ISABELLA

10 missed calls.

It's a good thing I silenced my phone last night 'cause Sandra wouldn't stop calling me.

Yes, Sandra was my best friend but sometimes I prefer a sound sleep to her midnight chit chat.
She was probably calling to tell me what she would want to buy at the mall and blah blah blah...

In order to be a good best friend, I'll call her back.

(Ringing)

"Sandra, I saw your missed calls. What's the problem? This better be important 'cause I ----"

"Bella I'm pregnant" she was crying.

Pregnant?

This can't be. It's a just a silly joke.

But she's crying...

"I... How?..." I was short of words. I've never been in a situation like this and I don't know what to say.

"Bella I don't know what to do... My parents.... "

"Calm down" I said. I was not even calm myself. "tell me, how did this happen?"

"I missed my period and I went to the doctor yesterday and he confirmed that I'm pregnant... Bella my parents don't know and they're going to..." she wasn't able to finish her sentence because tears took over.

I saw myself crying as well. How could she let such a thing happen. How could she be so stupid.

"Sandra who... " I choked on my tears "who's the... father?"

Silence...

Prolonged silence...

"Sandra are you there?"

"Bella I'll talk to you later. We'll see at the mall, I really have to go now" she cut the call before I could respond.

I wiped the tears off my face.

Before throwing myself on the bed as I faced the ceiling and kept wondering if this was a nightmare.

Sandra wasn't dating anyone so I had no clue who the father of her child was. She didn't even seem to like any guy so far.

Sandra, what have you gotten yourself into?

I wasn't expecting her to come to the mall today but she said she was going to come.
Maybe she only wanted to speak to me one on one.

I still can't believe this...

Now, I didn't feel like going anywhere anymore. But I didn't want to disappoint Joshua or Daniel 'cause he's been looking forward to this day.

"please you guys should behave yourself when they get here oo" that was mum talking about her fiancee and his daughter's arrival which was still tomorrow.

"mum you can can say 'Isabella behave yourself when they get here' instead of pretending you're talking to Joy and I" I said before changing the channel from NTA to Zeeworld. Joy and I were seated in the sitting room.

My mom still thinks I'll do something crazy when her fiancee gets her. I wouldn't blame her though, something like that has happened before.

"I was watching that you know" Joy retorted.

"only old people watch NTA" I replied.

Mom didn't reply to what I said probably because she was in the kitchen.

"do you remember what happened that Christmas Mr. Gbenga came over?" joy asked after awhile making me to smile.

"that was the best Christmas ever" I replied with and we both laughed so hard on remembering what I did.

It was four years ago, and my parents just got divorced when Mr. Gbenga, my mom's coworker started coming to our house too often. I was like, twelve years old then. I thought he wanted to come and replace my dad by marrying my mom.

So, it was Christmas and he came as usual. I wanted to get rid of him so I went out and got a bunch of earth worms and when it was time to eat, I innocently offered to help Maria, our cook in dishing out the food.

It was rice and sauce so I made sure I was the one who served Mr. Gbenga. Of course I didn't forget to add the finishing touches... the long, dirty, live worms.

I mean, what's a meal without earthworms right?

We started eating and he was lucky he saw the worms before putting a spoon in his mouth. He kept shouting while I was laughing. Of course, I got beating of my life but the man never came back again and that was my goal.

Joy and I were still laughing when I looked up to the wall clock and it was already past twelve.

I contemplated on whether to tell joy about Sandra's pregnancy or not before I thought against it.

I need to speak to her first.

I went back to my room to get ready for the day. I just hope Daniel would let me go on my date. He can be really tricky at times.

KATERINA

I still can't believe my dad is actually pushing through with the whole marriage thing. It's just too life changing and uncomfortable.

I'm going to meet my soon-to-be step mom and here kids tomorrow. I tried asking my dad about her and turns out he doesn't know much about her or he just didn't want to tell me.

Wait...

What if I become Cinderella...

My step-mom kills my dad and makes me become a slave to her and her evil daughters. Then the only friends I'll have would be a bunch of rats and birds that'll fly into my window. And I wouldn't be allowed to go to the ball!!!

You might find it ridiculous but those thoughts actually ran through my head.

Well... Maybe it's because I'm watching Cinderella right now.

Don't judge me, 'cause my dad is sitting next to me and he's watching too.

"don't worry your step-mom won't be like this one" my dad knows me too well.

"how'd you know what I was thinking?"

"I know you too well, if you're not talking then it means you're deep in thoughts" dad replied

"that's why I love you" I smiled

"and that's the same thing you said when I bought you that laptop" that's my dad for you. In his late forties but acts like a teenager.

"very funny dad, now can I change this channel? Why do you even like this cartoon?" I asked motioning towards the TV.

"I like it because it reminds me of my real life princess" I didn't need someone to tell me he was talking about me.

I love my dad!

"Aww, thanks dad" I was such a daddy's girl I know.

Someone knocked on the door and I got up to get it. I wondered who it could be.

I swung the doors open and you wouldn't believe who it was.

"Tayo what are you doing here?" he was well dressed like he was going somewhere.

He was putting on white hoodie with a black pair of skinny jeans and leather boots to match.

He looked so handsome and sexy with high Afro cut.

"Katerina who's there?" dad asked

"er... It's my... friend" why was I nervous?

"then tell the person to come in na" dad said. I let Tayo in and he greeted my dad in the most polite way possible.

Right now I feel like my boyfriend is meeting my dad for the first time and I'm scared my dad wouldn't approve of him.

That was how I felt right now.
Don't call me weird.

"and she's not dressed?" dad asked out of the blue.

Okay, maybe it wasn't out of the blue since I was lost in thought and I didn't hear what Tayo told dad.

"what?" I was obviously lost

"he said you and some friends planned on going to the Ikeja mall today and you're not dressed" dad explained.

First of all, what the hell is Tayo saying?
Secondly, we didn't plan on going anywhere.

I turned to Tayo and he gave me a look that said I should play along.

"I didn't know if you'd agree" I lied.

"why won't I agree, you never go out with friends and I'm glad you already made friends at your new school" he paused "what are you still waiting for, go and change. Can't you see the handsome bobo waiting for you?"

With that, I ran up the stairs immediately.

"you should have told me before coming" I said to Tayo when we entered the car.

And no, he wasn't driving. He came with his driver.

"well..., I wanted to surprise you" Tayo smiled charmingly and I returned the smile with a chuckle.

I could see the driver stealing glances at us through the rear view mirror.

"don't worry I'm not kidnapping you" he chuckled softly.

We finally got to the Ikeja mall and Tayo received a phone call and he answered immediately.

"I'm already here, where are you guys?" he asked ............. "okay I'll soon be there"

I was a little disappointed thinking he had brought me on a date.

But who was here with us?, it better not be who I'm thinking...

ISABELLA

I was totally slaying my my outfit right now. I was wearing a red fitted top tucked in a high waist jeans with a red hat to match.

"so where is he?" I asked Daniel as soon as he got off the phone with Tayo.

"he's already here" Daniel replied
"okay, Sandra said she'll be late" I informed Dan.

Sandra finally showed up looking as normal as possible. She didn't look different to me.

I made a mental note to talk with her later. I didn't want to bring up the topic with Daniel here.

We were in the cafeteria and Daniel had gone to get our food. Leaving Sandra and I at the table.

I was about to speak to Sandra who was typing mindlessly on her phone when Tayo appeared with Katerina walking beside him.

This is unbelievable!

Why did he have to bring that good for nothing...

"hey peeps" Tayo greeted

Sandra looked up and smiled before greeting them both.

I faked a smile and simply said "hey". I saw Katerina roll her eyes before taking a seat beside Tayo.

Daniel came back with our food and drinks and I seemed to be the only one who hated Katerina's presence. Tayo just acted like I was invisible.

We were all talking about everything and anything when suddenly, Tayo asked Katerina to be his girlfriend.

"will you be my girlfriend?" was all he said and trust me, that's the worst way possible to ask a girl to be your girlfriend but then again, it's Tayo. I'm sure it took all the courage he had so say that.
Katerina was dumbfounded for some seconds before she nodded her head "yes" and Tayo did the most surprising thing by kissing her.

"Aww! This is amazing!" that was Sandra talking. Now people were starting to stare and taking pictures.

"that's my boy!" that was Daniel shouting.

I immediately stood up and left.

I won't deny it, yes, I was jealous. In fact, right now jealously is an understatement.

But why was I feeling this way? Maybe it's because I'm used to Tayo crushing on me and now he was with someone I disliked.

I pulled out my phone and called Joshua.

"hey, can you come to the Ikeja mall? That's where I am" he agreed and I cut the call.

Katerina, let the games begin...
