38. Hospitalized
~Bella's POV~
As soon as we get home, I go upstairs and just lay on our bed, crying.
"Izzy!" Michael calls from.
"What?" I groan.
"Supper's ready!"
"I'm not hungry!" I call back.
"Come on. You gotta eat something!" He sighs.
"Fine! I'm coming. You're lucky I love you." I sigh, walking to the stairs.
I start to walk down the stairs but I miss a step and fall, rolling down the stairs and I feel my head banging on ever step until I bang into a wall.
Then, everything goes black..
~Michael's POV~
"Oh my god! Baby, are you okay? Can you hear me? Izzyyyy?" I say, panicking as I run over to her.
I shake her a bit and she doesn't wake up.
"Bill! Get the limo! We're going to the hospital!!" I shout.
"Right away, sir." He says, running outside.
As soon as he gets the limo around, I pick up Bella and lay her in the back seat, making her head sit in my lap.
---At The Hospial---
"What happened to her, sir?" The doctors question me as they transfer her onto a hospital bed.
"Well, we came back from her mother's funeral and she went upstairs and cried for about 2 hours then I called her down to supper. When she was walking down the stairs, she missed a step and fell and her head banged on every step and she smashed into the wall." I explain as the doctor writes it all down.
"Okay. We'll try to take care of it. It's probably just gonna be a concussion." He says.
"Okay. Thank you, Doctor." I sigh.
"No problem. You can just wait in the waiting room while we take tests to see if there's anything else we should know about her health." He says.
"Okay." I sigh, sitting down with Bill.
---4 Hours Later---
"It's been 4 hours, Bill! 4 hours! Why haven't they said anything yet?" I sigh, frustrated as I pace around the waiting room.
"Well maybe they have a lot of tests they need to run." He says.
"Mr. Jackson?" The doctor says my name, coming out of Izzy's room.
"Yes? How is she? It's just a concussion, right?" I say, hopeful.
"I'm sorry. I have some bad news." He sighs.
"Oh, no.. What's happened? Is she okay?" I ask, afraid of what he's gonna say.
"She's in a coma. But through running some tests, we found out that she has a rare type of cancer." He says.
"Well, is it treatable?"
"I'm afraid not. It's so rare that they still haven't figured out a cure for it. There's also another thing you should know, Mr. Jackson.." He trails off.
"What is it?" I whisper.
"It's terminal." He says and my heart shatters.
"My..My wife is gonna die?" I ask as tears flood my eyes.
"I'm afraid so, Mr. Jackson. I'm so sorry."
"How long does she have left?" I ask.
"About 2 to 4 days." He says.
"Oh my god. 2 to 4 days?!" I cry.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Jackson. I wish there was something we could've done but it's much too late. Would you like to see her?" He asks.
"Okay." I nod, walking to her room.
I look in her room and she's laying there with all kinds of tubes in her, trying to keep her alive.
"My poor baby." I whisper as tears roll off my cheeks.
I walk over to her and look down at her.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do without you. Our little girl won't know you and she's gonna have to grow up without a mother." I sigh.
I sit in a chair beside her bed and take her hand in mine.
"I don't know if you can hear me, Izzy, but I'm gonna talk anyway." I sigh as I kiss her hand.
I look at her and begin to talk.
"My god, you're such a beautiful woman. I am so lucky to be married to you. You're so kind, gentle, loving, caring, passionate, funny, smart, bright, beautiful, and so much more. Meeting you at that dance studio was the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm glad you almost ran me over because if you hadn't, we probably wouldn't have talked. I would've been too shy to go over to you but you came right over to me and apologized. I remember that day as clear as a bell. Oh, Bella, I don't know how I'm gonna go on without you in my life.." I start to sob.
I keep a hold of her hand and bring it close to my chest as I cry hysterically.
"I promise-..I promise I'll never replace you with anyone. You're my only love forever."
"How's my little princess?" I hear her father's voice speak from the door.
"They said there's nothing they can do." I sob.
"That's what the doctor told me. Aww, Michael. It'll be okay. At least she'll be in a better place and she'll be with her mother." He says, hugging me a little.
"But I don't know what to do without her and what about Jazz? She's gonna have to grow up without her mother." I sigh heavily.
"That is gonna be tough on her." He nods.
I kiss Bella's hand and take a breath.
"I can't imagine how you feel. You just lost your wife and now you're losing your daughter. I would never be able to lose Izzy and Jazz and be as okay as you are." I say and he sighs.
"I just keep thinking positive." He says.
"I'm gonna go break the news to my family and get something to eat. I'm gonna be back in about 2 hours. Will you still be here?" I ask and he nods.
"I'll probably be here for a long while." He says, looking at his daughter.
"Okay. I'll see you later."
"Bye."
I walk out and get in the limo.
"Go to Hayvenhurst please." I sigh.
"Okay, sir. Are you okay?" He asks as he starts driving.
"No. But thanks for asking." I sigh.
We get to Hayvenhurst and I knock on the door.
"We thought you'd never come!" Mother says as I walk in.
My whole family's here. I forgot it's our monthly family day.
"Um, unfortunately I can't stay for very long." I say.
"Why not, dear?" Mother asks as she sits in her chair.
"Izzy's in the hospital and I wanna spend all the time there with her." I say.
"What happened? Is she okay?" Janet and LaToya gasp at the same time.
"Well, when we got home from her Mom's funeral, she went upstairs and cried for 2 hours until I called her down for supper. On the way down the stairs, she fell and banged her head quite a few times and smashed into the wall and got knocked out." I say.
"Oh so she got a concussion?" Randy asks.
"Mhm." I nod.
I suddenly burst into tears and Mother and Janet run over to hug me.
"Applehead, what's wrong?" Janet asks.
"Wh-When they ran the tests...they found out she has a rare, incurable type of cancer. A-And it's terminal.." I sob.
"Oh my gosh. That's terrible! How much time does she have left?" Mother asks as LaToya and Janet break down into tears.
"T-Two days." I stutter.
"Oh my gosh. Michael, sweetheart, you need to go back to her. Spend as much time as you can with her." Mother says and I nod.
"That's what I wanna do. I don't know what I'm gonna do without her." I sigh.
"Just think positive..she's gonna be in a better place and she'll be with you all the time." Jackie says.
"Mhm.." I nod, looking down.
I say goodbye to everyone and leave to go back to the hospital.
