Chapter Three: Meetings and Leavings

Point of view: Perseus Jackson

The one on the left must be Owen because I don't recognize him. He walks up to me with a huge grin and hugs me. "My dear grandson. How nice it is to finally meet you. I knew you would come along sooner or later. The gods have always been foolish and their arrogance has brought you right to me. Curse or not, I knew you'd come. It is truly a joyous day."
Kronos comes over grumbling. "You don't attack me, eh?"
I don't hug back Owen and they all notice. Owen hugs me closer, trying to get a reaction and I sense a familial bond trying to form. But I don't want anymore ties. I just want to fade. Why can't they let me?
Tartarus frowns. "He fights off all new ties from being formed. Boy, don't you want a better person to love you?"
I start to sever all my old ties and I become more empty. The gods, the seven, the other children of the gods, my mortal family, and finally, myself. I cut that everlasting tie and my body starts to flicker.
"He's fading." Kronos murmurs.
Tartarus sighs and places a hand on my shoulder. My body solidifies and my tie snaps back into place. I gasp and collapse in Owen's arms. He lowers to the floor, my head in his lap as I try to breathe right.
"Let me die, please." I whisper.
They all sit next to me. "Why? We cannot allow that to happen." Tartarus tells me.
"I don't want to be alive anymore. Just let me fade. I'm too broken." I tell him and a tear trails down my face and onto the floor.
Kronos picks me up and carries me into some building.
Ten years later
I scream as the knife digs into me for the countless time. "I'll offer this to you again. Will you join us in destroying Olympus?" Kronos asks me, dragging the knife down my torso.
"Yes." I croak and he releases me.
I fall to the floor and Tartarus kneels down beside me. "Welcome to the family, now rest." He tells me as he places a hand on my forehead. I fall into darkness and sleep.
