Y/N's Perspective
"Y/N idhar aao, baitho chup chaap, warna aapke bhai mujhe daantenge," Bhabhi said, somewhat exasperated, chasing after me-a fully grown girl- but for my family, the 23-year-old "adult" me can still be... just a little baby.
Cringe. That's what people might call it.
But let it be cringe. At least my family loves me, cringe or not.
"Papa, dekho na, Bhabhi zabardasti baal mein tel laga rahi hai," I complained, hugging my father, thinking, 'now I'll make him late.'
Papa glanced at me and said, "Mere Bacche, aap hi to yash se complain kar rahe the ki aapka hairfall bohot ho raha hai. I'll be late for the office, beta, let it be hmm."
"Yash Bhaiya?" I shouted, beginning to run around again. I could feel Bhabhi's patience wearing thin. Lol.
"Mere bacche itni ziddi kyu ho tum. Tumhara Bhai meri saari baatein maanta tha na jaane tum itni ziddi kyu ho-" Mom complained. "Mumma, comparison kyu kar rahi ho? Kaha Mai or Kaha Y/n, tucch jaanwar hai ye-"
"Hawww, Bhaiya, I'll show you," I chased after him, intent on grabbing his hair. "Ek to meri zindagi mein koi Khushi ka saadhan nahi choda, fir kehte ho Y/n jaanwar hai- You are Unbelievable," I whined.
"Khushi ka saadhan nahi chhoda kya matlab hai tumhara?"
"Arey, Himanshu, 11th grade, yaad hai kitni baar propose kiya tha usne mujhe, kehta tha agar haa kar dungi to future mein shaadi bhi karega mujhse, par aapne! Aapne use dara diya!!" I screeched, my teeth clenched as I remember my days of loneliness. Sigh. Ab to aadat si hai mujhko aise jeene ki...
"And then there was Manav Chauhan in the first semester! Use to aapne itna daraya ki usne to bhav Dena band kiya hi kiya, saath mein uske dost Sameer ne bhi mujhe ignore karna start kar diya. Bacha kaun? Bas Mai or mera akelapan. And forget about a love life! You made me study accounts instead of literature in college! Aur ab aap chahte hai ki mai aapki ghatiya company mein kaam karu- waha ki to chai bhi achi nahi I mean- Mai ghar chhod Rahi hu; aap log bohot bure hai." I blabbered making a silly crying face.
"Haye Ram, Is ladki ka muh nahi motor hai, baal mein tel ki baat se ghar chhodne ki baat par pohch gayi hai ye. Y/n idhar aake baitho chup chaap, warna sach mein aapka bahar jaana band kardenge" Bhabhi scolded, ye bhai se bhi zyada strict kyu hai yaar.
"Aai Bhabhi." Hmph. Is ghar mein koi pyaar hi nahi karta mujhe.
"Kab tak mai akeli rahungi apni tanhai ke saath..." I mumbled throwing my head on bhabhi's lap as she continued applying oil to my hair. "To kya kare, aapki shaadi karwa de? Yash, aap Y/n ke liye dekhiye na koi ladka-"
"No, Bhai! Mai mazaak kar rahi thi! Aap Aisa nahi karoge na... nahi na? Mai aapki pyaari behen hu; mujhe nahi bhejoge na kahi...?" I pleaded, looking up at my brother who seemed serious.
"Sahi keh rahi hai tumhari bhabhi. Mai aaj hi ladke dekhna shuru karke ise yaha se dafa karta hu. Bohot nakhre karti hai ye. Ab to ise iska pati hi sambhalega..."
"Jaise aap to bade mere nakhre sambhalte hai" Bhabhi muttered, almost making me giggle, but then I realized the gravity of my brother's words. "Nahi, Bhai, aap meri shaadi nahi kara sakte... Please bhai.. abhi to mai choti hu na,"
"Bhai?" He didn't even glance at me. "Bhaiya...??" I mumbled softly, my eyes watering as he continued to ignore me. I hugged Bhabhi and cried, "Bhabhi, mana karo na Bhai ko..."
"Y/N, I was just joking, kiddo, come here. Ro nahi, tch tch. Kab tak aise hi roti rahengi aap hume chodke jaane ke naam pe?"
"Mai nahi jaungi kahi. I don't want to marry any guy." I whined, embracing my brother. "It doesn't matter; girls are also nice. We can arrange your marriage with a girl-"
I slapped his chest playfully, "Bhaiyaaa!"
"Y/n mai aapka bura nahi chahta hu, Himanshu ki already teen girlfriends thi; wo aapka faayda uthana chahta tha. Aur wo ladka Manav, uski family business mein humari family se kaafi niche thi, wo bas uski chid mitana chahta tha aapka dil todke." Bhai caressed my head, as I pouted.
I always knew he was just protecting me.
"Jis din koi ladka aapse sachi mohobbat karega us din hum Khushi Khushi aapka haath uske haath mein de denge. Hum bas chahte hai ki humare Ghar ki khushi humesha khush rahe."
"Mujhe kisi aur ka pyaar nahi chahiye... Mujhe bas aap log chahiye. Mumma papa, bhabhi aap or future mein koi chotu, jo mujhe bua bolega." I hugged my brother tighter, I'm sure bhabhi is blushing right now because she's always planning a baby but mera Bhai khadus aadmi— khair.. we'll pretend she is not blushing.
"Jis din aapse koi khudse zyada pyaar karega, us din aapko us pyaar ke alawa is duniya mein kuch nahi dikhega, Y/n." Bhai smiled, and stood up, pecking my head. "Chee, tel."
I giggled, "Chalta hu ab mai, Dhyaan rakhna. Or shaam ke liye koi acche kapde select karna theek hai?" Bhai said to me, but i know his words are to bhabhi.
Good lord, it's an year of their marriage and they still act like this. I can't believe bhai was the one who fell in love first.
I came out of my thoughts to see bhabhi fixing bhai's tie and next she pecks his lips— shit! act like you didn't see anything Y/n.
Oh God, my virgin eyes.
"Y/n, Kaunsi duniya kho jaati ho aap?" Bhabhi whined, pulling me out of my unholy— I mean holy thoughts. "Kahi nahi bhabhi, bas ye soch rahi thi..."
"Kya soch rahi thi?" Bhabhi asked, "Bas ye hi ki bhaiya or aapki shaadi kaise hui..." Bhabhi blushed hearing me, "Puri kahani sunaungi to aapke chote se dimaag mein aapke pyaare se Bhai ki Puri image kharab ho jaayegi. Isliye synopsis hi sun lo-"
"Woh kisi patient se milne hospital aaye the, uske baad woh waha roz aane lage, ek din unhone direct mujhe approach kiya aur kaha ki 'I think I love you. Marry me,' jhooth nahi bolungi, it was shocking for me aur main aapke bhai ko jaanti bhi nahi thi isliye mana kar diya,"
"Ek hafte baad, aapke Bhai, papa mummy ke saath mere ghar rishte leke aaye the. Ye dekhle mujhe kuch ajeeb feel hua. Kyuki mujhe samajh nahi aa Raha tha ki Yash ko mujhme Aisa kya dikha Jo wo mujhe itni jaldi shaadi karne ko bhi taiyar the, I mean mai to Yash ke hisaab se sunder bhi nahi hu. But fir bhi wo mujhse shaadi karna chahte the... Or fir uske baad unhone mujhse kaha ki, 'Y/n, meri choti behen hai, par wo mere liye mere pehle bacche jaisi hai. Kuch bhi ho jaaye meri pehli priority humesha Y/n rahegi' us time mujhe laga ki ye aadmi apni behen se itna pyaar karta hai to mujhse kitna karega..? I think I fell for him at that moment."
A tear escaped my eyes hearing her, i knew my brother loved me. But to prioritise me that much?
I laid my head on bhabhi's head, "Pata hai bhabhi, jab bhai or aapki shaadi ho rahi thi, mujhe lagta tha ki aap mujhse baaki bhabio ki tarah behaviour karoge. Par aap bhot acche ho. Aap Mera kitna khayal rakhte ho... Im sorry for annoying you at times."
"Koi baat nahi baccha, apni bhabhi ko tang nahi karogi to kise karogi. Waise bhi kuch time baad to aapko bhi jaana hai-" bhabhi said but interrupted her with a whine "Bhabhi.."
"Kabhi na kabhi to honi hi hai aapki shaadi bhi, baccha..." Bhabhi said, saari baatein ghum firke meri shaadi pe hi kyu aa rahi hai aajkal. Ye log kahi mujhe bhagana to nahi chah rahe? Sus.
"Y/n! Fir kho gai aap-"
"Uh huh... Aap mujhe ye batao ki aap bhai se kaisa pyaar karte ho?"
"Beintehaa pyaar." Bhabhi replied, to which my lips twitched. Hain? Bas? Itna hi? "Acha.." i replied nonetheless.
"Kam bola kya?" Bhabhi asked, chuckling at my reaction. Irs funny how she reads me easily. "Haan, I mean no-"
"Koi baat nahi jab aapko mohobbat hogi tab aap chaar panno pe bayan karna kaisa pyaar hua hai aapko... Aapke unn se"
I blushed.
Will I ever experience love like Bhabhi and Bhaiya? The subtle flirting, the shyness... will I ever experience it? If yes, then who will be the one to love me...
And who will be the one I love?
"Ouch" I smack pulled me out of my thoughts, "Mumma... Maarte kyu ho, I'm a handle with care product" I pouted making bhabhi. "Beta ji, ye product mera hi hai or mujhe pata hai ki aap handle with care wala product nahi ho. Ab agar apne khayali pulao banane band kardiye ho. To apne bhabhi ki madad karo. Pure din baithi rehti ho, na kaam pe jaati ho na Ghar ka kaam. Bas wo dabba pakadke baithi rehti ho-"
"Mumma dabba nahi, Laptop!"
"Kya fark padhta hai, hai to wo dabba hi, tumhare dimaag ki tarah."
"Mummy Ji, Mai karti hu baat aap aaram karlijiye jaake." Bhabhi said, smiling to mumma. Mujhse zyada to bhabhi beti hai mumma ki. Hmph.
"Y/n, aap apne hair wash krlena thodi der mein. Mai tab tak aapke kapde iron kardu?"
"Nahi bhabhi mai karlunga, aap bhai ke liye jaldi se kuch gift le aao... Kyunki party mein toh bhai aapki sautano ke saath baatein karne mein busy rahenge,"
"Mere sautane??? Kya matlab, kya bole jaa rahi ho??" Bhabhi said, horrified, her eyes were widened i almost laughed.
"Arey bhaiya ke business partners."
"Y/n aap, aapki to mai pitai karke rahungi aaj. Meri saans atak gayi thi pata hai aapko-"
"Mazaak tha bhabhi, c'mon..." I pouted, bhabhi gave me a side eye and said "Jab aapke saath koi karega Aisa mazaak tab hum dekhenge aapka reaction. Bas wo din aane do Y/n jab aapko kisi se pyaar hoga."
Kya Aisa bhi ho sakta hai? Mujhe bhi pyaar hoga?
Kaisa pyaar karungi mai?

3rd Person Perspective
Everyone was so happy. Y/n could swear that of all the moment Yash has been happy, this was the utmost level of his happiness.
And seeing her brother so happy, was like an achievement for Y/n. The wide cute smile was everything Y/n needed.
Yash, her brother was the most important to her.
The entire Kumar family had joined the party early, while Y/n, the princess, was the last one to enter. And as soon she entered she was witnessing her brother talking while laughing with his wife.
She was sure the couple didn't get to spend much time to spend together, even after Surbhi—her sister in law had left her job because she prioritised her relationship with Yash more than anything. And Y/n felt sad that the woman who was doing her best for her family didn't recieve enough happiness from what she deserved.
That's one of the reason Y/n had insisted on the party—because there was no way Yash would actually take Surbhi out and if he did take her, then there's no way his mother would actually let her go out.
Y/n was her family's princess. No doubt.
But it didn't mean that her mother treated her daughter in law like a daughter.
There was always a difference.
Shaking her head, Y/n ignored her thoughts and traced her steps towards the couple. "Bhai Mai kaisi lag rahi hu," Y/n asked, hugging him from behind.
"Kya pehn rakhe hai ye? Pure kapde nahi pehne jaate tumse? Mai abhi Sharma se bolke tumhe Ghar bhij wata hu, jaao change karke aao-" Yash asserted, but paused when Surbhi placed her palm on his forearm "Yash... Sirf sleevless suit hi to pehna hai, itna kyu daant rahe ho-"
"Mai baat kar raha hu na, Surbhi?" Yash glared at his wife, whilst Y/n stood awkwardly, a frown on her face.
"Or aap... Thoda zameen pe aajaye." Yash scolded and walked away, making Y/n pout and immediately hug surbhi "Bhabhi, sach mein change karke aana padega kya...?" She asked, placing her head on Surbhi's shoulder.
"Na baccha, I'll handle Yash. Dont worry, hmm?" The elder female uttered, and dragged her sister in law somewhere, however she noticed the fallen face of the younger girl and thus, she decided to change the conversation.
"By the way, aap itna late kyu aai? Maine aapki saari zarurat ki cheeze ek jagah rakhdi thi, to ye mat kehna ki falana nahi mil raha tha, ab batao jaldi?" Hearing that, the younger female beamed, her eyes shined with excitement.
"Bhabhi, wo mai... Wo mujhe ek idea aaya tha... So I was writing it-" Hearing Y/n talk about writing made someone's face fall, this time it was Surbhi who was frowning.
Y/n continued talking about her writing but Surbhi was not too happy about it. Surbhi held Y/n's shoulder, "Y/n! Yaad hai pichli baar aapke bhai ne kitna bada issue banaya tha iss baat ka? Aapko itni baar kaha ki Yash doesn't like that you write. And even you know that it's no good for you- wo distract karti hai tumhe. Hume accha lagta hai jab aap humare saath time spend karti ho, par iss writing ki wajah se aap apne bhaiya ke saath kaam par bhi nahi jaati. Hum sabko pata hai ki aap kitna distracted hai isse-" Surbhi was scolding Y/n, while Y/n stood still, her eyes watering and body shivering hearing her sister in law.
"Kya hua Surbhi- Y/n! Tum abhi tak ghar nahi gai?" Yash who was walking by notice Surbhi talking to Y/n on the corner away from the sight of the guests.
Y/n bit her lips seeing that Surbhi finally stopped scolding her after Yash came but this time it was Yash who was glaring at her.
"Y/n, tumhe koi baat pyaar se samajh nahi aati na-" Yash began, but Y/n walked away harshly pushing Yash by bumping her shoulder with him that led Surbhi to get more angered.
A month after their marriage, Yash had gotten into an accident causing a shoulder injury. It wasn't entirely healed.
Surbhi held Y/n wrist, turning the already crying girl around and didnt hesitate before leaving a slap on her face. "Bohot ho gaya aapka, Y/n! Kabhi to apne Bhai ka bhi socho humesha tension deti rehti ho-" Surbhi teared up.
"Surbhi-" Yash uttered with widened eyes, but that was the breaking point for both Y/n and Surbhi. Y/n ran away. Whilst Surbhi stood there in front of her husband.
Yash knew Surbhi needed him and whilst Y/n needed some time alone.
"Theek hu mai, tum kitna ghabra jaati ho yaar." Yash assured, hugging his wife, "I'm sorry mai use itna daanta or tha- thappad...bhi maar diya-" Surbhi sobbed. "Bachpana hai usme but baate samajh jaati hai wo... Samajh jaayegi, tum baat karlena usse." Yash said. One thing he was glad about was that Surbhi was talking with Y/n at a space away from the party.
The pride of the house was saved, but the peace and happiness? Well it's gone it's gone.
On the other hand
Y/n sobbed, she wasn't far from the place where she just got slapped, it was just a balcony, a decorated one attached to the venue on first floor of the same building.
She sobbed and sobbed.
Was finding solace in words and not being able to choose something other than her passion such a big thing?
Was it a big deal that she didn't want to sacrifice her dream? Was it wrong to be selfish for once...?
Y/n looked below from the railing, to see people coming out of cars. Probably more guests, her parents and brother had invited.
Ironic, how Y/n was the one who suggested the party but she had no guests of her knowledge. How would she? She had no friends. All credits to Yash Kumar.
Sometimes she couldn't really understand what type of love was that—
Y/n flinched, when she looked up to find a young man standing at a respectful distance, offering her a handkerchief.
'Is he beautiful or Is beauty him'
'Chup kar Y/n... Not the right time-'
Hesitantly, she accepted the handkerchief, wiping away her tears, her gaze lingering on him, questioning yet grateful. He seemed to be a guest she hadn't noticed before, someone who didn't fit the typical mold of their family's social circle.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. Andar bohot bheed thi... Isliye mai yaha aagaya," he said, his voice warm and soothing.
"It's okay. Thank-you." Y/n looked up at him, giving him a clear look of her face that was now red due to crying.
Now it was back to awkward silence.
Y/n was again trying to hold back her cries, and the male was just standing silently. Taking occasional glances at her unintentionally—yeah great lie.
"Aapko kabhi lagta hai aapse koi pyaar nahi karta, par wo sab kehte hai ki wo aapse zyada kisi se pyaar nahi karte?" Y/n asked the male present with her, who was confused at her sudden attempt to converse.
"Huh?" The male, stunned, uttered. "Aapse hi keh rahi hu, kaali shirt wale bhai-" Hearing Y/n, the male interrupted "Nahi... Aisa kabhi nahi laga mujhe."
"Oh, aapke friends hai?" Y/n again attacked the man with another question, the male really wished he could disappear because an extrovert can be a lifesaver but also a nightmare to an introvert.
"Ek hai, or wo hi kaafi hai." He replied, curt and short. Y/n sniffed, trying to not cry anymore but this man and his cold replies weren't helping. "Mast life hai matlab aapki." She uttered.
"Haa shayad. Sab kehte hai. And I'm very grateful ke mere mumma papa, bhaiya or best friend duniya ke best log hai jo mujhe mil gaye." He replied.
"Aap kaun ho?" She asked and the question was weird though straight but funny, and the male laughed, but his laughter waned as he realised he doesn't know how to reply.
"Uh mai- apne papa ke saath aaya-" he awkwardly replied, "Aise kyu dar rahe ho jaise jaaydad maang li maine." Y/n scoffed, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Aap kya kaam karte ho?"
'Yaar ye ladki itna kyu baat kar rahi hai mujhse, Mumma bachao'
"Doctor hu... I mean abhi bana nahi, abhi training period chal Raha hai. I'll soon be one though." He replied, leaning on the railing.
"Aapki koi hobbies hai? Mujhe writing bohot pasand hai!" Y/n mused, her eyes once again having a twinkle. 'Mujhe gaana pasand hai' The male thought.
"Haan, maine suna tha aapko-"
"Aap humari baatein sun rahe the?" Y/n asked, her lips morphed into a frown again. "I'm sorry, Mai bas waha se guzar raha tha jab Mrs. Kumar aapko daa- daant rahi thi... I'm really sorry-" he apologized, stuttering but his voice was sincere and warm.
Almost, contagious.
"Koi baat nahi." Y/n mumbled, What could she do except for forgiving the stranger anyway? She now was no longer interested in carrying a conversation with him. It felt embarassing now that he saw her being scolded-worse, being slapped.
"Badi behen hai aapki woh?" Much to Y/n's surprise, the male asked her something. "Nahi, Bhabhi hai. Or married hai." Y/n glared at him thinking he was trying to talk to her so that he can set himself up with Surbhi.
"Obviously marriage anniversary ki party hai married to hongi hi." The male smiled, to which Y/ns lips formed into a small smile too. "Aap sunenge humne kya likha tha...?" Y/n asked, her eyes twinkling, face as bright as the moon, and her fists clenched into excitement.
Tick tick 1
Tick tick 2
Tick tick 3
"Zaroor." The male smiled back.
Y/n sighed in relief. Her counting to three actually bought her something that didn't upset her. God knows how much she'd have cried if this unknown guy didn't want to read what she wrote.
Y/n cleared her throat, now looking at the male before speaking,
"Jab main mohabbat karungi, to is kadar karungi,
Har daastaan-e-mohabbat,
mere naam se darne lag jayegi,
Jab main mohabbat karungi, aisi mohabbat karungi,
ki khud mohabbat bhi sharma jayegi,
Meri mohabbat ka junoon dekh,
har kahani fiki pad jayegi,
Keh doongi duniya se, aisi mohabbat hai meri,
jo sab par bhari pad jayegi."
The male looked at her, awestruck as she said those words with a smile. "Kaisi thi??" Y/n asked, excited but the male stood silence making her frown, "Arey O kaali shirt, Kaisi thi??" Y/n asked, her lips unknowingly forming into a pout as she shook him grabbing his arm.
"Bohot acchi-! Accha likhti hai aap-"
"Mujhe laga aap mere wifi ki tarah atak Gaye," Y/n giggled. "sorry haan, aise khichne ke liye." She asserted.
"It's okay..." The male replied, but Y/n's attention was caught by her phone where her brother and father were texting her, informing that the cake cutting ceremony was about to start.
Though Y/n didn't want to go, but it was her brother's and bhabhi's big day.
She pressed her lips into a thin, "I'll leave now, Mujhe bula rahe hai..." She said, turning around to leave. Whilst the male stared at her, secretly staring glances.
Suddenly Y/n turned around, facing him "By the way, Aapka naam kya hai?"
"Jaan Gupta-"'
"I'm Y/n Kumar, Okay Jaan, Byie!" She said, and ran away.
Meanwhile, Jaan stood stoned, smiling in disbelief at the girl.
-
"Kuch is kadar humari aakhein mili,
Ke dil ne dharkan ko naya naam diya,
Mohabbat ka aisa asar hua,
Har lamha, har saans unke naam likh diya."
-What Jaan should've thought when he saw Y/N
vs
What he actually thought -
"Bilkul Bhai ka type hai."
