The one in which; he was her one and only

I already kinda did one like this already but why not? And AGAIN I remember reading something like this but can't remember where

It was just one touch. Just a touch of a hand on an arm. But everything isn't that simple, is it? His armed moved through her like it was the only thing that he had ever worshipped. Archie Andrews stared at Betty Cooper as if she was a bright star amongst a group of clouds. Like she was the light of his life. Like she was beautiful. And of course, she was. But it was Jughead's job to worship her and it made him sick to his stomach to watch that red-haired bulldog caress his perfect girlfriend's head and hair.

"How is it so soft?" Archie grinned, running his hands through her long blond curls that today hung around her shoulders because of a fatal hairband snap in the 2nd period. The simple actions made Jughead's stomach turn, and not just because of the food he was eating, but as he watched the two from across the table, he became jealous. What was Archie even doing, sitting in his seat? They didn't have any specified seating or anything but it was an unwritten, unspoken rule that Betty and Jug sat together at one side of the table while Archie, Kevin, and Veronica sat at the other side, so they can 'witness first-hand bughead moments' - as Kevin had told them once. But for some reason, just because Kevin was sick and Veronica was in New York, Archie had plopped himself down into Jughead's seat, banishing him to the other side of the table.

Betty let out a cute little laughed as Archie ran his finger through her hair, wrapping it around his fingers then letting the curl fall loosely around her neck and onto her shoulders. She caught Jughead's eye for a moment, and she could see that he had a stone cold glare set upon Archies hand's that were buried in her hair. She could sense that he angry and slightly uncomfortable, but she wasn't quite sure why.

"You want to feel it Juggie? You seem tense" the clueless blond asked her boyfriend, ducking her head out of the way so Archie couldn't put his hands back through her ponytail. She got up and went to sit down next to him and he put a protective (and possessive) arm around her waist.

"No thanks, I get to run my hand through your hair all the time when we are alone," he said bluntly as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Jughead glared at Archie over the table, who was doing the same back at him. Still completely oblivious to their silent war, Betty sighed.

"Oh okay then," she said, frowning slightly. The thought of asking them what was wrong crossed her mind, but she ignored it when Jughead pulled her onto his lap protectively. The thought was soon forgotten and she went back to chatting with Archie for the rest of the lunch break.

The remainder of the day past quickly for the girl next door, but not for the boy from the other side of the tracks. He couldn't help but notice all the small looks and touched Archie continually gave Betty. He was angered beyond reason now. What the hell did he think he was doing?! Betty gave him a chance to be with her and he rejected her. Now that she loved him he finally wanted her? The one positive thing that Jughead had going for him in life was trying to be ripped out from under his feet. All Jughead could think about through the rest of the day is how Archie was now competing with him for Betty's love.

Jughead's jealousy was fueled even more when Archie invited himself along to their date that night at the drive in. Archie couldn't get it through his thick skull that they were going to the drive-in for a date!

While driving there, in FP's truck, Betty sat in the front while Jughead drove and Archie had been banished to the back seat where he was labeled a third wheel. As they drove, Jughead held onto her hand tightly, whispering sweet little nothings into her ear making her blush slightly. The whole time he ignored the eyerolls and clenched jaw from Archie, who was in the backseat glaring daggers into Jughead.  Jughead didn't care though, in fact, he wanted Archie to be jealous of him and Betty.

When they finally arrived, Jughead was determined to block out Archie through-out the movie. Luckily Archie was in the back seat and couldn't really do anything without disrupting the whole movie or climbing over the seat.

As the movie played on, Jughead could see Archie giving him a death stare but all Jughead could do was smirk at him. That was of course until Archie reached forward to grab something from the front seat and knocked Betty's milkshake from her cup holder onto her seat. The pink liquid spilled everywhere.

"Oh sorry Betts, I'll go and grab some napkins to wipe this up," he exclaimed, "here, sit here in the back with me while I go and grab some napkins to clean this up."

Betty slowly rose from her seat, reluctant to sit in the back with Archie, as he climbed out of the car and started to walk to the concession stand. A frown appeared on her face when she noticed Jughead, wearing an expression quite like the one he had a lunch.

"He didn't mean to Jug," she spoke softly with a calming tone as she moved to the edge of her seat so Jughead could turn around to face her. "It was just an accident."

"Was it Betts?," Jughead commented in a sarcastic tone, "I love you and all, but have you noticed that he has been all over you all day? Hell, it's been going on all week! It's clear to me that he likes you and is going to take you away from me."

"Juggie what are you talki - "

"Seriously, come one! He has been by your side 24/7 lately. Can you not see the stares he has been giving us when we are happy together. There's always little touches going on. Like the other night when I slept over at your house, when we woke up he was at your doorstep straight away. Even now! You really think that he spilled his drink on your chair by accident, then letting you sit in the back with him, while I'm in the front seat?" Jughead ranted breathlessly.

The shocked look on Betty's face confirmed that she had been oblivious the whole time. But now that it had been said straight to her face, Betty finally understood why Jughead had been so upset and angry lately, whenever Archie was around.

While Betty thought all of the new information over, Jughead was internally freaking out. What if Betty didn't believe him and thought that he was just clingy. What if she liked Archie in return. He wouldn't be surprised. She would finally have the perfect relationship that she had always wanted.

Randomly, Betty crawled through the gap between the front seats, but instead, on sitting on her old seat she sat on jugheads lap, so her back was against the door and her head was against his chest.

He felt her warm hands intertwine with his.

"Let's get out of here Juggie before he comes back," she smiled gently, caressing his cheek with one hand. She opened the door and was about to jump out when Archie returned.

"Hey, where are you guys going?" he asked them, his gaze shifting from their intermined hands to glaring at Jughead then smiling sweetly at Betty.

"Oh um, we just remembered that we left some clues about G&G at school and we need to get them before someone else can get their hands on them," she replied calmly, sweet as ever. "Sorry Archie, but we really need to go, see you on Monday, I guess."

"Oh and you can drive home if you want, I'll pick the car up tomorrow," Jughead added, chucking the keys into the clean cup holder.

The couple then proceeded to walk out of the drive-in, holding hands before they could hear the definite sound of shoes running along the gravel that covered the ground of the car park.

"Wait up guys, I'll come with you!" Archie exclaimed, grinning at the pair.

"Sorry but we don't need you to come with us, in fact, we don't want you to come with us," Jughead said lowly, his voice grave with anger.

"Woah Woah Woah," Archie said, holding his hand above his head in mock surrender, "What's the matter with you?"

"What's the matter with me? What about you? You keep on hitting on my girlfriend and you never give us some time alone. For god's sake you all over her all the time!" shouted Jughead who received some dirty looks from the nearby movie viewers.

Archie looked a little worried about the way that Jughead had just confronted him about his feelings towards Betty while she was standing there but quickly recovered and tried to play it off cool.

"Okay, I guess you got me. I do like Betty. A lot. Ever since I've been seeing you guys together more, I realized that Betty belongs with me. C'mon Betts, remember when you asked me if I loved you? well, now I do! And we would have the perfect relationship, between two perfect people!" He reached forward and took hold of her hand. "So...?"

Jughead stood beside Betty as the whole drama took place. He felt the rage build up inside of him. He could feel it and he knew that very soon he would explode. But he couldn't help but wonder what that would be what Betty wanted. The perfect relationship. No dealing with the serpents or the southside anymore. The jock and the cheerleader. They would be Riverdale's power couple.

"No," Betty told him plainly. Archie's grin fell from his face and he dropped her hand.

"Archie, I never really loved you, it was more of puppy love or a simple crush," she told him, reaching down to grab hold tightly of Jug's hand, "I love you as a friend Arch, but I'm in love with Jughead. He makes me happier then you could ever imagine and our relationship is going perfectly. I Love Him."

With that, the pair walked off, leaving Archie shocked and their hands still tightly bound together. They were about 5 minutes of walking away from the drive-in when Betty stopped Jughead.

"I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner, but I  honestly love you more than I have ever thought to have loved Archie," she told him, gazing into his eyes.

"It's okay Betts, I love you."

He leaned down and kissed her gently. It was a soft, small kiss yet it was full of their love and happiness.

They pulled away, and Betty leaned her head on his shoulder, as they walked away, in the moonlight.
