Chapter 2 - Broken Dreams
City Hospital. 8am.
Seated on a stool near Vihaan's bed, Khushi had one hand rested on his hand and the other hand caressing his hair, her red puffy weak and dry eyes gazing at his face. She spent all the night calling him and trying to make him react, but he didn't respond to anything she did.
She broke down, cried, screamed and begged him to open his eyes once, talk with her, smile like he always does when he sees her.. but all she got was his silence.
Her family took his parents to stay at their home for few days as Sapna had fainted and Rajat (Vihaan's father) wasn't also in the condition to take care of her alone. They still didn't recover from the shock, hence Guptas thought it was better for Vihaan's parents to stay with them only.
"Vihaan you don't have to worry about anything. I will handle everything. I will send that man who did this with you to jail. You just.. you just need to be fine Vihaan.. don't leave me alone please.. You know it we're getting married in a week na? Then please be fine as soon as possible.. I can only postpone our marriage for two months.. not more than that.. so ple-"
Khushi couldn't complete the sentence as she broke down in tears again, watching him laid on the bed with closed eyes, not even blinking his eyes as a response to her. It hurt her to imagine how much excited he was for their wedding and today he wasn't even in state to express his feelings.
Flashback
"Khushi.. Khushi.. Khushi!" an excited Vihaan knocked the door of Khushi's room impatiently waiting for her to attend him, "Khu-"
"What is it Vihaan? Why are you shouting early in the morning?" Khushi asked in disbelief as soon as she opened the door, "I was dressing up, didn't God bless you with something named patience?" she frowned adjusting her dupatta on her shoulder properly now as he calmed a bit, chucking sheepishly.
"I'm sorry.. It's just Ma told me that our families met to talk about our marriage. I mean.. you said that you wanted to wait till you finish your college, right? Then-"
"Yes.. and I still want to complete my education. But then I thought only last semester is left for me to finish my college. So it's no big deal, if we get married before that. That's why I told Amma and Babu ji that I'm ready to get married to you," Khushi smiled widely staring at the astonished and overwhelmed expression on his face.
"Oh God.. I'm so happy today.. You don't know how much I waited to hear this from you," he smiled brightly, hugging her suddenly making Khushi startled and surprised at first, as later she reciprocated the hug smiling shyly.
"I love you Khushi.. I love you so much. I'm so happy today.. You can't even imagine. I can't wait to get married to you," Vihaan broke the hug, cupping her face as he slowly leaned in to kiss her cheek but Khushi placed her finger on his lip, smiling shyly.
"Control yourself Mr. Vihaan! All these things only-"
"Only after marriage," he chuckled nodding his head. Khushi smiled staring at him lovingly.
Flashback ends.
Khushi wiped away the tears from her cheeks, then rested her forehead against his, whispering to him, "I love you Vihaan. Please be fine soon."
Her little moment with him was interrupted by Vihaan's father who opened the door and walked inside the room, "Khushi bitiya.."
Khushi sat straight and composed herself, staring at the weak man standing in front of her, she greeted him and immediately stood up from the stool gesturing him to take a seat.
Rajat shook his head slightly indicating that he was fine, then looked at his son, "How is he now? Did the doctor say anything?"
"Doctor said that he's out of the woods now. We just need to be patient and wait till he gain his consciousness back," Khushi said.
Rajat nodded his head, "Khushi bitiya you should go home now and rest for a while. You've stayed with him all night. I will be with him now. You don't have to worry."
"Okay Papa," Khushi nodded thinking about something else. She grabbed her bag and phone determinedly, then looked at Rajat, "Papa I'm leaving. l will come back at lunch time."
"Okay," Rajat nodded his head, when she left from there, he shifted his attention to his son.

At the police station.
Khushi clutched her bag as she walked in the police station, looking around cluelessly.
A police officer noticed that she was looking around her surroundings a bit lost and disoriented, he approached her and asked politely, "Good morning. How may I help you?"
Khushi gulped, staring at him startled for a minute, "Good morning.. I.. I want to file a complaint."
"Okay. Come with me," he guided her to his desk, "Who do you want to file the complaint against?" he asked on the way.
"Arnav. Singh. Raizada," Khushi gritted her teeth as the ugly smirk of that man flashed on her mind.
The police officer stopped in his track, as he took a minute to register what she said, then raised his eyes to meet hers, "Prince Arnav Singh Raizada?" he asked to confirm.
Khushi looked at him confused for a while, then realization dawned upon on her. So, that man is a part of Lucknow Royal Family, Raizadas.
"Yes.. he's the one," Khushi nodded her head determinedly, she won't give up or be afraid just because he is a member of Raizada Royal Family.
"I want to file a complaint against him. He has beaten up my fiance badly and now my fiance is in coma because of him," Khushi said.
"Who? Me?"
Khushi became alerted when she heard the same voice of yesterday, she turned behind only to find the same man standing some three feet distance away from her, with two bodyguards dressed all in black beside him.
"Yes," Khushi glared angrily at him, then looked at the police officer who was just watching the scene, "He's the one who beat up my fiance.. He himself confessed it to me," she pointed to Arnav, while talking to the police officer.
"Who is your fiance? When did I beat him? And when did I confess it to you?" Arnav asked smirking as he took a seat comfortably on the chair opposite to the officer's one.
Khushi frowned staring at him in disbelief, "You were in the hospital yesterday and you talked with me. Don't try to lie here."
"Hospital?" Arnav acted like confused with her words, he glanced at the police officer, "I wasn't in the hospital yesterday officer. I was partying at my friend's house and he can confirm this to you."
"He's lying police officer. Please trust me, he was there in the hospital only. You can ask the doctor who's treating Vihaan, he was with me that time.. you can also check the CCTV footage of the hospital as well. And.. some security guards took Vihaan to the hospital. I'm sure they were guards of the steel mill Vihaan works in, they must have witnessed everything. Please interrogate them as well," Khushi pleaded desperately, her eyes filling with tears again.
"Please do that officer. File her complaint, investigate this case and if you find anything against me, then I'm here.. not running anywhere, you can arrest me anytime!" Arnav said gazing intently at Khushi, with the usual crooked smirk plastered on his lips.
The police officer asked Khushi to write her complaint, and she readily wrote the information and details she had.
Arnav, who still seated on the chair, stared at her all the while with a half smile playing on his lips.
"ASR?" another man walked in the police station and stood staring confused at his friend, who was staring at a girl standing near the desk, writing something.
"Shh," Arnav raised his hand to his friend but his eyes were still fixed on Khushi, "Be quiet Aman. You'll disturb her. She's filing a complaint against me."
Aman's face expression were like 'What the..' but he chose to remain silent as ordered by his friend.
Khushi fumed in anger hearing Arnav's words, but she chose to ignore him as she continued to write her complaint, then handed it to the police officer.
After stamping the complaint, the officer went to make a copy of it.
"I must admit that I'm impressed with you. Even after knowing that I belong to the royal and richest family in Lucknow, you still went on to file a complaint against me," Arnav raised his brows, smirking.
Khushi looked away, a frown adorning her forehead, she crossed her arms.
Aman took the opportunity to approach Arnav, his eyes questioned his friend what was happening there. Arnav blinked his eyes once in response, gesturing his friend to stay calm.
The police officer came back and handed the copy of the complaint to Khushi and talked with her about few formalities, while Arnav was staring at both calm and composed, he simply smiled devilishly when Khushi would glance at him.
When Khushi turned to leave after bidding goodbye to the police officer, Arnav glanced at her as he opened his mouth to speak, "Good luck."
Khushi stopped in her track and turned to him, "You're going to need it more than me. Because I won't rest till I make you pay for everything you did with my Vihaan."
"Oh please take rest.. I already told you I did nothing," Arnav blinked his eyes innocently.
Khushi looked at him disgusted and left from there.
Arnav glanced at the complaint on the desk, he took it in his hand and read her name aloud with his husky tone, "Khushi Kumari Gupta! Interesting!"

Gupta house.
"Khushi bitiya have you gone mad? Why did you went to the police station alone? Why didn't you inform any of us about this?" her father scolded her worriedly.
Khushi was seated on her bed, staring at nothing in particular, "I didn't want to make you worried. Yesterday Sapna ma fainted just by hearing that her son is in coma. Everyone was so devastated. How could I tell you all that the one responsible for Vihaan's state was there in the hospital only? How can I say these things in front of Vihaan's parents? They won't be able to bear it. I'm waiting for them to be in a better state of mind, then I'll tell them everything."
"You should have told me at least Khushi," Payal sighed.
"You think it will be easy to fight with these dangerous people Khushi? Why did you even file the complaint against him when you got to know that he's the Prince of Raizada family?" Garima asked, she feared these people might hurt her daughter too.
"So what Amma? Just because he's a Prince of a royal family doesn't give him the right to beat up someone so mercilessly and roam around freely like that. He should be behind the bars and I'll make sure that happens at any cost," Khushi spoke angrily.
"Calm down Titaliya.. Your mother is saying right only. These people are dangerous. They might try to hurt you the same way they did with Vihaan bitwa to silence you," Buaji spoke with moist eyes.
"So what should I do Buaji? Day after tomorrow was supposed to be my mehndi function. I was so happy and dreaming about my mehndi design, worrying if it my mehndi would be dark or not, thinking that I should leave the window of my room open because Vihaan might come secretly at any time to meet me. And see what happened now, a man beat him up to the point that he went to coma, I don't know why he did that to my fiance.. He broke my dreams. He destroyed my happiness. And you're saying that I should let him go and live his life like nothing happened just because he's powerful and rich man? He should enjoy his life and move on after destroying mine?" Khushi looked up at her Buaji crying helplessly.
Garima and Shashi looked at her unable to control their tears. They sat with her and hugged her tightly.
Payal shut her eyes tightly trying to control herself from bursting out in tears.

Sometime later..
Sheesh Mahal
An elder man knocked the door of his son's room, getting no response he sighed and himself opened the door, walking in and looking around the room but his son was nowhere to be seen.
He headed towards the poolside and finally found his son gazing deeply and intently at the pool, he knew that his attention wasn't on the pool, his son was actually drowning in his own thoughts.
He cleared his throat to gain Arnav's attention. When Arnav didn't respond, he called loudly, "Arnav!"
Arnav looked at his side startled for a second, but quickly composed himself, "What do you want?"
"Is this a way to talk with your father Arnav?" Arvind frowned deeply as he gritted his teeth.
Arnav chuckled mockingly, "Father!"
"Yes, I'm your father.. whether you like it or not. It will not change the truth," Arvind said.
"Anyways, I just came to inform you that tomorrow my friend Rahul Khanna and his daughter, Meera will come to Lucknow. He's a very important business partner of mine. So please, I request you to behave properly with them. And if possible come with us to the airport tomorrow to receive them," Arvind spoke in low tone.
"I can't assure you of that.. but I'll definitely try DAD!" Arnav smirked.
Arvind sighed in defeat as he nodded his head and left from Arnav's room.

Gupta house. 3 pm.
"Payal bitiya go and see who's at the door," Garima shouted from the kitchen.
"Ji Amma," Payal replied rushing towards the door, as she opened it, she gulped staring at the person standing in front of her.
"Can we come in?" Arvind Raizada asked smiling sweetly. He didn't even wait for her answer as he barged in the house, his bodyguards followed him.
Payal's heart started beating faster as she rushed to call her parents. But Arvind's voice was loud enough to gain everyone's attention, as Khushi, Buaji and Sapna walked out of the room and appeared at the living room. Garima and Shashi also walked out of the kitchen as they found a frightened Payal on the way, who whispered to them that the King of Raizada family, Arvind Raizada was at their house. They all rushed to the living room worriedly.
"Namaste," Arvind greeted them.
"Namaste," Guptas and Sapna greeted him back, except Khushi who was staring at him expressionlessly till now.
"I won't take much of your time since I know you're still upset about what happened to... Vi," Arvind tried to remember the name, "Oh yes.. Vihaan," he hit his forehead lightly, "Forgive me. The more I'm getting older, my memory is getting weaker I guess!" he chuckled at his own words.
Guptas and Sapna were just staring at him, not finding his words funny at all.
"So who's Khushi between you two?" Arvind asked pointing at Payal and Khushi as he tried to guess.
"I'm Khushi," Khushi replied in a cold tone.
"Hmm," Arvind gazed at her intently, his eyes turn dark and cold suddenly, "So Khushi, I understand what happened to you fiance was wrong.. I don't know what happened to my short tempered son that he fought with your fiance. But you should stop thinking that you'll be able to send my son to jail because of a petty fight. Your fiance is still alive, be happy with that and withdraw the complaint you made against my son."
Khushi felt disgusted hearing those words from Arvind. She couldn't believe people like him exist in this world.
"I won't withdraw my complaint," Khushi said fearlessly, her face was turning red in anger and disgust she was feeling for the man who dared to come to her house and threaten her and her family.
Arvind stood up from the couch and walked towards Khushi, standing in front of her, as he smirked evilly, "Looks like you want to lose you fiance, your parents, your sister.. everything! Don't play with me girl.. I can destroy your life in matter of seconds."
Guptas and Sapna looked at each other frightened, they were sobbing silently.
"My men are in the city hospital right now. Should I call them to-"
"NO.. NO.. Please don't do anything to my son..please leave him.. please.. Khushi will withdraw her complaint.. Please don't do anything to my son," Sapna cried begging Arvind.
Arvind smirked, "Good. That's how I like it!"
Khushi gazed at him with helpless tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Come with me. I will drop you at the police station and you'll withdraw your complaint," Arvind ordered in a rude tone and left from there, gesturing his bodyguards to keep an eye on Khushi.
Khushi fell on the floor, breaking down completely. She screamed helplessly and frustrated for not being able to do anything to get justice for Vihaan.

Sheesh Mahal. 8pm.
"Why did you go to Khushi's house with your men?" Arnav walked in the dining room, furiously shouted glaring at his father having dinner peacefully with his family.
"Bhai what happened? Why are you shouting like this?" Akash, his younger brother asked cluelessly.
"Don't you have any manners Arnav? We're having dinner," his step mother, Vidya asked pissed off.
"I went there to save you," Arvind replied seriously.
Arnav rolled his eyes, "I don't need anyone to save me. You shouldn't have interfered in my matter. I know how to deal with it."
"Oh you know how to deal with your matters! By convincing that girl to write a complaint against you and telling that police officer that he can arrest you anytime! Is that how you deal with this situation? Luckily a police officer called me and told me everything that happened otherwise you never leave a chance to spoil our family's reputation," Arvind said sarcastically.
Arnav angrily slammed his fist on the dining table making Vidya and Akash gasp shocked, then walked away from there. Arvind shook his head in disbelief.
"Instead of thanking me, he's getting angry. I don't understand this boy," Arvind frowned.
"He's a spoilt brat. You've given him everything, the privilege of being a Prince, this luxury palace to live and what not, yet he's so thankless and rude to you," Vidya frowned.
"He's not a spoilt brat Mom," Akash glanced at his mother seriously as he got up from his chair.
"Where are you going? Finish your food Akash!" Vidya said sternly.
"I've lost my appetite," Akash said in low tone and left from there, going upstairs to his room.

Gupta house.
"Khushi please eat something," Payal tried to feed her sister, who was seated on the bed in bridal position, lost in her thoughts, tired of crying, looking like a lifeless body.
"Khushi I'm talking with you. Please eat something," Payal patted her cheek gently.
Khushi nodded sideways, "I don't want," she whispered.
"Khushi forget everything that happened today. It's almost impossible to fight with these powerful people. They will do anything to save themselves. And we're the ones who will suffer the consequences for all our lives. It's okay. You already tried your best to fight for Vihaan. I'm sure DM will punish them for their sins one day. Now we only have to pray that Vihaan gains his consciousness as soon as possible. We need to pray for him to be fit and fine Khushi," Payal said trying to console her sister.
"That ugly devil smirk of that man will torment me for all my life Jiji," Khushi said.
Payal placed the tray of food at the near table, then sat beside her sister and hugged her tightly, caressing her hair and whispering sweet nothings to her. Khushi rested her face on the crook of Payal's neck, closing her eyes.
