It's been a few months and since they first met, Mondo and Taka have continued to see each other almost every day, and both have had to come up with excuses for their relatives as neither of them wanted them to know what they were doing, not yet at least.

And with each passing day the two boys were getting closer and closer and their friendship was getting stronger, until one day they both realize that they feel more than just friendship for each other.

~to the beach~

Mondo is back along the beach, shell in hand, ready to see Taka again, and as always Akemi was with him jumping around and barking excitedly.

Mondo: "I know I know, you too can't wait to see him again but now stay calm, ok Akemi?"  He said as he strokes the puppy's head

In response Akemi dazzles a couple of times then sits on the sand continuing to wag his tail

Mondo blows into the shell making that beautiful low sound and after a few minutes he sees Taka's head pop out of the water

Taka: "Hello Mondo!" He smiles

Mondo: "Hey, Taka. Nice to see you" Mondo smiled back as Taka swims towards him "you're look good today. As always"

Taka: he blushes a little "t-thank you, you look great too"

Mondo: "thank you"

Akemi happily dazzles at the sight of Taka

Taka: "hello to you too Akemi" he says smiling while Akemi jumps into his arms denying him his face "h-hey! You are tickling me! Hahaha" He says laughing

Mondo: he chuckles slightly 'cute' he thought 'wha-? why do I think he's cute?! He's just a friend!.... right?'  He thinks as his cheeks begin to turn pink

Taka: "Are you ok, Mondo? You look strange" he asks not noticing the boy's red cheeks

Mondo: "y-yes I'm fine, don't worry"

Taka: "Okay then, anyway did something new happen?" He asks curiously putting the puppy back on the ground

Mondo: "not really. I just wanted to see you"

Taka: "Me too, I like your company" he smiled

Mondo: blushed "it's nice to hear you say that"

Taka: "hey I was thinking, can you talk more about the human world?"

Mondo: "Sure. Let me tell you about the place I like to go whenever I need to calm down."  Mondo said, smiling at Taka

Taka: "what is it?"  he asks curiously

Mondo: "well it's a big field and it has flowers everywhere. In the middle of the field is a great place to lie down and watch the stars the sunset on the horizon always looks beautiful there. I wish I could take you there but you probably would have  need legs for that"

Taka: "yeah, with this tail I can't move much out of the water, but tell me what are these.... 'flowers'?"

Mondo: "you don't know what flowers are?"

Taka: shook his head "sorry but I don't know"

Mondo: "you don't have to apologize, being a sea creature it's normal that you don't know them"

Taka: "So what are they?"  He asked curiously

Mondo: "hm. It's hard to explain. Wait here. I'll be right back" Mondo went to pick a flower for Taka

Taka while waiting for Mondo on the beach he tries to keep himself hidden so that no one can see him, while he playing with Akemi who had stayed there with him

Mondo: "ok I'm back!" He said returning shortly after handing him the flower

Taka: "so.... this is a flower?" asks Taka curiously

World: "yep! Do you like it?"

Taka: "Yes, it's very cute! Can I take it for a moment?"

World: "sure"

Taka takes the flower and examines it closely by gently touching the petals with her fingers as Mondo looks at him smiling

Mondo: 'he's so cute' he think 'ugh, stop thinking like that!'

Taka: "This is very cute, and there are many others in this place that you talked about, right?"

Mondo: "yes, very many"

Taka: "it must be very beautiful, I wish I could see it"

Mondo: "it is... and I wish I could take you there... but hey, I can bring you flowers whenever you want'

Taka: "That would be great, thank you!"  he smiled

Modno: "any time, Taka" Even Mondo smiled

Taka smiles back, but realizes that he feels something strange, he feels his cheeks getting slightly warmer and he feels his heart beating hard in his chest.

Taka: 'what happens to me... why do I feel so strange?...' he thinks while he keeps looking at the flower that Mondo gave him

Mondo: "Oi, are you ok, Taka?"

Taka: "huh? Oh, yes I'm fine don't worry" he smiles at him

Mondo: "Okay then" he says resting his head on Taka's shoulder

Taka: "what are you doing?"

Mondo: "If you feel uncomfortable, I can stop" he blushed

Taka: "n-no it's okay, it's just that I'm not used to this kind of thing" he said blushing a little

Mondo: "oh, ok the " Mondo smiled slightly

Taka: he smiles too 'Why did I feel this way... when I'm with him?...' he thinks

Mondo: he closed his eyes and sat peacefully with Taka

Taka: take a look at Mondo 'now that I look at it better, he's very handsome.... ugh! Why am I thinking of such a thing!?.. ' he thinks blushing a little

Mondo took Taka's hand making him blush even more at his touch, but for some reason he likes it

Mondo: he opened his eyes and smiled "you're blushing again" he teased him

Taka: "I-I gues so"

Mondo: "you're cute, ya know?"

Taka: "C-cute?"  he blushe again

Mondo: "Yep!"

Taka: covers her face with her free hand

Mondo: "see? You are adorable!"

Taka: "s-stop it!"  he said embarrassed

Mondo: "Not gona happen" he wrapped his arms around Taka hugging him, getting a frustrated grunt from Taka, he laughed "I won't stop until you admit you are adorable"

Taka: "F-Fine! I'm adorable!"

Mondo: "you mean it?"  He teased him

Taka: "y-yes, I mean it!" he said flusterd, blushing more

Mondo: "good"  he let go Taka

Taka: "You just enjoy making me frustrated, don't you?"

Mondo: "aw, are you mad at me?"  he laughed lightly

Taka tries to stay serious, but he can't and laughs with Mondo

Mondo: smiles sweetly at Taka "I'm happy to be able to spend time with you"

Taka: "Me too, it's very nice, I've never had so much fun before"

Mondo: "well, I like that I can make you happy"

Taka smiled happily, he really likes to spend some time with Mondo

Mondo: "You are really cute, ya know that?"

Taka: "By now you must have said that at least a dozen times today" he joked

Mondo: "but it's truuue"

Taka: "fine fine" he giggles

The two spent the next few minutes talking and playing with Akemi to spend time together, until Mondo thought of trying to do something very special.

Mondo: "Hey, Taka? Can I try something?"

Taka: "sure, go ahead"

Mondo: "okay" Mondo takes a breath and kisses Taka on the cheek

Taka: puts his hand to his cheek and looks at Mondo "what was that?"

Mondo: "what do you mean?"

Taka: "Well, I-..... n-never mind, forget it, you will probably think I'm stupid if I ask"

Mondo: "No, I won't. I could never think that" Mondo smiled

Taka: "o-ok then, well.... I don't know what this is... "thing" you just did on my cheek"

Mondo: "you don't know what a kiss is? well, that's something I didn't think you wouldn't know. Um.. it's used to kinda.. sh-show affection and r-romance..."

Taka: "rom.. 'romance'?" Taka ask tilts his head a little

Mondo: "let me guess, you don't know what romance is either?'

Taka: shook his head again "I'm sorry if this is strange for you.."

Mondo: "No, it's fine. Romance is like... It's... Hm. Do you know what love is?"

Taka: "..unhm... it's when... two people really like each other, right?...I think...."

Mondo: "yeah, and romance is like flirting kinda"

Taka: "oh I see, interesting"

Mondo: "so, does that help you to know why I kissed you?"

Taka: "yeah, is mean that you prove affection for me, right?"

Mondo: "y-yeah"

Taka: "well, in this case" Taka approaches Mondo and kisses him on the cheek

Mondo: he's face goes red and he hides his face in his hands "I- uh-"

Taka: "I showed you my affection, because you are a good friend" he notes Mondo hiding his face "what's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"

Taka: "N-no! It's fine!" He said, not wanting Taka to be worried 'friends... just... friends' he thought

Taka: "you ok Mondo? you have a strange expression"

Mondo: "it's nothing, don't worry"

Taka was about to say something when they hear a shrill shell sound

Mondo: "It looks like you have to go now, right?"

Taka: "yeah, I forgot that today I have an important lesson on how to be a prince which I cannot miss"

Mondo: "in this case you better go, I guess you don't want to be late"

Taka: "Yeah, but before I go, are you sure you're okay? I don't whant that my gesture made you mad"

Mondo: "oh no I'm not mad, it's nothing really" he tries to smile so as not to make him feel guilty

Taka: "okay, then I'll go, see you next time Mondo"

Before leaving Taka pet Akemi, who had remained in Mondo's lap all the time, after which he returns to the water disappearing shortly after.

After making sure he is left alone, Mondo lets out a frustrated sigh as he grasps his face with his hands

Mondo: "why am I an idiot!?" He says as Akemi looks at him with a questioning look "what the fuck did it go through my head to do such a thing? Why the fuck did I kiss him!?!"

Mondo continues to swear at himself for a few seconds until Akemi starts licking his face

Mondo: "h-hey! Stop it, it tickling me!"  He chuckles as he takes the puppy off his face "but you're right I need to calm down, but now I'm more confused than anything else..." he says as he pats Akemi "I mean, Taka and I are friends right? so why do I feel so strange only when I'm with him? It makes no sense!"

Then sone voice attract Mondo's attention

??: "hey Mondo!"

The boy turns and sees two figures coming towards him, they are his friends Leon Kuwata and Chihiro Fujisaki

Mondo: "hey guys, what are you doing here?" He asks putting Akemi on the ground and getting back on his feet

Leon: "Chihiro and I was taking a walk for past as long as we have you here"

Akemi jumps into Chihiro's arms causing him to giggle

Chihiro: "hey Akemi, cute as always" he says stroking him

Leon: "So you're here to take Akemi for a walk, huh?" He ask, petting the puppy too who kept wagging his tail

Mondo: "yeah, he really likes coming here, so when I can I always take him there"

Leon: "Are we sure it's not his 'owner' likes this place?" He mockingly asks raising an eyebrow

Mondo: "s-shut up!"

Leon: "ok ok" he chuckles

Chihiro: "anyway, are you okay Mondo? We saw you behaving strangely, did something happen? "

Mondo: "no nothing happened, I'm fine"

Leon: "If so, why did we hear you swear as usual?"

Mondo: "Oi! What do you mean by that?"

Leon: "I just say that when you are angry or frustrated he starts to swear, so unless you are go crazy it is clear that there is something that troubles you" he replied seriously

Modno remains silent, since when this idiot become intelligent?
But partly he's right, it was part of his character of him to behave like that if there was something that troubled him, in that moment he had something that troubled him

Chihiro: "Mondo, you know you can talk to us, right? We are your friends and if you need we can help you"

Leon: "Chi's right" he smiled

Mondo: sighs slightly "at this point I guess I'll just tell you.... you know that I told you about.... This new friend that I see every now and then?"

Leon: "yes, what about him?"

Mondo: "well.... it's been a few months.... and I think I have feelings for him...."

Chihiro: "*gasp* do you have a crush? This is so cute!" He said happy

Mondo: "I guess so... but it can't work"

Leon: "why do you say that?"

Mondo: "and you ask Leon? I like another guy, it will never work!"

Leon and Chihiro look at each other for a few seconds with a 'are you serious?' look, Then they go back to their friend

Leon: "Mondo, I remind you that Chihiro is dating a boy, and he himself is a boy"

Chihiro: "In addition you told us yourself that you are bisexual, so it's normal in your situation to feel that way for a boy"

Mondo: "That's not the point, I don't know if he feels the same way too, and I don't want to fuck it up our friendship if I tell him!"

Leon and Chihiro sighing thinking about how they made friends with an idiot like him

Leon: "listen, you and this friend meet here almost every day, right?"

Mondo: "more or less yes"

Leon: "well, the next time you meet him you can try to tell him how you feel in order to find out if he like you too"

Mondo: "Are you sure it's a good idea?"

Chihiro: "believe us it's the best thing if you do this, you at least try and if it's not good you can stay friends, and if he's really a good friend he'll accept you anyway"

World: ".......I guess I can try"

Leon: "this is the spirit man, and if it's not okay you can come to me and cry on my shoulder"

Mondo: "said the boy who continues to be friendzond by the pop stat" laughs mockingly

Leon: "h-hey what was that sopoust to mean!?"

The three boys sat there on the beach talking for a few minutes, trying to get Mondo to make his move as soon as possible.

Chihiro: "hey Monfo I'm curious, who is this guy you like?" he asks while still holding Akemi on her lap, who in the meantime had fallen asleep

Leon: "is maybe someone from our school?"

Mondo: "no, he's a guy I met by chance, if you can say so"

Chihiro: "I understand, can you tell us what he looks like he?"

Mondo: "well, he have raven spiky hair, two gorgeous red eyes... and a beautiful smile...."

Chihiro: 'raven spiky hair and red eyes?.... it sound like..... it can't be... don't tell me that....' I think while he was thinking about who Mondo is referring to

Leon: "'Gorgeous red eyes and a beautiful smile', huh? Someone is really in love~" he says, nudging him slyly.

Mondo: "Shut up, Leon" he says blushing vigorously making the other boy laugh

Another few minutes passed and the sky began to get darker

Leon: "it would be better to come back, it's starting to get late"

Mondo: "good idea, come on Akemi let's go home" he says while the puppy welds from Chihiro's arms to Mondo's "see you tomorrow at school guys"

Leon: "of course, see you tomorrow, Mondo"

Chihiro: "bye!"

The two see their friend go away as they walk to the opposite side starting to talk to each other

Leon: "Do you think he was referring to the person I think?"

Chihiro: "I think so Leon, the description is the one of him, just him have raven hair and red eyes, but to be sure I have to talk to him about it"

Leon: "but if it's was really him the one who he was talking about, why didn't he just tell us it's a triton?"

Chihiro: "It is not obvious? only a few know of our existence, and if someone tries to say it they would never believe them, so in the situation in which Mondo is concerned it is obvious that he has omitted that detail"

Leon: "as in your case that only I know what you really are, right?"

Chihiro: "Exactly, but now it's better that you go home Leon, your parents might worry if they don't see you coming back"

Leon: "meh, by now they're used to my exit times, but you're right"

Chihiro smiles and walks towards the water and with one hand affirms the necklace he had around his neck

Chihiro: "I wish I was a triton" in a second his legs emit a little white light and they turned into a triton's tail "see you tomorrow, Leon"

Leon: "sure thing Chi, and let me know if our intuition is right"

Chihiro: "Of course! Bye!"

After saying goodbye Chihiro disappears under the water as Leon goes on his way to his home
