I liked it or not. Gathering all the courage that I could, I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck, his hands going around my waist on cue.

"It was everything I could have ever asked for, Ranveer. Thank you so much!"
His warm breath hit my face as he sighed at my words. His head bowed down to adjust to my height even after wearing my heels.

"You aren't just saying that for the sake of it, are you?"
I gulped at our proximity, his rough voice, and the heat of his hands seeping through the layer of my dress but composing myself tried forming a sentence.

"I'm not very generous with my compliments, Mr Malik! So if I am actually giving one than trust me I really mean it!"
I hope I appeared confident with my words as he smirked, his eyes lingering tentatively on my face. Studying me at every gaze.

"Noted, Ms Sharma!"
My cheeks turning the deepest shade of red at his teasing reply as I ducked my head, breaking eye contact and fiddling with the collar of his shirt.

"And the flowers, thanks a lot for that as well! Nobody has ever done that for me before."
His eyebrows rose in what I believe is surprise at my statement. Lifting my chin up so that I looked nowhere else but him, he whispered

"Why is it hard to believe that nobody has ever given you flowers?"
I shrugged not knowing what to reply to that. It wasn't a hidden fact that my dating life was as non existent as it could get.

"If you don't consider the one's I've received platonically then I really haven't!"
I replied and for a really long time there was no exchange of words as Ranveer just kept looking at me with those intense eyes of his and try as I might but I couldn't look away myself.

"Cupcake, if I give you something else right now and if you feel it's right then will you accept it please?"

There was just something about this man who ruled an empire and would get anything at the snap of his finger being so unsure if I'll even accept whatever he's got for me was such a weirdly good feeling. I just don't know if ill be able to describe it properly. Coming out of my thoughts, I nodded my head, clearly at loss of words but the next moment a gasp left my mouth as he magically produced a box, a jewellery box to be exact in which sat the most beautiful necklace I've ever seen. It was a simple gold chain with a single diamond pendant in a round shape shining brightly at me. Nothing extravagant but just simply stunning.

"I—Ranveer—this is—this is so pretty!"
Excuse me for my stuttering but in my defence, I was speechless to say anything at all.

"I got this yesterday itself. It just reminded me of you. It's elegant, it's beautiful and we all know that diamonds are the strongest gem in the world. And elegant, beautiful and strong are the three words I'd use to define you so I had to get this for you!"

The words were on my lips. The acceptance that even I've started liking him back because only a fool would not like this man. The man who brought me flowers, and opened car doors and pulled chairs and served pasta and fed me the last bite and respects my family and respects me a lot more. He didn't just bought a jewellery piece for the sake of it, he bought it because it reminded him of me. At the end of the day all a man has to do is be his genuine self and do the bare minimum, right?

But maybe I was sure a fool to not say that I like him. A lot. Or the heavy lump in my throat was the reason for it. But before I could give a response, Ranveer asked in an unsure voice,

"May I?"
He gestured to the box where the necklace still lay untouched and wordlessly, I turned, my back facing his front, silently giving him the signal to go ahead. My heart hammering in my chest as he gathered all my hair in his hand and placed them on my left shoulder, my eyes closing the moment I feel his fingers touching my skin.

The moment was too long yet too quick as one second he draped the chain around my neck and the next second, he clasped the lock. His hand nowhere on me and the lack of touch made me turn around. We were still very close considering my front was touching his. Our breathings equally heavy and synchronised.

"Ranveer?"
I don't know what I was doing, taking his name is a voice that sounded borderline desperate even to my own ears but he just hummed that stupid hum of his that travels straight to my core, his finger somehow now tracing the necklace around my neck with unreadable eyes. The pulse around my neck going frantic at his tantalising touch just there.

"Adhya?"
Babaji, a 24 years old celibate girl can take only this much.

Breathing through my mouth, I looked up in Ranveer's dark gaze at his growling voice. Clearly he was just as much affected as I was of this whole thing. He clenched his jaw, nostrils flaring almost looking like he was angry as he wrapped a hand around my neck, my face moving closer to his in reflex and my hands landing on his broad chest.

"What are the chances of you slapping me if I kissed you right here, right now?"

Not a chance. Nope! Nada. Zero. Not even if I'm going to hell after this.

"Glad to know that we are on the same page!"
Even before I could process the blunder that I did my speaking my thoughts out loud or  comprehend Ranveer's words, I felt his scorching hot lips at the corner of my mouth, shutting me up effectively.

Oh, god! Is it really happening?
