Recently I've stumbled upon the musical Hadestown. It's great. So naturally I had to make some fanart because well, WHY NOT.

Ok so by now, you've probably noticed that one, there's cell shading instead of the soft blended kind I usually use. Two, the lines are all black.

For the lines, well, I got lazy. Also for some reason I like this better with the black lines.

For the shading...

Get comfy, this will be a bit of a long story.

So I tried shading this the way I normally do but for unknown reasons, the yellow kept on turning green in the middle and red on the outer edges. And I mean super-saturated red and green. So I did the only logical thing: got frustrated and went off to sulk while watching YouTube. I found some art videos by LavenderTowne and decided to try cell shading on my drawing. It took a while (read: a VERY long time) but I figured it out. I still think i could do better though.

And that's why my drawing looks like that.
