"Eyre! I can't believe it! Out of all of us, you'll be getting married first! Oh, but we all kinda knew. Just not so young! What's he like?" Harper, a friend from high school that followed me to my new college, asks me over the phone. I plop myself onto my swivel chair as it make a slight 'squeak' before letting out a sigh.

"I have no idea, Harper. I haven't even met the guy.." I can hear her frown over the phone but it leaves as quick as it came. She giggles and I roll my eyes.

Here we go again.

"Weeellll," She draws the words out. "What would you like in a guy?" I sigh again.

"What are you? A 14 year old girl?" She giggles for the unth time.

"Maaybee~ But c'mon! Answer gurl!"

I think about it.

What would I like in a guy?

"Dunno. I guess a guy who would be there for me, is sweet, and doesn't lie. He has to be handsome but cute at the same time. Uhh... Kind, obviously. He needs to know when to respect a woman's privacy.. And something about him that would be considered... special."

Harper lets out a low whistle. "That's hard to find. And, like, your eyes, special?" She asks over the phone.

"Yeah, you're right." I then peer closer to a small mirror on my desk and closely look at my freak like purple eyes. Their rare shade looks back at me and I close them.

"And sure, Harper. At least then we'd be freaks together.."

"Oh no! I didn't mean it like that! I love your eyes! Truly!" She frets and I chuckle sadly.

"Yeah, I know Harps. Sorry, but I gotta go. Mother wants me to get some extra sleep so that I don't have bags under my eyes for the wedding. You know how I've been having to wear concealer.." Truthfully, college is hard. I took AP classes in world history, bio, Mandarin, French, basically anything I could get my hands on in high school. But that doesn't stop the college professors from having something completely new that we didn't learn in high school. And being the Vesper successor doesn't help.

"'kay, see you tomorrow! I'm sure he'll be just like you'd imagine." Her cheeky voice is heard no more as soon as I end the call. I check the clock hanging from my wall to see that it's only 8 at night.

So early...

"Eyre Avíva Katrín Agnés Cassia Vesper! Go to bed early! You have a busy day tomorrow!" I roll my eyes.

"Yes, mother." I snap and walk to my closet, grabbing a tank top and shorts to hopefully get sick before the marriage. From there, I look out my window, the moonlight shining in.

I wish I can leave this. All of it, and go somewhere where I can do whatever I want. Sure, a place with dragons, magic. A place where the first person I lay eyes on is the one I blindly fall in love with. We'd share some of the same abilities. He'd be just like I imagined and talked to Harper about.. Anywhere is fine! Just not here...

"Heh, like that'll happen.." I remind my 19 year old self and walk into the bathroom attached to my room and slam the door shut. Yes, I'm being pissy, but you try getting married to the person you meet THE NEXT DAY.

I turn the water on, making sure it's hot enough to fog up the room in a matter of minutes. See? Here I am, trying to burn myself before my big day. I strip and walk into the shower, flinching before relaxing under the scalding water. My mind runs through everything that's happened. Especially the weird crackling sound outside my bathroom.

Wait.

What?

~*~ Flashback~*~

"Eyre, if there ever comes a time where you are in danger follow these rules. 1) You must make sure there is an emergency bag near you. Now, we've put one in every room. Your room and bathroom included. We're a rich family and although it'd take a lot to get into the mansion, we must alway be prepared for the worst. The bags have a phone with our numbers in them. And we decided to put in some of the latest songs and games to keep you company. They're updated monthly. There is also a solar charger in case of emergency." Father informs me as I shuffle my foot, hesitantly nodding my head. Mother continues after father. "2) You have to learn how to protect yourself. So, the bags have two guns in them, each. There are enough extra bullets that would last you a life time. We've had you kidnapped and found twice already. Let's not make it happen again. Now, we've scheduled lessons on shooting guns. It's this evening at 4. You'll learn the basics, then some tricks, then how to shoot in the dark and such." She finishes and I look down.

"Okay..."

~*~ Flashback End~*~

Over the years, I got bratty and demanded my parents to make sure there is nail polish, make up, anything beauty product related, in the bag as well as top quality head phones. ... It was a phase! They're probably still in there..

Now where would father make the servants hid the bags...

I wonder as the crackling of fire grows stronger, as if the whole mansion is on fire. I keep the water running to make them think that I'm still in it while I rush to the cabinet under the sink. I throw open the doors and sure enough, there's a slightly large duffel bag. I look behind me to grab a towel and wrap it around myself. My hair is wet and drips onto the floor, but I pay no mind. The bag is thrown over my shoulder and I swing the bathroom doors open, a gun ready in hand with the other still in the heavy bag.

Darkness.

All I see is complete darkness.

I step out, shaking ever so slightly.

"H-hello?" I speak out and a glowing fire illuminates in the distance. I walk closer and closer to it, forgetting everything. My grip on the gun tightens and I take another step.

Snap.

Out of fear, I shriek and fire my gun at where I heard the snap, which, was right where my foot had been previously. The bang goes off loud and clear and the next thing I know, something is on top of me.

"Who are you and what are you doing here!" The person on top of me shouts. His right arm is a pure white with scales, like a dragon's. His hair is silver and his eyes? A beautiful ocean blue. His nails dig into my neck, blood seeps out, and tears leak out of my eyes.

"Kija! Let her go!" A girl yells and soon, the nails loosen and the weight atop me is lifted. I shrink back, frightened. The girl's face is hidden slightly by a cloak, but underneath is a traditional kimono. I suddenly bump into legs and I look up, the tears in my eyes and my hair still dripping wet. Above me is another man with black hair and a piercing glare like knives. He had a spear in his hand, positioned right above my head. My eyes grow wide and I scream again.

"Hak! Put that away! You're scaring her!" The girl's voice yells again and two people click their tongue.

"Honestly, let the bishounen handle this." A younger boy's voice says. His hair is slightly tan and the left front fringe is kinda pinned back by two pink feathers. He's wearing clothes that look fit for a Native American. My grip on the gun doesn't falter, but the towel wrapped around me loosens slightly. The younger boy crouches in front of me.

"Who are you?" He asks plainly. I close my eyes and count my breathing before opening them again and speaking.

"Eyre Vesper." He nods his head and is gently pushed away by a red haired girl. She holds her hand out for me to take and I gladly grab ahold of it. Or, that's what my intention was. The one that had jumped onto me stands in front of her, slightly defensive. He glares at me and I pull my hand back.

"Kija." The girl warns and he reluctantly steps back, but keeps a close eye on me. She smiles and I finally take her hand. Once up, I notice the warming fire a few feet away. I shiver, my body remembering the cold. The younger one takes notice.

"As much as I don't trust you, we need answers, and you dying of hypothermia isn't going to help us." The girl leads me to the fire and I practically collapse in front of it. It's just been too eventful. First thing I know, I'm in my nice, cozy, mansion taking a shower. Next, I'm in the middle of the forest, surrounded by strangers that want to kill me, and still dripping wet while being half naked. A few minutes pass of me blankly staring at the fire before the girl speaks up.

"Eyre, where did you come from? And why are you wet? There isn't a river for miles and it isn't even raining." My gaze lowers from the fire before looking up at the sky.

"Honestly? I have no idea. I was taking a shower in my mansion just only a few seconds ago... Then, here I am. I-I don't know how I got here. I don't know where I am. I'm suppose to get married tommorow!" Tears gather in my eyes and then next thing I know, I'm crying. They look taken aback for a second before the girl leans forwards and hugs me, reassuring me that I'm alright. I can still sense their uneasiness and distrust. Who wouldn't? A random girl, half naked, appears right next to you. What else are you going to do?

I take a few more minutes to cry my eyes out, to relieve some stress, and all the while the girl is comforting me. When the tears stop, I pull myself away from her. She smiles.

"My name is Yona." She says and holds out her hand. I take and shake it greatfuly.

"E-Eyre." I introduce myself again. The youngest steps forward.

"This bishounen is Yun. Now I have a few more questions for you." I nod my head, letting him proceed.

"What's that in your hand?" I tighten the loose towel around me before answering.

"It's a Beretta M9, semiautomatic, 9mm, short recoil, 50 m range, 15 round pistol with a silencer. Although the silencer doesn't do much in the real world unlike Jame Bond's, it's still quite useful and you can't detect where the sound comes from in a slightly crowded area. Like this forest, for example." It takes a moment for them to let the information to sink in before Yun shakes his head to shrug off the confusion and continues on.

"Where were you previously, before you... teleported, I suppose."

"America. In my mansion." Their looks turn confused so I take a look around.

"Where's here?"

"We're close to the Hakuyruu's village." Yona answers this time.

"Oi, hime-sama. Don't tell her so much. She may be a spy." The one with the spear says but Yona shakes her head.

"Everyone thinks that I've died with you when we fell off that cliff. I have even told her my name, yet her face didn't show any sign of surprise or recognition. And besides.." She turns to face me. "I have a feeling we can trust her."
