Chapter 42

Tyler was silent, almost thoughtful as well for a second or two before that look was gone and he just chuckled quietly in response, still holding onto Liz.

"Don't worry about me." He said when his face suddenly turned serious. "She's in good hands." Without saying another word, the two exchanged eye contact, neither of them backing down. I almost expected them to break into a fight or something.

There was awkward silence amongst the rest of us, while there was obvious tension between the two as they held their death stares. There was so much tension in the matter of fact, that you could probably cut it with a knife.

"Uh.. Ty.. Joe.." Lizzy stepped in between the two, both of them completely ignoring her.

It wasn't until Ryan jumped in and cleared his throat and he spoke up that they looked away from each other.

"Y'all should really start going to class.. It starts in like 10 seconds."

Jo nodded, walking away from Tyler and Lizzy. "Right. Come on Isaac." He said as we started walking away with Ry.

"Bye Liz. If you ever need anything, you got us 'kay?" He smiled at her, ignoring the scowl he was recieving from Tyler.

As we walked away, I overheard some of Tyler and Lizzy's conversation.

"Who are those kids?" He growled, it gave me the same type of energy Rick gave me when he would question my mom about Matthew, or any man she spoke to. That was never a good thing.

"Just some friends of mine." She assured, smiling. She seemed pretty oblivious to the obvious jealousy in her boyfriend's tone.

"Really? You sure seem to love hanging out with dudes." He 'joked', but I could tell he was pissed over it. Lizzy kissed his cheek, but that frown on his face remained the same.

"They're like brothers.. Don't worry about them." She leaned in for a kiss, but Tyler moved away.

"You know.. I don't really like that dude she's dating." Jonas commented as he glanced over at them.

"You jealous bro?" Ryan teased.

Jonas chuckled."No, I just get vibes from him.. That I don't like at all.."

"I hate to agree with Jo, but I think he's right." I admitted. I watched as he walked away after they had a what seemed like a serious talk.

Lizzy followed close behind with her brothers, trying to call after him but he didn't seem to listen.

"Lizzy's almost 18. I'm sure she can take care of herself." Ryan said as we walked.

"That won't stop me from looking out for my sis." Jonas answered with a smile.

"We gotta take care of our homeboys and homegirls, right Isaac?" He looked at me, the bell rang straight afterwards.

"Shit." I cursed. "We better hurry."

I told him before running to class with them, until I realized something; Emma and Blake were missing.

"Shit. Shit. Shit." I cursed.

"Where's Emma and Blake?" Jonas asked when he too noticed they were gone.

"I don't know!"

Ryan walked over to us. "You guys need help finding them? Or-"

"No, no. I got this. You and Jo go to class. I'll find the kids." I started walking away, stopping when Jonas followed close behind.

"No. My sister is missing too. I can't just go to school all calmly knowing Emma is out there without me. I'm coming with you." He requested, no, he announced.

I sighed before nodding. I had no other choice but to let him, since I knew that when Jonas wanted to do something, he did it. Nothing got in his way.

"Good luck y'all." Ryan said, Jonas mouthing him a "Thanks" before Ryan walked, no, ran to class since he was probably late as fuck already.

"So.. Where exactly could they be?" Jonas thought as we searched through different places.

~

After practically HOURS of searching for them I groaned as I raked my hands through my hair. "Now what? We lost two kids, who could be who knows where! And-"

"Hi uncle. Why are you screaming?"

I stopped myself from going on a full rant after hearing that familiar voice. For once, I was actually glad to hear that kid call me uncle. "Blake! Where the hell were you?" I said, noticing Emma was with him as well.

Jonas crouched down to be Emma's height as he grabbed her shoulders. "Emma! Don't you ever do that again! You had me worried sick here!"

"It's okay Joey! We were with Gabriel!"

Gabriel, who happened to be there, just gave us a awkward half-smile. Neither of us had noticed til now since we were so busy scolding these rascals.

I looked at Jo, who was glaring at Gabriel. Determined not to have to be a bystander of another one of Jonas' deadly staring contests I jumped in.

"Thanks dude, you have no idea how crazy we were getting from not finding them." I told Gabriel, Jonas just narrowed his eyes at him.

"We probably would've found them either way."

"Dude.. Really?" I groaned, both annoyed and confused by Jonas' unnecessary rude attitude towards Gabriel.

"We should get going, the bell already rung like 20 minutes ago." He said as he looked at me, dodging my commentry. I nodded in agreement.

I looked back at Gabriel, but he was already gone. I grabbed Blake's hand, before going to class with him.

~

As we walked inside of class, kids were busy copying down notes as the teacher went through different slides. It was like we had everyone's attention as we entered.

"What? Have you guys never seen peiole or what?" I asked the kids sarcastically.

Mr. Brown paused whatever he was doing as he looked at us as well.
"Why are you guys late now?" he questioned.

"Look, Mr. Brown. We actually have an excuse today. We lost my sister and the kid Isaac brought for 'bring-your-younger-sibling' or whatever it's called day." Aware of Jonas being right, Mr. Brown sighed, since he knew that he couldn't really get upset with us today.

"Just.. Sit down." He began. "You're off the hook for today, but next time, there are no excuses, understand?"

He then continued his lesson.

"Now everyone, let's take a quick pause. A few 9th graders from Mrs. Thomas's class are coming over to present a project they made. I want everyone to be quiet as they present."

We waited for a few minutes for the students to arrive. They eventually came, all professional looking.. Wearing their attires and shit.. Did they really have to go that far-

I stopped my internal monologue noticed that Audrey was part of the students presenting.

I didn't even recognize her at all at first since she looked so different. She was wearing makeup, which I normally didn't see her wearing. Her hair was different too, normally it was down but right now it was in some bun. The clothes she was wearing with different too, she wore a black blazer and some skirt to go along with it.

"Look! It's Audrey!" Blake grinned he spotted Audrey. Everyone clapped politely, as they walked inside the classroom. Blake clapped the loudest.

"Go Audrey!" He cheered quite loudly, everyone's eyes suddenly on the kid, but he didn't care.

"Good afternoon, students." One of the students began. "We're here to bring awareness about mental health."

As they talked, my eyes stayed glued on Audrey. Was that even her?!

She looked really good, I mean, she always looked good but she looked extra good today. Clearly, I wasn't the only one who she got attention from, pretty much everyone's attention was on her.

"Goddamn, she looks so hot." I heard Leo say to his friend Ronald.

"Yeah." Ronald agreed. "Wonder what she'd look like without those clothes-"

"Can you fucking not?" I chimed in as I look over to their desk.

Leo rolled his eyes. "Like always, here to ruin to fun huh?" He groaned. "Don't act like you wouldn't fuck her if you could." He snickered.

"You would, wouldn't you?" Ronald added on with a smug.

"Seriously, you two better keep away from her-" I threatened, not amused by their little jokes.

"You ignored my question. So you would, wouldn't you?" Leo laughed.

Leo has always been a piece of shit. Clearly, that hasn't changed at all.

"How about if we let you join us, huh? Will that make you stop being an annoying ass cunt? We can all share her, then-" I grabbed onto his collar to get him to shut the fuck up.

"I will never stoop that fucking low." I gritted through my teeth, saying each word slowly.

"Woah there, Robinson. Tone it down. You know we're in class right? Wouldn't want to get in trouble while that little fella is here with you, would ya?" He said unfazed, referring to Blake. Knowing he was right, I let go of him.

"I swear to god, if I ever see either of you near her, I'll fucking kill you." I swore, hearing clapping afterwards. I realized that the students were finished presenting.

"Yay!" Blake clapped loudly, even when everyone stopped clapping.

As she walked out with her classmates I looked at Blake.

"Stay here." I instructed the kid, who imitated the soldier's salute before going, 'Yes sir.' I chuckled at the action, getting out of my chair as I followed her outside.

"Hey," I started saying when I caught up to her. She turned to look at me. "Oh hey-"

"Isaac!" I heard a boy's voice interrupt.

"Not now Blake." I said, as I looked at Blake, looking back at Audrey until it hit me. "Didn't I tell you to stay inside?"

"Yeah, but the teacher asked me to tell you to come back to class."

"But-"

"Bye Aunt!" Blake bubbled to Audrey before pushing me back to class. Audrey giggled softly.

"Bye Blake, Bye Isaac." She said.

I was about to go back out, but she was already leaving with everyone else.
