I ran as fast as my legs could take me after receiving a call from my dad saying that Isabella was stabbed in prison.

"She has lost a lot of blood and we need a donner before tomorrow or else... We can't save her" I heard the doctor saying to Isabella's mom when I got to the hospital. Her eyes had turned red from crying.

"Oh lord! My blood doesn't match hers" Mrs. Lara (Bella's mom) said.

"What's her blood type?" my dad asked

" A plus" Mrs. Lara responded

"Then Katerina can donate" dad said making my heart skip a little.

"You're Isabella's sister right?" the doctor asked coming out of the lab with a file. They already took my blood.

"yes.. Stepsister" I replied

"No... I mean blood sister" the doctor replied. He obviously thought we were blood sisters because of our resemblance.

"No, we're step sisters"

"That's... impossible" he said "is she adopted?"

"I'm the one who's adopted" I replied "why do you ask? "

"Well, from the blood samples... You're siblings" I was a bit confused and taken aback.

"Oh Mrs. Lara you're here" the doc said to Isabella's mom who walked up to us "I don't understand why your blood doesn't match your daughters' "

Bella's mom was quiet for some time. She didn't say anything.

She took a seat on the bench and began crying.

"I'm not her birth mother" I was marvelled. I'm sure Isabella didn't know this. I can't imagine what will happen when she finds out she was adopted.

It was already 10pm and I was still in the hospital. We were all still in the hospital. Dad had asked if I wanted to go home but I refused.

I kept asking myself if what the doctor said was true. "Could Isabella actually be my sister?". The fact she's adopted makes the whole thing possible.

"You should go home and sleep" someone said. At first I thought it was my dad but it was Tayo. He stood in front of me. I wanted to stand up and hug him, I needed a hug right now.

As if he read my mind, he opened his arms as a sign for a hug.

I stood up and embraced him. Tears rolled down my cheeks and I dug my face in his shoulder.

"it's okay. She'll be fine" he pat me on the back.

After the long hug, we sat on the waiting bench outside and talked.

"Don't you want to go and see her?" I asked Tayo

"you said she's sleeping right? There's no rush. I'll be here everyday" he smiled charmingly. It was as if we never broke up.

"Why did you come so late?" I asked 'cause it was nearly mid night already.

"I don't know. But at least, I came" he shrugged

"yeah" I said grinning ear to ear.

"I never apologized for the way things ended" he said after awhile

"Can we just forget about it? I always knew you loved Bella, it was partially my fault for agreeing to be your girlfriend in the first place" it was true. After we broke up, I had a lot of time to think and I knew I should have never agreed and do you know what else I found out?
Is that I love Tayo.

"It was still my fault, you just... look a lot like her" he said

"Tayo, even if we were sisters.. Biological sisters, we can never be the same person"

"yeah, I realized that" he simply said

"So, aren't Daniel and Sandra coming to see her?" I tried changing the topic

"They'll come, maybe tomorrow I guess" he said

"okay... " I didn't know what else to say.

"I should get going before my mom thinks I was kidnapped or something" we both laughed a little to that.

We stood up and shared a brief hug.

"If you need anything, please call me" he said

"Yeah, I will" I smiled as I watched him walk away.

***Following day***

I watched Isabella as she slept peacefully, I held her right hand and thought of the possibility of us being sisters.

I saw this coming, I tried warning her. I just home she doesn't die the way she did in my dream.

The door swung open, revealing someone I least expected to see.

Joshua Stevens...

"Oh my God Joshua when did you get back from the US?" I asked with surprise registered on my face

"Yesterday" he couldn't take his eyes off of Bella who was still unconscious. It was obvious that he cared.

As of it was planned, Bella opened her eyes and her first word was "Joshua"

"Bella, thank God you're... awake" I said with glee

She smiled weakly still looking at a dumbfounded Joshua.

"Stephanie is dead, she's gone" that was an the next thing I heard Josh say. "I came to tell you she's dead. Isabella she's gone"

Bella's face went pale.

"How?... When?... " I fought the tears trying to escape my eyes. Steph was my best friend.

Josh immediately stormed out of the room and Bella tried getting to run after him but I stopped her.

She cried bitterly. "Joshua! " she called out alerting the nurses and doctors who came in immediately.

"So you're not my mom?" Bella asked Mrs. Lara after she told her the truth.

"yes" Mrs. Lara tried to stop herself from crying. Bella didn't seem like she was going to cry anytime soon.

"So who are my parents?" she asked

"I don't know, I woke up one morning and heard... a baby crying" Mrs. Lara began "so I went outside and found you at my doorstep, with a note saying I should take care of you. I was confused and scared too. I took you the orphanage, then, Joy was still very little I didn't plan on having another child 'cause you're dad was never around. So I left you at the orphanage and left. I never had peace of mind, I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking about that child let down. So finally I went back and adopted you, and raised you"

"I don't know what to say" said Bella who was surprised.

The doctor walked into the room with an envelope in his hand.

"the DNA test is ready" he said before giving the envelope to my dad.

"what DNA test?" we all ask in unison.

Dad kept quiet and read whatever was written on the piece of paper he held before looking up at me.

"What's that?" I asked out of curiosity

He smiled and said "This confirms that you and Bella are sisters, biological sisters"

I know someone of us saw that coming ☺
