A/n: More than five thousands words so I hope the delay is compensated 🥺
"Aru, will you fucking stop staring at those flowers like a lunatic and come here?"
I flinched at my spot at the loud voice and guess who it was. YES, KAIRA KAMINI KHANNA.
"Kaira, language!"
My Chachi dearest reprimanded her like she rightly deserves but would that do any good? No. Kaira gasped at Chachi like the dramatic bitch she is and said
"Seriously, aunty? She's been staring at those lifeless flowers from past half an hour. From the moment her pati parmeshvar has sent it and she is not ready to acknowledge our presence but you're scolding me?"
Chachi looked at me with a small smile on her face making me look down with redness creeping up my cheeks.
Why am I friends with Kaira, again?
"Not everyone's allergic to love and affectionate gestures, babe!"
Preet gave an indirect taunt to Kaira and the girl just rolled her eyes, showing her tongue because that's really a mature thing to do.
"Yeah whatever! It's her engagement that's taking place tomorrow. If she's done cooing the damn flowers than ask her which decoration idea she wants to go with. I sent her three reference pictures yesterday and ma'am is yet to reply!"
She talked as if I wasn't standing right there which again is one of her dramatic traits.
"I liked the second option so we can go with that, PREET!"
I purposely took Preet's name, actually screamed it because was I any less dramatic? Nah!
"It's still beyond my understanding how a sweetheart like Preet got you two devils as her best friend! Poor girl deserves so much better!"
My and Kaira's jaw touched the ground at chachi's comment while Preet simply shook her head with a smile like the goody two shoes that she was but then this wasn't the first time my Chachi passed her unpopular opinion so it wasn't a big deal. Kaira however started giving her two cents, getting into a debate with Chachi dearest while I sipped my now cold bournvita happily.
Tomorrow was the D day. It's my engagement tomorrow and the only thing keeping me sane was the fact that it wasn't going to be anything big. The event was supposed to take place in our back garden and it will be a really really intimate affair and I was all in for it. There was a lot of hustle bustle at home but it also wasn't anything crazy because we don't have too many relatives to invite. My paternal grandparents passed away even before I was born while distant acquaintances were better off where they were. And we weren't close with my mom's side of family. Ma was a single child and she wasn't close with any of her cousins as well. Nana and nani left us a few years back.
I rubbed a hand over the left side of my chest to ease out the building ache I felt there and took deep breaths. Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.
One thing I wasn't really looking forward to was facing my chachi's side of relatives. Chachi had an older sister who she was close with and she was invited with her family for the engagement. They'll be coming here tomorrow itself from Chandigarh where they reside. And let me tell you, as sweet as my Chachi is, her sister and her sister's daughter were a literal pain in the ass. Hell! I don't want to think about that right now.
"I strongly believe that Preet might've kept some sola somvar ke vrat that she got a best friend like me!"
Kaira's senseless statement pulled me out of my thoughts and I legit snorted listening her. Chachi looked as if she gives up while Preet didn't even glance at the not so poor girl.
"Babe, should we lock in the decoration idea you selected? I'll have to get the team started with preparations if it's final?"
Preet asked, looking up at me from whatever she was doing on her iPad.
Since my engagement was a close affair, Preet and Kaira unofficially took the responsibility to look after everything so our company was the one behind making my day special and I couldn't have asked for more.
"Yes, I liked that theme and Ranveer gave a thumbs up as well so you can go ahead with it!"
As soon as his name left my lips, the three women started wiggling their eyebrows at me and I rolled my eyes in an over exaggerated manner. We'll not talk about the redness of my cheeks now because it's become as common as breathing for me at this point.
"Guys, grow up!"
I exclaimed, sipping my drink and looking anywhere but at them.
"Sureeeee!"
The three of them stretched the 'sure' in an over dramatic manner because apparently no one was sane in this house. Stomping my foot, I stood up from the couch I was occupying like a penguin and taking the glass of my drink in one hand and my blue tulips in the other, I started making my way upstairs. My so called best friends and Chachi laughing at my petulant behaviour.
Coming in my room, I placed the flowers carefully in the vase kept on the side table, removing the old ones and kept staring at them for a while. After our first date, Ranveer makes sure that he sends this specific blue tulips everyday without fail no matter where I am. There's always a little bar of kitkat attached to the bouquet as well but that's missing this time. And I'm very upset about that.
The very moment my phone chimes with a notification of a message and I hop on the bed face down to see who it was and my lips stretched into the biggest smile ever seeing the name. No points for guessing who it was.
Ranveer: Did you get the flowers?
Me: Yessss! I did. Thank you so much, Ranveer!🥹
Ranveer: I'll stop sending them if you'll say thanks every time, cupcake!
I bit my lower lip reading his message because I couldn't tell if he was just playing around or actually serious. And why couldn't he simply use some emojis? People who don't use emojis while chatting honestly scare the hell out of me. Please tell I'm not the only one?
Ranveer: Cupcake?
I shook my head, my heart fluttering at the endearment and I sent my reply,
Me: Yes?
Ranveer: You know I was joking, right? I'd never stop sending those even if you told me to!
No one will tell him that he robbed my soul by simply saying that. I repeat no one. Composing myself and fanning my heated face, I changed the topic,
Me: Woh sab thik hai but don't you think that you missed an important thing?🙄
Ranveer: And what would that be, Ms Sharma?
The audacity of this man to act nonchalant when he knows what I'm talking about.
Me: My kitkat, Ranveer! Where's that?🔪
Oops! Maybe I overdid it with the knife emoji but I simply shrugged because it's done now. He saw my text but didn't reply while I anxiously waited for one biting my nails in the process.
Did I actually went overboard? But I hardly did anything? My phone rang with an incoming call and I almost threw it away, scared. Looking at the name on screen, I took deep breaths and mumbled a few incoherent words before picking up the call.
"Hey, there!"
I closed my eyes at his baritone voice which for some reason was sounding even more sexy over the phone. My breaths coming out laboured as I gathered myself and cleared my throat to reply and reply like a normal girl. Not like some teenage girl talking to her crush for the first time.
"Hii!"
My tone was normal, stable and I was glad about it.
"There's a surprise for you!"
And all the sharam, laaj and lajja left my body that very moment.
"Kya hai? Kya hai?"
(What is it? Tell me)
I wasn't even ashamed that I almost screeched like a hyena after hearing his words. God bless his eardrums but could you blame me?
"Aruuuuu? Tere liye kuch aaya hai?"
(Something has come for you)
Before Ranveer could reply, I heard Kaira screaming her lungs out from downstairs.
"Go! That would be your surprise, Adu!"
I didn't do any kind of vrat for this man but whoever wrote him in my destiny, I'm forever grateful to them. Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry!
Let the man know about it then- subconscious
If anyone missed my inner voice, there you go!
"Don't cut the call!"
I spoke, already running downstairs with the phone still to my ear and Ranveer simply chuckled, being on line.
"It's mineeeee!"
Snatching the box from chachi's hand who took it from the helper, I screamed while she glared at me but chose to keep quiet. There were two boxes, looked like gift boxes to be exact. One was smaller than the other. I took my seat between Preet and Kaira who stuck to me like bees to honey and Chachi was standing, equally curious to know what was happening.
"Ranveer ne bheja hai?"
(Ranveer has sent it)
Chachi asked to which I wordlessly nodded trying to figure out what it could be. The two madhumakhiyan trying to sneak it from me but I swatted their hands away.
"Did you open it?"
Ranveer asked from the other side. I almost forgot we were still on call.
"I'm trying to!"
I replied.
"Maa made chocolates for you which you used to like when you were small and that's what they are. Isiliye apko kitkat nahi mila!"
(That's why you didn't get your kitkat)
He elaborated but I couldn't get past the fact that choti ma made this for me.
If I thought that only this man was robbing my heart away, I was wrong because his mom had my soul already! Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry!
Why the hell am I feeling so emotional today?
"The—-"
Ranveer was saying something but I cut the call and dialled his mother. The three women in front of me not so patiently waited for me to get over whatever I was doing.
"Choti ma?"
I spoke as soon as she picked up the call not able to contain my happiness.
"Hi, Aru! How are you, bete?"
Her chirpy voice made want to give her a tight hug.
"You made chocolates for me!"
She laughed at my statement whereas my fingers kept caressing the box in my hand.
"Yes, I did! I know how much you like chocolates and how much you used to love the ones I made while you were small. So I thought to give a small surprise!"
Tell this women to stop because my heart can't take so much love. I know for some this might not be a big gesture but for a girl who was called an inconvenience at a very young age, who wasn't received much love from anyone apart from her family, trust me it's a really really big thing.
"I love you so much, choti ma!"
I whispered, gulping a lump in my throat.
"I love you more, Aru! More than that good for nothing son of mine but don't tell his jealous ass that!"
A laugh left my lips at her reply. Praying that Ranveer and her relationship stays the same.
"But that good for nothing son also told me that you like kitkats a lot!"
And that ladies and gentlemen was my cue to blush. Choti ma continued in her teasing tone,
"The small box is especially for you. They have kitkat flavoured chocolates in there!"
Beta ne toh dil liya hi hai aur ab maa bhi?
How can I not cry right now?
Talking to her for a few more minutes, I ended the call, taking a deep breath. Chachi, Preet and Kaira looking nowhere else just me and I knew I had to explain what was happening so next few minutes went in that.
"Damn! These chocolates are really really good!"
Preet exclaimed with her mouth fully stuffed, eating the chocolate I gave to the three them.
"I know, rightttt? Aru, woh wale mein se bhi ek de?"
(Give me from that one)
Kaira pointed to the smaller box which was specifically sent for me and I hid it away in my arms from her lalchi eyes.
"I gave you more than you deserve, bitch—-bichu! Get lost now!"
I changed my words because Chachi ka khauf.
"Aunty, did you hear what she called me?"
Kaira gasped, giving me stinky eyes but my Chachi royally ignored our stupidity, focusing on her mele mein khoyi hui daughter, Preet.
"Preet, I want to buy some things for tomorrow. Choti moti chizen leni baaki hai. Will you join me?"
And her muh boli beti was ready on one leg to abide by her words so the two of them left to get whatever work it was that Chachi wanted to get done with. After that it was just me and Kaira until she got a call from one of the vendors and something required her presence so she left as well.
There was literally no one home. Like dad was in his room and I didn't bother him and bhai and Chachu were out for some work as well.
Sitting alone, I finished few of my chocolates, devouring it to be specific and it really was so freaking tasty. I couldn't explain in words but it was heaven. In between stuffing my mouth with so much sugar, I remembered the stunt I pulled with Ranveer where I ended his call mid sentence just because I was way too eager to talk to choti ma.
Was there any end to my stupidity? I don't think so.
Not having the guts to call him now, I made a mental note to apologise later on to him and went upstairs in my room. Glancing at my bed , I felt like taking a nap but I decided against it because first I had to clean up my room with the way it was so untidy and cluttered. At times I think I could literally be anything I want but cleanliness is not something I can ever achieve. Creating havoc wherever I go is in my blood. So for the next thirty five minutes or so I got engaged in deep cleaning my room because it's either that or no cleaning at all.
Done with that, I hopped into the shower and took a nice warm bath, changing into my comfiest pair of pajama set since it was almost evening already and I had nowhere to go
anyways.
"Aradhya beta!"
Kiran aunty, our house help threw my door open and stood there panting while I was doing my skin care in front of my vanity.
"Kya ho gaya, aunty? What's wrong?"
Lathering some lotion onto my arms, I asked her with confusion.
"Woh—Anil sir—"
She was stammering like anything to form a coherent sentence.
"Aapne phir unki files misplace kar di? Aunty, kitni baar kaha hai unse puch ke studies ki safai kara kariye aap!"
(Did you misplaced his files again? How many times have I told you to ask him before going to clean in there)
The number of times she's lost some of the most important documents of dad and has came running to me or other members of the family, it's insane.
"Nahi—woh! Beta, he—he's—"
(No)
"Kiran aunty, relax! First of all take a deep breath and then say what you want to!"
Seeing her hyperventilating, I grew up anxious and made my way to her, taking her hands in mine.
"Anil—Anil sir, he fell unconscious!"
My hand left hers, falling by my side as I went numb on my place.
"I—was passing from the corridor when—he came out of his room. He hardly took a few steps ahead before—he—"
I can't breath. No, this is not happening right now. Nothing's happened to dad. He is fine. He has to be fine.
"Aradhya beta, come with me!"
I wasn't in my senses when Kiran aunty held my arm in her grip, pulling me with her to god knows where but the moment my eyes fell on my dad's figure which was lying unconscious, in front of his room was the moment a tear left my eye.
"D—dad!"
A broken whisper left past my lips seeing his state and I didn't know what to do. I was standing idiotically with my hands shivering and heart beating fast out of pure fear.
"Aradhya? Beta, why are you standing there? Call someone? Call the doctor!"
I flinched at Kiran aunty's loud voice.
I can't fall weak right now. My father needs me and I can't let my fears consume me at this moment.
Gathering enough courage, my legs took me close to my dad and I knelt down, taking his cold hand into mine.
"Nothing will happen to him. He'll—he'll be fine. Aap log please inhe room mein leke chaliye!"
(Please take him inside)
I requested to the other helpers and two of the men carried him and settled him on his bed. God, what do I do? I've only ever felt this helpless when I lost mom and I don't want to feel this way at all.
"I'm—I'm going to call the doctor first and inform bhai and everyone as well! Please stay with him!"
Saying so, I ran back to my room where my phone was and with shivering hands, dialled our family doctor's number, filling him in with the needed details and requesting him to come home as soon as possible. Next I called my brother.
"What do you need? Aru, if you've called me to bring you any of those junk food then I—"
"Bhai!"
I all but sobbed, stopping him midway as I couldn't control anymore.
"Aru? Beta, what happened? Why are you crying?"
And I just couldn't give a reply as tears blinded my eyes which I kept wiping off.
"You're scaring me, Aru! Tu thik hai, bacha?"
(Are you okay)
Came bhai's panicked voice and it made me take a deep breath and gather myself as I hiccuped silently.
"Bhai?"
"Yes, Aru I'm here! I'm right here, ! What happened?"
He replied trying to calm me down. I gulped the huge lump in my throat before saying,
"Bhai—dad—he is not—not responding!"
"Not responding? What do you mean not responding? Is he fine?"
Wiping my tears, I nodded in no even though he couldn't see me.
"He—fell unconscious and I don't know what to do. I'm so scared, bhai! I—can't see him like this. Aap please ghar aa jao, please!"
(Please come home)
The ache in my heart was gradually increasing. There was complete silence for a moment before he spoke up again.
"Okay! Calm down, bache! Did you call the doctor?"
"Yes, I did!"
I replied in a small voice. The image of dad's still body passing through my mind and my eyes filled up on their own.
"Okay, stay with bade papa till the doctor's there. We'll also be home in five minutes, I promise. Okay?"
Nodding without a word, I ended the call and ran back to dad who still hasn't opened his and given me one of his precious smiles.
"This is the sole reason why I'm so strict with his health and diet. But the audacity of this man to still pull this stupid stunt on us!"
Shalini aunty exclaimed, disappointment dripping from her tone while Anil uncle passed her an apologetic smile but she simply wasn't buying it.
"This is really not done, Anil! You should've taken care of yourself!"
My dad said and mom nodded her head in agreement. My eyes drifted for the nth time towards Aradhya but the woman didn't even acknowledge my presence from the moment I've entered in the room.
I could feel all of our progress going down the drain.
I had called Aradhya like a usually do when I know we both would've been done with our dinner to talk about our day but today surprisingly Aarav picked up the call, filling us on what happened and we were here immediately. The doctor who checked him up said the reason of his unconsciousness was low BP and weakness.
"There was just too much going on. With office and with the engagement taking place that I just—"
"I'd rather not marry than see you in this condition so stop giving excuses, dad!"
Ouch! Why did I receive the lowest of blows?
Aradhya left her father's hand and stormed out of the room with Preet, Kaira and my sister following her steps.
"I'm sorry for her behaviour! She's just a bit shaken seeing me like that. She's really sensitive when it comes to people she loves. Please forgive her!"
He was about to join his hands but I held them in my own palms. I shook my head, saying
"You're like my own father, uncle! And a father never joins hand in front of his son!"
"Exactly! And as far as Aradhya is concerned, we understand, Anil! You don't have to justify anything!"
Anil uncle smiled at dad, patting my head and they got engaged in small conversations. My gaze often drifted to the door expecting her to come back and look at me once but of course that didn't happen.
"You can go meet her!"
Aarav spoke only for my ears as he came standing beside me. I clenched my jaw and replied
"I don't think she wants to see me right now!"
"She starts running away when she thinks she's getting too attached to someone and that's exactly what she's doing right now. Not a lot of people have held onto her when she needed to be held the most, Ranveer!"
I don't know what was his purpose to say that to me but I think it got fulfilled because the very next moment I made my way out of that room because no way in hell was I leaving her right now. When I said I wanted all of her, I meant the ugly parts as well. Specially that ones.
"Can I talk to her for a minute?"
I entered inside her room after knocking once. Aradhya was sitting on her bed with the other three girls surrounding her and they simply nodded, leaving the room and the two of us alone. Aradhya still didn't looked at me and made her way to the balcony while I sighed. Leaving the bedroom door slightly ajar, I too went to the balcony standing beside her with good distance.
"Are you fine?"
My voice was soft as I looked at her. She mustered up a fake smile as she nodded at me wordlessly and then looked away, staring ahead into space. Her big eyes were red and swollen, clearly giving away how much she has cried in the past few hours. My heart hurting for her pain.
"I want to take you somewhere!"
I exclaimed after a minute of complete silence and she looked back at me again. Her brows pulled up together.
"Ranveer, I don't really feel like—"
"Please!"
My one word shut all her complaints and that almost made me smile like a fool but I held myself together.
"Give me a minute! I'll change and come."
She turned to go but I held her wrist, stopping her movements.
"That won't be necessary. Just take a scarf or something. You might feel cold!"
She opened her mouth to argue but closed it the next second and just nodded. We left her room together with her scarf and phone, making our way downstairs. Everyone was settled in the living room except Shalini aunty and Raghav uncle.
"I want to take her somewhere. We'll be back in a while!"
Mom and dad nodded at my words and Aarav made his way to us, kissing his sister's forehead.
"He's fine now, Aru! Mom dad are with him and we're all here so don't worry. We'll call you if required!"
She nodded hugging him. Bidding everyone bye, we left her house and I opened the door of my car for her. She sat inside on the passenger seat and wore her seatbelt all so monotonously that I was desperate to have my old Adhya back. Rounding the car, I sat behind the wheels and turned on the ignition.
"Adhya!"
I called her when she kept looking out of the window and once she had her gaze on me, I held my palm open silently asking for her hand. Just when I thought she'll not hold my hand, she surprised me by intertwining our fingers and keeping our hands on her knees. We didn't talk for the whole ride and I let her dwell in her thoughts for the time being.
Reaching our destination, I parked the car and getting down, opened the door for her.
"Yaha?"
(Here)
She uttered for the first time in her soft voice as she glanced upon the tall building.
Malik corporations.
"Ji, yaha. Come!"
(Yes, here)
Hand in hand, both of us entered inside and took the elevator for the top floor. Aradhya's gaze snapping at me but I simply wrapped my hand around her waist, pulling her to my side till we reached the terrace. As if it was a magnetic pull, she went ahead of me and stood by the railing, taking in the view from the terrace.
It was quite similar to our first date since there wasn't any hustle bustle of the vehicles as such and it was late at night as well. I stood beside her silently as well. Her eyes ahead at the ocean and mine on her. Though she looked disturbed, there was a certain calmness on her face and I knew my decision to bring her here was right.
Aradhya shuddered as a heavy wind blew and the little tendrils of her hair danced around her lips and cheeks. Her sharp nose naturally flustered. Wordlessly moving behind her, I wrapped her shawl which she had in her hand around her frame protecting her from the little nip in the air and moving further close, circled her in my arms. Her back pressed against my front and we took synchronised deep breaths.
"Adu, are you fine?"
My words were hardly above a whisper as I asked her again and my stupid girl just turned facing me and wrapped her hands around me tightly, her face hidden in my chest completely as she sobbed, breaking my heart into million pieces but I let her be for the time being. Letting her cry it out in my arms knowing it was needed. Her tears gradually increased as I felt my shirt getting wet now.
"Shhh! It's okay. It's okay, Adhya! Calm down, cupcake!"
Rubbing my hand on her back in a caressing manner, I pulled her even closer to me as she hiccuped badly still shedding tears. Holding the lapels of my shirt, she shook her head and kept whimpering.
"Bas, Adhya! Tabiyat kharab ho jayegi apki. Please rona band kar do."
(You'll fall sick this way. Please stop crying)
Cupping her face with great difficulty, I rubbed her tears away. Her eyes so red and swollen that I felt like a failure.
"Ran—Ranveer, dad—woh—-"
Her breathing was still laboured as she tried to speak but I shook my head, pecking her forehead a few times.
"Uncle's fine, cupcake! Nothings going to happen to him, I promise!"
She looked at me like a lost kid upon hearing my words and I made another promise to myself that this is the last time she's shedding so much tears. Not again.
"He—he wasn't responding, Ranveer! Mein—koi nahi tha aur—mein kitna dar gayi thi—"
(I was so scared)
Without even completing her sentence, she leaped up in my arms again, holding me tightly and I held her close. Her legs dangling in the air.
"But you handled it so well, right? I'm proud of you, Adu! Everything is fine now and uncle would be back to normal in no time. Please stop tormenting me by crying like this na?"
Her sobbing gradually decreased to silent whimpers as she nodded in my arms meekly.
"Ranveer, mein dad ko khona nahi chahti. I won't survive if anything happens to him!"
(I don't want to lose him)
Aradhya whispered like a child and I kept wiping her tears with the pad of my thumb. Her hands fisting the fabric of my shirt whereas I held her close to me by her waist.
"And who said anything like that will happen? You're dad isn't going anywhere leaving you, okay?"
She timidly nodded but before we could talk any further, her phone ranged. We both looked at the name and it was Sahiba.
"Hi, Sahiba!"
Aradhya spoke picking up the call though she frowned as to why she's calling her. She talked to her for a few minutes before bidding her bye and ending the call. I got a gist by the one sided conversation why Sahiba would've called but still raised my eyebrows in question looking at my fiancé to which she elaborated saying,
"Myru informed her about what happened and she called to know how I was doing!"
I nodded in understanding and the next second my phone ranged and it was Meera bhabhi.
"Ji bhabhi?"
I asked picking up the call. She and Reyansh bhai stayed back home and didn't came with us to see Anil uncle because bhabhi was throwing up since morning and needed rest herself.
"Aru hai tumhare sath, Veer? I was trying to call her but the phone kept coming busy!"
(Is Aru with you)
She replied from the other side and I nodded saying,
"Yes actually Sahiba called so Aradhya was talking with her!"
Hearing her name, Aradhya looked at me.
"Usse phone dena, I wanna talk to her!"
(Give her the phone)
Meera bhabhi requested and I wordlessly passed my phone to the woman in front of me who with utter confusion took it from my hands. She talked with bhabhi for the next few moments or more like Meera bhabhi talked and Aradhya kept nodding her head to whatever she said and once they were done, Aradhya passed the phone to me.
"She wants to talk to you!"
Aradhya informed, looking ahead to the beach.
"Yes?"
I kept the phone to my ear and asked to Meera bhabhi who was still on line.
"Take care of her. She'll need you, Ranveer!"
A faint chuckle left my lips when I remembered what Adhya has said back at her home.
"She'd rather not marry me, bhabhi! Needing me is out of question!"
Being a total jerk, I uttered those words and regretted it the next moment as the tears which stopped with great difficulty, lined Aradhya's eyes again, ready to spill any moment as she whipped her head in my direction. I ended the call abruptly and she pulled me closer to her holding my shirt in her hands with anger and frustration.
"You know I didn't mean it!"
I almost smiled as I was finally successful in bringing back the old Adhya. Baby steps it is. Tentatively wrapping one of my hands slightly lower than her waist and the other at the back of her neck, I whispered with my breath fanning her face.
"That doesn't mean I'm not hurt, Adhya!"
A guilty expression crossed her face at my words.
"I've lost people close to me a lot of times, Ranveer! What if I lose you as well?"
My heart ached with an excruciating amount of pain at her words and at the sheer vulnerability her brown eyes held. At that every moment I wanted nothing more but hide her away in my arms from the cruel world who brought my woman to a stage where she's afraid of losing people who she calls her own.
Cupping her cheeks and bringing her face closer to mine, I dropped a soft kiss on her red nose.
"You'll only lose me the day I lose my breath, Adhya!"
On cue, a tear left from the corner of her eye which was wiped by me that very instant. Taking a step more closer to me such that our noses touch, she whispered still in that small voice,
"I'm a lot of work!"
Smiling at that, i pushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear, peppering a few kisses on her jaw before looking into her eyes and saying,
"And I'm a persistent man, cupcake!"
She crashed in my arms after that and I stumbled a few steps back with the effect before chuckling and pulling her more into me as we stood like that silently in the hug.
"Ranveer?"
Fuck! With this voice of her's , she's going to be my death.
"Yes?"
Removing her face which was tucked in my neck, she looked at my lips before looking up in my eyes. Her chubby cheeks turning redder as each second passed by. Standing on her tippy toes and balancing herself by keeping her hands on my shoulders, she was close enough such that our lips brushed very lightly. My hands tightening around her waist instinctively.
"Kiss me?"
This 360 degree flip that this woman of mine makes from being the most shy person to walk on earth to this demanding one who knows what she wants and she'll ask for it regardless of her shyness, this behaviour will surely take my life and if it's her on the other end, I'll die happily.
Gripping her cheeks in my large palms, I angled our faces and just as my lips met hers, Aradhya's shrill ringtone broke us apart and this time I couldn't control but curse.
"Fucking seriously?"
Aradhya looked at me apologetically before mumbling that Aarav is calling her. She picked up the call whereas I tried calming my raging hormones which was skyrocketing as if I were a teenager.
