Chapter 44
Chapter 44
"So.. it's Blake's birthday tomorrow." She said after a few seconds of silence.
"Oh..really?" I asked, somewhat uninterested but I didn't wanna be too rude, especially after these things she's done for me.
I'll never understand why she's acted the way she has with me, but whatever.
She nodded. "We're planning to throw a party for him tomorrow. I was just wondering if you'd like to come?"
I heard a few giggles near us.
It didn't take me long to realize we weren't alone.
"Why isn't it the little nerd girl?"
A voice I recognized said in a snarky voice.
"Clarissa.." Audrey sucked in her breath as she said her name in response.
"What do you want?" I interjected.
"How about you stay out of this Isaac, and let me talk?" Clarissa fired back.
She gave Audrey a glare.
"I just want you to know, that you better stay the hell away from Leo, or I swear I'll make your life a living hell!" She walked closer to Audrey, but her friends blocked her path.
I was about to say something back but Audrey started walking away from them, so I followed her, glaring at Clarissa as I did so.
"I really.. don't know what I've done to have her hate me so much." Audrey said, I could tell she was frustrated as well as I was.
"I'm not gonna let her do anything to you, so just ignore her okay?"
Audrey sighed softly but smiled lightly.
"Okay.. But anyway, will you come to the party?" she asked, sounding somewhat hopeful.
"Yes."
I replied pretty quickly, without thinking twice.
"Yeah, I'll be there-"
"Be where?" Blake appeared out of nowhere, and asked cluelessly.
"Nowhere.." I said, Blake stared at me confused.
I sighed quietly in relief.
"Okay..." The boy said.
"Tomorrow is going to be special though, do you know why Auntie?!" The boy beamed, immediately forgetting about what Audrey and I were talking about a few moments ago.
Audrey looked at Blake acting clueless.
"What day will it be tomorrow? Blakey?" She asked.
"From what I remember I think tomorrow's going to be a regular Saturday."
His smile fell a little.
"Oh.."
"Blake! There you are! Sorry Audrey, we lost Blake for a quick second, hope he didn't hear about the whole surp- OW! Jenna!" The girl I recognized as Darcy grabbed her arm after Jenna elbowed her when she was about to ruin the whole surprise.
"Yeah- its fine we were done talking." Audrey grabbed Blake's hand as they started walking to a Lamborghini that had stopped by. I'm assuming to pick them up.
I started making a turn to the other direction until Audrey's voice stopped me.
"Do you- do you need a ride home?" She asked, scooting over to the other side, leaving an empty seat.
"I'm good I can walk to my house." I quickly turned down the offer.
"Are you sure? We wouldn't mind taking you home, I mean its only a few minutes away from my house." She rubbed the back of her neck.
"Please?" The younger boy begged.
"Please, please, please?" he continued to plead until Audrey tightened her grip on his shoulders.
"Blake, please calm down." She said, a laugh threatening to escape her lips.
"But I really wanna spend time with my uncle." Blake freed from her grip before leaping out of the vehicle.
"What the hell are you doing- Hey!"
Blake giggled as he pushed me onto the backseats where Audrey was.
Audrey caught me as I was pushed to her side before I could fall.
I cursed as I fell something underneath my shoes causing me to slip and drop my weight onto her as I fell on her.
I noticed a small blush appear on her face, I could feel my own face heat up as well since I was basically on top of her.
I looked at her face, for once actually having a good look at it, was she always this pretty? Wait what the fuc-
I looked away from her and realized people were staring.
I just realized her driver had already started to drive, it was too late to get out of the car.
I quickly got off of her and sat on my seat, ignoring the chattering I heard outside.
"Yay!" The boy cheered.
"What?" I asked him, staring at my phone.
"You're staying!" he declared, as if it were a super obvious fact.
"I never said that," I argued, rolling my eyes and shaking my head, until realization hit.. The car had already started moving I couldn't get out I was actually stuck with these people.
"Hey what's this?" He asked, peeking at my phone.
"Just a game I'm playing." I mumbled, grumbling when I lost.
"Ooohh can I play?" He reached for my phone but I kept it out of his reach.
"How about you play with your cat or whatever this is?" I handed Blake his stuffed animal- cat looking thing.
"No!! I wanna play the game. Can you teach me? Please???" He begged.
"If it'll get you to stop jumping up and down and to sit down, fine." I sighed.
He nodded and immediately sat down.
I sighed before I began to teach him the basics.
"Basically in this game, you're in some spaceship."
"You're either an imposter or a crewmate." The kid stared at me puzzled. I took a deep breath as I patiently continued to explain.
"If you're a crewmate, you need to do tasks.."
"What are tasks?" He asked, staring blankly at the screen.
I groaned.
This was going to take a while.
~
"No!!!!"
I winced as the kid screamed after getting killed.
"Is it really necessary to be so loud?" I mumbled.
"This is hard!" Blake whined, frowning as he looked at his character's dead body.
"Oooooh I'm a ghost now!!" He giggled as he flew around in the map.
"Can you help me with.. these rock thingys?" Blake asked as he showed me an asteroids task he had.
"Sure." I started shooting the asteroids, cursing when an emergency meeting was called in the game.
"What is that?" Blake asked.
"They called a meeting."
"What are meetings for?" The boy asked curiously.
"They're going to talk and try to find out who the impostor is."
"It's Black!!!!" He squealed.
"It's Black! Black!" He smashed the words BLACK over and over again on the keyboard.
"They can't see what you're saying.. You're dead." I chuckled the last bit.
"Oh." He frowned and settled down.
"Guess we have to wait for them to figure it out on their own." I said, looking away from the phone.
I looked at Audrey, who was smiling as the breeze coming from the car window blew against her skin.
I noticed a smile form on her face as the driver turned on the radio.
She started singing along to the song as it played, I was honestly impressed with how good her singing was. Her singing voice was much softer than her regular speaking voice.
"Hey!! Hey!! I still need help!" Blake continuously tugged my shirt trying to grab my attention back into the game.
Audrey turned around and looked at us, I realized that the car had stopped by my house.
I took my seat belt off, and hopped out of the car.
"See you tomorrow," I said quietly enough for only Audrey to hear, she gave a nod before the car made a turn and drew away. Before the car was out of my sight though Blake smiled through the window and waved.
I just waved back, guess that little troublemaker wasn't too bad to be around.
I walked around my neighborhood, a few seconds later feeling a strong grip on my arm.
I immediately turned around and slammed whoever it was against a tree, I was always prepared for any random possible attacks.
"Hey, hey, relax." The voice of an older male spoke up.
I looked up at the guy, making eye contact for the first time with him.
I could feel my whole bloodstream rush all over my body when I recognized who he was.
Haha added quite a few among us references to this chapter, so I apologize if you don't know what among us is, its the game Isaac and Blake were playing in this chapter. 😄
